I remember that thread, i dont know if it was the same guy or another that was an unironic troon that was seething on his twitter "joking" to make kenshi 2 unmodable because of the chuds (he never mentioned the thread directly but worded it in a way that was clear it was refering to us, also chud didnt existed as a word at the time, truly we lived like animals.)

Must have been a while, do you have any screenshots?
I swear to god, Chris hiring help is both the best and the worst thing to ever happen to this game. Not surprised in the slightest his account is set to protected. You just know that this is the sort of dude that seethes over all the mods and comments elevating Holy Nation and showing Holy Lord Phoenix (blessed be his name) the respect he deserves.
Hiring help is the best thing, however hiring the wrong people just turns it into the worst thing. If he hired at least semi-normal people we'd be alright, now I'll probably never touch Kenshi 2. By account you mean the tranny's? Hahaha, faggot deserves whatever hate he got to recede into his own shithole echochamber. And yes I believe he shat on the Holy Nation, blessed be Okran, which is unsurprising considering how much internal hate the HN had behind the scenes. There's a bit of man-hate (courtesy of mostly Nat) in general if you dig in the FCS long enough, such as certain dialogue sets.
Meanwhile, Star Sector is doing quite well... as well as a bunch of games published on STEAM and GoG that doesn't use Unreal. If anything, OGRE can do more things, its just they want something shiny and new which doesn't translate to good.
Indeed, hell Kenshi has and is still doing well by itself, so them wanting to find a publisher is still baffling to me unless there's some internal shenanigans that Chris can't control like another user said.

i've tried ogre once and it's far more mod friendly than both UE and Unity can ever possibly hope of being, these two engines are level locked in a similar way as cryengine is but cryengine is even more retarded as it doesn't let you use C++ in the 3.0 version, don't know about the lastest one but it uses .pak compression shit just like Unreal for data and you can't do extended scripting like gamebyro, wolcen is a great example of trying to mod a cryengine 3 game (ie: PAIN).

there's xenko too but i couldn't get past the installation phase and my computer currently do not allow me to install it.

kenshi devs did the worst move possible, also starsector is in java, it's extremely moddable if you look at minecraft but modding is iffy, if you don't give it a modding API like starsector does you need to do hackjob shit like minecraft modloaders do, any game in java is like that.
the problem is that java and optimization are oxymoron, you cannot optimize a java game at all since java by it's nature is extremely resource-hungry.

I personally blame the swamp creatures that were attached to the project that forced them to move to Unreal Engine.

The only problem Kenshi has in general is the fact its not even MORE moddable. Can't add custom sounds, can't add new custom fight styles (dual swords being one of them), can't add new territories... in fact, a far better move would have been to optimize the fuck out of the game and the ingame editor like what the people behind Dusk did with their own stuff. Under the right conditions, Kenshi in terms of moddability would be up there with Skyrim and Star Sector which in turn is something they can run sales on over and over again.

But alas. Retardation won the day.

>1000 years in the past
Still a silly decision imo. Should've either made it on another continent or set in the future where civilization has actually rebuilt somewhat.
All it means is that no matter how based and gigachad my Human Male x Female Shek Aryan Greenlander Only Kingdom is in Kenshi 2, it's gonna crumble to dust within 1000 years to make way for the events of Kenshi 1. Also, correctly me if I'm wrong, but aren't Hivers only a couple hundred years old? How do they exist 1000 years ago?

To be fair, no matter how powerful or huge your outpost gets, it's still an outpost, it's never even recognized as a proper faction beyond a place to be raided/proselytized/taxed. Everything is all RPing, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kenshi 2 limits that even more.
but aren't Hivers only a couple hundred years old? How do they exist 1000 years ago?
Really? I've looked into their lore a bit and I can't find anything of their origins. For all we know they could have been the predominant species of the planet before the humans and skeletons took over (lol at Shek taking over anything besides my bed), but even that doesn't hold up since even the Black Desert Skeletons don't know what the fuck a Hiver is.
Then again if we go by what certain skeletons say "organics" seem to blend together after a while ("sane" skeletons reset after long periods of time to make sure they stay sane so it's possible they forgot the hivers too), at least according to Sadneil specifically. The Holy Nation, another long stand Empire doesn't know what a Hiver is other than yet another disgusting creature to be worked to death for the glory of Okran, praise be.
Many claim the second empire to have created them, but there's no real record of them being able to make these Hivers, or any good records of Hivers from around that time period.
My original theory is that they were a primitive organism that evolved from something that was left behind from the Second Empire, maybe a test subject or byproduct of new technology (Queen prototype?) that only took solid hold of the world in "recent history." Then Chris throws that out the window with their inclusion in Kenshi 2 also saying there's going to be different variants than the ones we see in Kenshi 1 (pretty vague, just a confirmation there will be something new but no details) so either it's going to be explained in better detail (don't count on it) or they're just going to be there because plebbitors love Hivers. Who the fuck knows anymore?

