I have no clue if there's even the slightest validity to this, but I've always heard that there were rumors that Ken himself stole the contract due to Archie's incompetence and that's how he managed it.

My understanding is that given both the number of years he worked with Archie and the amount of work he did for them, Archie should have had several contracts that spelled out the standard “work for hire” spiel. And it wasn’t as if Penders was arguing that a later contract retroactively granted him the rights to his characters and stories. I think this is simply a case of Archie being too stupid with their paperwork and Penders being stupid enough to use that to his advantage.

He may have "won" but what did he win? He won getting his shit completely de-canonized from Sonic and the right to some shitty, creepy, uncanny valley characters absolutely nobody wants. That and he's completely radioactive forever and will never be paid to make comics again. Huge win.

it's the principle of the thing

like making sure departed artists and writers who've moved on and don't give a shit about archie existing get their reprint royalties even though the suit all but guaranteed that archie will only ever reprint stuff they own outright moving forward
but the autists and righters will be very grateful to ken penders for fighting a decade-old injustice over fucking sonic the edgehog comics that never really existed instead of actually tapping into that nonexistent creativity of his to play out his long-unused story ideas without pissing off his 2 fans and burning away any potential goodwill he could've had

but ken won the moral victory and that's all that really matters

But the downside he lost one battle and that was the Trust of the fan base
 
so finally caught up with this thread and all i can say is my god penders is pathethic. Imagine if you took chris chan's sonic recolors and somehow made them go mainstream, blended that with movieblob's constant sperging and consoomerism on twitter and throw in a nice dose of "take the vaccine, eat the bug, live in your pod like a good little drone," leftist cuckery, and you have Ken Penders in a nutshell.

like seriously laura su for ken is basically what sonichu is to chris (or at least was back when he tried to make bank of it) at this point he's only just barley managed to outwit Archie and make it so they cant legally take action against him but i cant say the same if sega ever does.

also as others have said he spent half the time working on his book that he did whining on twitter maybe the art would at least be better, still unlike chris at least he is working on it and not just saying they'll be more books when i feel like it/after the merge gives me a staff of my ocs to help me print more.

Let me try to unpack this. He calls out the GOP for being a vehicle for:
