1. Is he still teaching/in academia?
2. What discipline was he getting his PhD in/is he still getting his PhD/has he defended his dissertation/has he even written his dissertation? My guess is that it's a "Studies" PhD which means he's going to be even more unemployable than people with PhDs in English Lit

2. According to an informant way back, he doesn't even have a subject approved for his PhD thesis (I think he did his Master's in American Studies or some similar lame shit).

That's a literal one-way ticket to unemployment, like any "Studies" PhD, since the "Studies" departments at colleges prefer to hire people with PhDs in actual disciplines (e.g. History, Anthropology, Sociology, Literature, etc)...anyone dumb enough to get a PhD in GWS deserves to go into as much debt as they can (because we all know these departments are broke).
