Yea people probably do have an exaggerated opinion but in the context of this conversation if cobes were to have pointed that shotgun in nals direction and fired he would hit her regardless the shell he had in the chamber. In a confined area like a house or apartment or trailer any distance is only going to increase the odds the person gets hit unless you are using slugs unlike a pistol or rifle where pointing it in someone general direction at a distance might not have the same effect. Shotguns are known as point and shoot for a reason
