My thoughts on "It's Not About How You Dress" in the midst of all this chaos:
Kent's been wanting to do a video on this for about a week now. He acknowledges the criticism that he dresses like he's a child from 2005, but dismisses it as being a troll. Kent further dismisses this criticism because he has seen other guys who dress "WAYYYYY" worse than him, and they can get women. Nobody goes and tells
those guys to change how they dress, and they dress like "a bum off the streets!"
Kent goes on to reveal the central thesis of this video, after adjusting the camera for the second time in two minutes: "It's not about how you dress." I am realizing now how many of Kent's statements can be entirely refuted by "Yes it is." It quite clearly
IS about how you dress, at least partially. That's evident to any rational human being. Kent doesn't even bother defending his style beyond saying other dudes dress WORSE than he does. He doesn't talk about the virtues of the way he dresses. He just thinks it doesn't matter at all.
THEN he goes on to say it's actually about... your personality! Kent, didn't you put out a video entitled "It's all about looks" just one month ago? He eventually adds that "the way you look by the face" is also relevant. (Side note: Kent's firm belief that face is everything leads me to believe he has browsed SlutHate or Lookism. Ironic that he rarely acknowledges his short stature, which most users of those sites would probably agree is more important.)
Kent sincerely believes people who are telling him to change his style of dress are doing it "just to piss him off." He claims he gets a lot of compliments on the way he dresses. People say, "man, every time I see you, Kent, you always be wearing a new hat" and he takes it as a compliment, even though it isn't one, it's just a statement. Kent is unable to realize that people who say he's "looking fresh" are most likely either doing it ironically or to be polite. He thinks other people can't afford to buy nice hats and can't color coordinate like he can. Funny, considering I don't think Kent can "afford" nice hats, either.
Him rhetorically asking "Really? Really?!" is a recurring theme in this video.
He isn't going to ditch his hats because he has a sizable hat collection ("way more than 20") and he hears a lot of women like men who wear hats. He suggests we search for "do women like men that wear hats" on YouTube. He is working on expanding his button-up collection. He thinks that people say he dresses like a kid because he doesn't wear popular, designer clothing.
Kent repeatedly says "I'm not gonna say it," and tells us "You know what I mean when I say I'm not gonna say it," which leads me to believe that the "it" he's referring to is telling trolls to go commit suicide in a morbid fashion.
"What's wrong with wearing jean shorts?!" - Kent, 2015
Kent says he sees old men in their 50's wearing jerseys "and people don't say anything to them! Why's that?" Of course he doesn't see why this analogy essentially proves that he has an awful sense of style. He says that anyone who's telling him he has to change how he dresses is essentially telling him he has to change who he is. Yep! You hit the nail on the head, bud! You
absolutely need to change who you are, especially if you want to impress a fee-mayle. Crazy how he can simultaneously be so self-aware and so, so blind.
He wants people to "really marinate" on what he's saying. If you don't have a profile picture on YouTube (or "on those forums"

), you probably dress worse than Kent does and shouldn't give him advice. The more people who tell him he needs to change how he dresses, THE MORE HATS AND POLO SHIRTS HE'S GOING TO BUY! That will show us!
Kent dresses the way he does because he "isn't a sheeple." He starts getting a bit angry around 13:05 when he lists the brands of clothing he wears. He reiterates that we trolls don't tell OTHER guys how to dress, completely ignoring the fact that those other guys aren't posting YouTube videos whining about how they are literally the world's biggest reject. The voice Kent uses to impersonate trolls is pretty funny, FWIW. Kent tells those without profile pictures to go to Hell, reminds us to marinate on what he said, then recognizes that he's been going in circles and repeating himself before buckling his seatbelt and closing out the video.