True. Which is why my only 3 desires for Kenshi 2 was being able to create your own faction from nothing, a more Rimworld-like scheduling system, and a more in-depth character interaction system... Like Rimworlds.
I like Rimworld, I bet you couldn't tell.

A whole video about nothing.

If the lack of new information doesn't remove all hype for you, Bella Ramsey's stunt double will.

A couple of new screenshots would have been nice. Even a glimpse at some concept art. Yeah, nah, lets just have a twee Q&A.

the funny part is that the video is only about chris and nat, no mention of the other people including that tranny that was supposedly hired to work on kenshi2.
God I didn't realize how ugly she was
it's a bong, what were you expecting?

The Brittish are not beating the inbreed allegations, nat got a huge fucking habsburg chin, she should be careful or she may stab Chris with it

Hivers are implied to have sailed from another island according to books of the machinist HQ and blogposts, also, bear in mind the entire hiver faction is incompleted, i dicked around FCS and they have a lot of dialogue that either doesnt trigger or is unfinished as well as planned features for them that were never added ironically the southern hive faction are more robust
Also Chris has stated he thinks aliens are lame and gay, everything in kenshi is a product of genetic tampering either from the first or second empire made by the Jews skeletons.

Like a true /ken/ user, digging through the mysteries and horrors unseen from the surface. You'll find all sort of odd things in there, I found a couple of questionable dialogue options and internal names definitely written by Nat the man-hater.

Did not know that, but I think I like that more. Similar to Dune in which its setting doesn't have (human level conscience) aliens but humanity fucked with genetics so hard you'll find mutants that are borderline indistinguishable from what we would call aliens. That being said, Hivers are aliens by definition, just not extraterrestrial.
Unless they were made off planet assuming the all-powerful Second Empire at least went to the other two celestial bodies (which they most likely did given the wreckage you see around the world, their internal names, and other things such as the eye(s)), made labs like they did on the planet we play on, and then either brought them over or they arrived through other means (during or after the collapse of the empire, some may have stolen ships, and now there's Hivers and potentially other things that may have not been native to the world of Kenshi). Then they would be extraterrestrial and would explain why there's not much lore regarding the Hiver's origins. Reminds me of TvTrope's "Absent aliens."

So true, i learned to differenciate between Chris writting and Nat writting because chris uses a lot of dialogue mechanics and triggers while Nat dialogue making is more simpler compare crab raider/reaver/skin bandit/beep wich are Chris written with say Flotsams or sheks and is clear wich ones where made by who, also Chris writting is more absurdist while Nat is 2deep5you high edge n shieeet

I suscribe to the theory that they were made in secret during the second empire for both replace humans and a loophole, they look like something skeletons would make after failing misserably to keep humans alive and becoming fustrated "oh they starved to death after the crops blew off? gotta make them have less hunger" "oh they cant survive in the fucked enviroment we created? make them inmune to acid" "oh they are prone to revolt because of that pesky free will? make em completely subservient to an authority figure" "oh also divide them into castes and erase any kind of individual features they may have"

The loophole is that skeletons are unable to make other skeletons/high level tech, either because they forgot how to or their programming forbids them from making certain advanced tech (but they can still do genetic engineering as seen with the sheks) so they need humans so their "race" can continue to exist but since humans became anti tech or too retarded to make it, if you are going to replace them make sure the new "humans" are also good at building tech in the hopes they can assemble more of yourself, hivers, as crappy as their robotic limbs are, they are the only ones that are making new robotics, every other robotic in game and lore is salvaged from skeleton corpses or second/first empire still functioning scrap.

If the skeletons did in fact make the hivers, this makes a lot of sense. Would probably be "easy" since insects are very much like this, they're pretty good at adapting to environments, hive based insects are easy to control with pheromones which is probably what Hivers use to identify hiveless, and said potential pheromones erase their individuality unless they manage to break away, in which case they probably release "hiveless" pheromones which would make it easy for the Second Empire to identify "insubordinates." Yeah I like where this is going.
The loophole is that skeletons are unable to make other skeletons/high level tech, either because they forgot how to or their programming forbids them from making certain advanced tech
Would probably be the former considering their uh...super death robots, the latter would be more likely in regards to said super death robots.
