The KS campaign expires this coming Friday. I doubt it will meet the pledge minimum by then (or ever).

EDIT: Added archive urls

Rapp didn't inform them of the second job and said job was very illegal in the State of Washington. This is where she violated the policy twice over, one for not telling them that's what she was doing and the other for being something at the polar opposite of their corporate image.

Good points on the specifics of the policy. I don't know whether they make them sign these things. A lot of companies have you sign a lot of documents when you begin work, to establish that you're aware of various policies and can't later be heard to complain about them (although most people just sign this ream of crap without even looking at it).

It's not strictly speaking a formal contract, but often, policy documents provided to employees can benefit the employees if the employer later reneges on them, and to some extent the employee is bound by them as well, at least to the extent of having admitted they're "aware" of them.

Her kind of "moonlighting" was clearly against the policy for the reasons you point out, not necessarily (as I over-broadly stated) that it would have been entirely prohibited. But they could have certainly told her to quit the McJob if that were the case.

That said, Crawley is a fucking loon for trying to push this petition and shows the kind of disconnect from reality we've come to expect from her on so many levels.

It's also certainly pouring gasoline on the grease fire already burning the person she's supposedly "helping."

These people are way more interested in whoring for attention themselves than avoiding damaging the people they white knight for.

Standard Code of Conduct stuff is in place at every company in the public eye, especially with the people who are out in mixing with the actual public and pressing the flesh (see what I did there?). It's a "don't do anything that would detract from our stated image and goals" message that gets thrown at employees in layers. It's in the contract, the employee handbook, regular HR refreshers and any other number of corporate-speak inculcations. It is pounded into you. You can't escape it. And any talking head who may have a microphone shoved in their face at a trade show should be able to recite these lines even after a 4 a.m. last call at Bob's Booze and Broads.

Which means, at the same time, Rapp knew that getting pinched in a vice-sting and her doing a perp-walk would be... how shall we say... an indelicate position for NoA? Even the appearance of such impropriety would make them step back and let her twist in the wind. And, c'mon now - look at how dumb she is on an objective level. She was so careless with this stuff that she was bound to get caught sooner or later. Most likely sooner.

She was so careless with this stuff that she was bound to get caught sooner or later. Most likely sooner.

All it would have taken is one unsatisfied trick with a grudge.

Or what she actually did, piss off a bunch of people whose only claim to fame is constantly doxing everything that moves. Genius move.

Man: "Boss, there is a hate mob after me. They are revealing things about my job."
Boss: "Like what?"
Man: "I am embezzling from you and dealing crack from my cubicle."
Boss: "Well, since we are both men, I will stand by you."

You forgot them firing the lowly female employee as a scapegoat, and then doing coke off of her body while fatshaming her.

Oh man Kim Crawley, the self professed computer expert, who seems to know nothing about computers. My first experience with her was on Reddit where she was in some gaming thread being snarky about people that though 60 fps was in any way visually better than 30 fps. Then she turned up in Random Acts of pizza trying to pawn her game off for pizza.

Kim Crawley is just a failure that tries to throw her hat into anything she thinnks she might be able to spin into a promotion for Kim Crawley.

Hustling and running scams are a form of work. Look at the efforts that people go through for welfare, tax and insurance fraud. Patreon, Kickstarter and the iBegging (since they all seem to be able to afford Apple gear) are just the evolution of legitimized scams and have moved to the level of micro transactions since SJWs are easier to flummox than a corporation.

A real job would be so much less stress and more stable for people like her. Why don't they just try and get one? I don't understand it.

She can't hold a job. She was fired from a call center because her literally psychotic behavior was disturbing her fellow employees. She doesn't just tweet herself, she speaks to herself as if she is speaking to another person, she is prone to delusions, her personal hygiene is lacking and she is generally unpredictable. She is unmanageable, incompetent and burdensome.

Suddenly, all of Hackers vs Bankers terrible incoherent writing makes lots and lots of sense. It's the ravings of a madwoman.

Kind of makes it both... tragic and slightly hilarious she thinks it's worth a thousand bucks.

To the surprise of no one, Kim's "game" spectacularly failed to meet its funding goals today.

Kimberly Crawley said:
So, the Kickstarter has ended, and we didn't reach our fundraising goal, even though several new pledges came in during the last 48 hours.

That means none of you will be charged for your pledges, and I receive no money.

But Hackers Versus Banksters is my very first game, and this was also my very first Kickstarter.

Raising $441.00 CDN is still kinda impressive under the circumstances, especially considering what a niche genre the game is, how new I am, and how much I did all by myself.

I want to thank all of you for your support.

