I thought clint would just tell him she isn't allowed back to the trailer. I will be shocked if he allows her to just come right back after she was clearly the main reason he got evicted. There is a difference between encouraging hobbies and encouraging decent behavior. Clint was supportive in the sense of helping him with his hobbies, but I don’t think he was given enough encouragement with his behavior. For instance, by job corps, he struggled with basic tasks that could have been taught at an early age, such as reading directions. You’ll even see it in his cooking videos where he just doesn’t bother reading directions on how to make box mac and cheese.

I think it's a fair assumption that if he was encouraging hobbies he was also encouraging decent behavior but neither of us could ever verify that so

That's a thing with his ODD, he doesn't read instructions or really take many lessons to heart because he interprets it as someone telling him how to do something. His brain will immediately disregard anything if he interprets it as a command or instruction, it is unfortunate that he has a broad interpretation of what that is because he doesn't learn anything as a result. This is really the origin of why he never does anything right, from food combos/drink combos all the way down to picking up cigarette butts off the road to smoke.

I really think Clint was too harsh. I find it unethical to use punishment as means to produce better behavior, and it’s clinically been shown to be ineffective. Unless Cobes actually had a job that required shorter hair, it probably wasn’t necessary. Now, if Clint just gave verbal praise more often when Cobes did appropriate behaviors (like wearing deodorant regularly, brushing teeth, or doing dishes), that may have helped too. He could even have used delayed reinforcement with a token economy where he could work for things like gift cards, hobby items, etc. I guess I would have a way different approach than Clint when working with a case like Cobra’s.

Clint was also really mean even if indirectly. He knew Josh is autistic and can’t take a joke because he takes things too literally. He knows Josh was bullied relentlessly for being weird, he knows he was teased mercilessly about his crush’s in middle school. Clint even told a story about how Josh’s peers wrote letters posing as a girl he had a crush on saying she liked him only for them tk reveal it was a prank when he got excited. Then he turned around and would tease Josh about girls in highschool and say shit like “when are you going to get a girlfriend” and stuff. The guy is clearly deeply insecure about it and you, his own father, are gonna tease him about it?

I think that he became really creepy about women and began stalking and obsessing over them or seeing women as a means to an end because if things like this. He didn’t just want a girlfriend for companionship, he wanted a girlfriend so people would stop teasing him and to spite them, put them in their place or even if he wasn’t aware, earn their acceptance. It’s been a lifelong trend with him where even as an adult he focused heavily and lamented “going through a dryspell” with people always texting him he “needs to get laid” and other things because that’s a sure fire way to make him fly off the handle. Likewise he handles rejection horribly because having a girlfriend is tied directly to his self worth and not having a girlfriend is something that he’s been indirectly taught is shameful and embarrassing and reflects poorly on a person. It’s why he’s obsessed with “gender relashuns.” It’s why he won’t get rid of NaL. he just doesn’t have a healthy view of relationships or sex because of all that aforementioned shit
