The only nuclear option Clint has is to do nothing — like stop helping.
Don’t pay his utility bills. Don’t drive him to Post office to get his fan shipped booze and duster. Don’t buy him groceries. Don’t pay his phone bill or internet…
Cobes would throw a fit in his dark, no water or internet having trailer. But it would def challenge his idea of being a fully independent retard.
I agree but with caveats.
In many ways, Josh is a tyrant who uses his autism/assburgers/alcoholism as a cudgel to avoid even the tiniest shred of accountability. It's like, okay... we get it. You're a mentally ill, autistic drunk who can't manage your own affairs. But you're sly enough and possess enough brainpower to beg online, manipulate your audience and play the long con of learned helplessness with Clint. And then, if that doesn't work out, just throw a huge, screaming, drunk off your ass fit and that usually shuts everyone up. Clint is all:
"Oh, I can't get Josh to do anything he doesn't want to do and if I push him too far, he'll cut off contact with me." Okay, and how is this a problem? Do it, Clint. Grow a pair and try a little tough love. Let your precious little tard sink or swim for a few days and see what happens. The King of Casper could use a kick in the ass reality check.
CAVEATS!!!
- I know, I know, I know... Josh is for real disabled but let's not forget there are levels of disability. Josh wants all of the "perks" of being profoundly disabled (like not working, not being responsible for paying bills, not being a productive member of society, having all his needs met with no effort on his part, etc.) but he also wants complete control over his life and to be independent. Doodt, you can't have it both ways.
- Josh is a drunk and drunks don't get sober until they're good and goddamned ready. Josh's chances of getting sober are very slim. He lacks the insight to do anything about it apart from admitting it. But saying:
"I'm an alcoholic and I'm cutting down on my drinking." on Youtube is nothing more than words.
- Josh's low IQ/intellectual disability is a huge barrier to being functional. But, he's also not completely stupid. Josh's skill set could be improved with intervention and/or occupational therapy. Not saying he's going to win the next Nobel but he's not totally incapacitated either--he could improve his lot in life even if it was only in small ways.
- When there's no will, there's no way. Josh has to want to change or improve or whatever and so far, he hasn't shown a lick of willingness. All he wants to do is sit around, masturbate, stay as drunk as possible and be a hermit. Technically, he's hitting all his targets so... what do I know?