I don't give up easily, so here are my plans moving forward:

  • I'm going to spend the rest of April finishing the last bit of development that the game needs to be stable and final. My Itch.io hosts the demo, but as soon as the game is complete, it will be available for sale for $5.00 CDN, Windows, OS X, and Linux versions all included.
  • Everyone who has pledged at least $15.00 will get their name mentioned in the credits unless you request otherwise. That's even though, because the Kickstarter didn't meet its goal, you won't be charged for it.
  • I will not be able to fulfil pledges, because obviously that's how Kickstarter works. I've received no money, so fulfilments can't be made.
  • On the bright side, the people behind the upcoming Toronto Comic Arts Festival love my game and I'll be presenting it there. This year's TCAF runs from Saturday May 14th, and Sunday May 15th at the Toronto Reference Library in Yorkville, which is, ironically, a scene in my game!
  • Anyone who visits my table at the convention will be able to play the final version of the game, and I'll also sell DVD copies of my game (Windows, OS X, and Linux all on the same disk) for $5.00 each. Depending on my finances, I might sell some other HvB "merch" as well. Hackers Versus Banksters will be mentioned as one of the indie games to be presented at the con on TCAF's website at some point in the next couple of weeks.
  • Crowgirl, I mean I, and Tankboy... I mean, my husband Sean, will both be there to introduce new fans to this amazingly quirky game! Sean's presence and support means that I can take the occasional break without requiring the help of a TCAF volunteer. Those TCAF volunteers work hard enough already, I don't want to give them more work. Running a geek convention is tough!
  • The final, complete version of HvB should be for sale on Itch.io by the first week of May, a good couple of weeks before the TCAF.
  • I'm also starting work on my next game, which will tentatively be a point-and-click Double Fine/LucasArts/Sierra-style adventure game about my late father's World War II London childhood ("The bombs!"), and approximately 25 year British Forces career ("More bombs!"). It'll also be tentatively titled Michael and The Bombs. The particular regiment my father was in from the late 1950s to early 1980s happens to be the one most frequently referenced in games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, the 22nd Regiment. So, that combined with the bombed by Nazis stuff should make for exciting video game material! The development of the game will also help me grieve Dad, who died on December 22nd, 2013 at age 76.
  • From the development and promotion of HvB, I've learned an awful lot! MatB will benefit from what I've learned. People were iffy about my hand drawn graphics, but really enjoyed playing the demo. So, I may conform to indie game industry peer pressure, and do more "pixel art" style graphics for MatB, even though it's based on a real person's life. I'm looking for an artist who can work with me this time to help fulfil my creative vision. If any of you have any suggestions, that'd be great.
  • Thanks to you guys, I'm also developing a very small but very important fan base. TCAF should hopefully attract a few new fans as well. So by the time MatB has a Kickstarter in a year or so, I'll have more to work with than this time.
  • I've never received a response to any of these campaign updates and that frustrates me. Please, please, please give me your feedback! You can make a comment here, and it'll really help me. Thank you.
I still owe people about $300.00 for their help in working out some of the bugs in my game's code. So here's my idea. I ABSOLUTELY NEED FEEDBACK FROM YOU GUYS ABOUT THIS, TO KNOW WHETHER YOU SUPPORT THE IDEA OR NOT:

Should I do one last KS for Hackers Versus Banksters, lower the goal to $400.00 CDN, and encourage you guys to repledge what you pledged in this KS? I'm broke, so that help in paying my debuggers would be a tremendous benefit.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP WHETHER YOU'RE UP FOR THAT OR NOT.

So, here's a quick recap:

  • Because the KS failed, none of you will be charged for your pledges. Accordingly, I receive no money.
  • Hackers Versus Banksters will be stable very soon, and for sale on Itch.io for $5. Expect that in the first week of May.
  • Hackers Versus Banksters will be presented at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival on the weekend of May 14th and 15th at the Toronto Reference Library near Yonge and Bloor. Physical copies of the game will be sold for $5 each, and anyone and everyone may play the final version of the game there, and meet me in person! The TCAF website will mention HvB as one of the games at the festival within the next couple of weeks. Unlike most geek cons, admission to the TCAF is free of charge!
  • As soon as HvB is stable and complete, I will commence with the development of Michael and The Bombs. It'll be an exciting game, and evidence of my growth as a new game dev. I'm also looking for an artist to help me with the game. All of the programming, game design, and some of the art will still be done by yours truly.
  • I'd like to do a last KS for HvB at $400.00. If you all repledged, I can then pay the people who helped debug HvB. I NEED FEEDBACK FROM ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE PLEDGED TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU'D BE INTERESTED IN THIS.
  • This has been a fulfilling, worthwhile learning experience for me, in spite of the failed Kickstarter. I'm learning from my mistakes, and growing a small fanbase already!
  • I have a Patreon for my computer security writing work. Patreon is a crowdfunding platform that works very differently from Kickstarter. If you could spread the word about my Patreon, that'd be great!
  • I've now got a regular gig writing about computer security and hosting educational webinars for a well established Toronto-based information security services firm. Because I like my client very much, and because I was a Gamergate target in the past, I won't name the company. That way, the company can stay free from harassment. If you'd like to know about the company I'm working for, I can tell you privately upon request.
Thanks so much, backers! AND PLEASE REMEMBER TO GIVE ME FEEDBACK FOR THIS POST. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT I KNOW WHAT MY BACKERS THINK ABOUT THE IDEAS I'VE PRESENTED HERE.

She is seriously planning to do another KS with a funding goal of 400 to coincide with the 400 she received to complete a game that she already mentions is near completion, funding or not so that the people who donated before can donate again, only this time, she'll get to keep their money despite not needing it to finish her game by her own admission.

This piece of shit is apparently being presented at some festival, and she openly admitted to using self-inserts.
smh.

Any Canadian Kiwi willing to finish the fight?
