Therapy is useless when the patient doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with them and refuses to change. I don’t think anyone, not even Clint, thought it was going to work. It was more akin to buying a scratchcard to solve your debt problem to the local mafia. It could work. It’s almost certainly not gonna. But it could. At some point you’re just throwing shit as the wall to see what sticks. Eventually you don’t even bother looking if it stuck, but the habit remains.


I don’t think his family has any hope left for him. They’re mostly keeping him alive and as far away from problems as possible. They got lucky that he’s not one of those tards that roam the streets day and night looking for trouble. He stays inside, gets drunk, cooks a meal, rubs one out to some random chaturbate girl, and passes out drunk. Clint can deal with that for the rest of his life.

Cobies has PDA Autism NOT ODD. “is a proposed disorder, and proposed sub-type of autism spectrum disorder, defined by characteristics such as a demand avoidance—which is a greater-than-typical refusal to comply with requests or expectations—and extreme efforts to avoid social demands. Any expectation, even routine activities, such as brushing teeth, or highly desired activities, such as getting ready to leave home to visit a playground, can trigger avoidant behavior. If the demand cannot be avoided, a panic attack or a meltdown may ensue.”

Funny you post this because Seizure actually proposed this to Stephanie in his interview with her.
 
Expanding on that I had a chance to look into Autistic meltdowns (lol) more and it’s really eye opening.

“The distinction between a tantrum and a meltdown as tantrums being primarily verbal (screaming, crying) and meltdowns having a physical component (such as violent behavior), is not broadly agreed upon. Autistic meltdowns are not manipulative and arise from acute distress. Autistic people often forget details of what happened during their meltdowns.”

That very accurately describes Cobes worst freakouts. Like the epic “broke my fuckin’ cigarette” meltdown where he fought with (and lost to) many inanimate objects. We have proof that it’s not just performative for the camera too given his last big meltdown happened when he didn’t know the stream was running and he was pacing around his apartment screaming to himself.

It also describes exactly what happened the night when he got arrested. He hates the holidays, he was made to go to a family get together (triggering his PDA) he got drunk to cope with it which made it worse and he ended up having an autistic meltdown… literally. The last holiday disaster? Same shit.

I know it’s not all new information since we knew Cobes resisted authority and would resist being told what to do and would throw an angry tantrum. But the fact that it’s tied to autism and that his angry and violent tantrum is a responce to being overwhelmed rather than a manipulation tactic to get his way to me sheds a new light on it.

It’s even more sad and kind of bums me out to think the other point of PDA that even highly desired activities can trigger avoidant behavior. Explains why he wants to see Big Ben but always doesn’t end up going. Hell think back to his birthday dinner where he knew his parents were gonna take him out to celebrate and he got blackout drunk, sabotaged it, and subsequently had a meltdown see “I’LL SHOW YOU DRUNK!”

As a bonus for reference here is an advised strategy to help parents and caretakers cope and help their children with PDA Autism. How many strategies does Clint use?

There's also the fact of the matter that Cobra is far too intelligent for therapy he even said it himself!

I'm sure he probably had something wrong with him, but I always figured he died of an OD and Cobes blamed it on epilepsy. I want to say he was another of one Cobes' friends who talked rather flippantly about recreational "pain pill" usage, but I'm not 100%.

Cobies once told a story about him and Alex getting fucked up on muscle relaxers I can’t find the sauce right now but lolcow go might be a help if anybody wants to confirm.
