I think it's both, honestly. Some of us are nostalgic for old Metokur, but old Metokur was indeed better than current Metokur, so it's not entirely a "rose-tinted goggle" situation.

Also, in fairness to Surfer, if that story about having to clean PPP's shit off the toilet seat is true, you can kinda see how it ended up the way it did. We only got a window into PPP's world a few minutes/hours at a time. None of us had to live with the guy.

Was Jim ever really that big of a draw tho? I wouldn't dispute him popping on to a stream would juice it's numbers, even if it was some irrelevant tard, but I can't imagine the retention of viewers or donos they'd get from those streams were ever sustainable. Has Jim ever really been a kingmaker other than the early days of the kumite? I know back in the day I'd watch the killstream, but only ever the episodes that he was on, and sometimes not even then.

After looking at everything I think PPP and Andy are incompetent, I think they lucked into a good show idea and it worked out. They started getting fucking lazy, the flamenco stream was when the cracks really started showing to their core audience it even pissed me off. Jim gave them a swift kick in the ass, hopefully they smarten up and take their job more seriously or the core fans and donators will start walking away astroturf gayops or not.
