With Clint’s psychology background, I’m surprised he hasn’t really worked on this with him, but having learned about Clint’s history, I don’t agree with his methods. I think Clint used too much punishment (such as taking away items, grounding, yelling, etc.) and not enough positive reinforcement (verbal praise, high fives, treats, etc.). By focusing too much on Cobra’s maladaptive behaviors and not enough on what he succeeded in, it may have decreased his drive to actually do better, in addition to using punishment liberally. All that being said, Cobra in general tends to look for the easy way out of most things, and that personality flaw would make it harder to succeed.
