HL2 is more of a era thing

Something that aggravates me endlessly is the INSISTENCE on humorous PG dialogue 4 seconds after, say, a lengthy sewer traversal in which you're surrounded by scorched corpses and gore. Feels like it was written last week by soy enthusiasts at certain points, despite having excellent lore and plot intrigue. The first game had bits of that too, but it was mostly just the security guards saying dumb shit.

I'm also getting sick of seeing the no gender, just mix and match everything kind of character creator. It's incoherent and I struggle to immerse myself in the game. But more to your point it feels like a way to avoid any transgender specific language while still pushing the same ideas. It's a similar thing with race. There are a bunch of distinct races... But they're all everywhere and interbreeding and have always been everywhere... It's straight up not how any of this works.

I don't mind it in high fantasy games when I can give my female dwarf a ridiculously big fluffy beard or make weird alien freaks, but they're not intended to be freaks by the devs, they're meant to normalise the freakishness sadly.

I brought it up because it fit my example. Based on your description that thing sounds far more interesting and I never said that AC franchise is good but it's popular with the normies so yea.

The game is Kingmakers. The gimmick is you're a time traveler interfering in said WoR by dragging in pieces of modern weaponry. It's Harry Turteldove fiction on crack. Sadly, it's development looks stalled.

Why does it always have to be a "far-right/nazi" thing? Why can't we blow up Red Army soldiers? Why can't we blow up a dangerous a drug-dealing gang that happens to be black? Why can't crazy post-apocalyptic maniacs be like troons or blacks instead of regular white men?

*shrug* Okay, now there, I don't have a gripe, if only just to have some variety. Hell, Farcry 5 won a lot of points with me for having us hillbilly types and even a militia actually be the good guys for once.

All these characters beg to differ:

Can't believe you didn't include Nidai. He's a big butch guy like something out of the Blue Oyster bar in Police Academy, and gives one of the girls a sports massage and isn't aroused in the least while all the others are gawping at them.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think putting trannies into literally any setting is stupid as fuck because it makes zero sense to be "trans" in a world where you can go full chrome like Lizzy Wizzy, or in a world where you can drink a potion to turn you into your desired sex, but as far as forced trans points go Claire is one of the less offensive examples because there's an actually interesting character to be discovered should you care to, yet it is a character you can ignore entirely and go through the entire game bar Claire's specific mission list without ever noticing that she is in fact voiced by a dude and you won't ever see the trans flag on the back of the Beast either.
Exploring Claire's story did break my immersion as she explained how her transition was True and Honest in the year of 2077 where you have murderhobo gangbangers with so many implants that they go cyberpsycho, yet Claire's family struggled with accepting her and all of that nonsense. I still much prefer a non-Mary Sue trans character that is completely optional, but to be clear it is still a turd in my delicious sandwich and I would much rather CDPR didn't put the turd in my meal.

This is why it annoys the fuck out of me when leftists cynically claim that these companies only push wokeness because it is profitable.

Nay, if they truly just wanted to make money, they would have stopped years ago. Or they never would have done it in the first place.

They only say that so they can have their marxist rage at the giant companies while they actively support their pet cause.

They must FOREVER cast themselves as the plucky put upon underdog.
