Casper really isn't that bad, but realistically who else would hang out with Cobra? Would you hang out with the weirdo who walks around your town smoking cig butts off the ground, yelling at the sky while waving around sticks in between his drinking sessions with the dumpster bums? That's how Casper knows Cobra. Casper has poor white trash people as does most of the United states, but it's not a terrible place, it's just we get to see Casper through the lens of Cobra and the people who are retarded enough to hang out with the local crazy bum.

He doesn't even walk around town, hunt for snipes, collect sticks or use his wand on traffic lights anymore. Excursions to the outside world were few and far between during the last 6 months he lived at the Conquistadors.

Something I've always wondered about is how would Cobes have turned out if he had non degenerate friends. Instead of meth head Scotty what if he had some nerdy DND buddies who loved magic and shit but never did drugs. How differently would things have been I wonder. We know he already thought chain smoking and being drunk was cool even back in the green basement days but I really think a good set of friends could have helped push him away from that.

the people we choose to be our friends is a reflection of our own character, to a degree. In order for cobes to naturally gravitate towards people who aren't dirtbags he would have to be a different person entirely.

Cobes isn't even really like his friends though outside of loving weed and booze. He's not a repeat offender criminal, he has no children out of wedlock, he isn't throwing piss on cops he's not at all the white trash people like Warlord are.
