Edit: The more I look at this, I see that this drawing is not really composed at all. There is no underlying structure, just drawn objects slapped on top of each other. The eyes are the laziest, most simplistic "cartoon eyes" you can think of. The mouth veers off to the right, while the chin veers off to the left. There is also the thispersondoesnotexist "three front teeth" thing going on.

I’m sure Sega is just dying to work with him again to make this happen. I don’t believe he’d have to deal with Archie, since the work would revert to Sega’s control after the license expired between them. I guess nothing is stopping Ken from printing these and giving them out as gifts, but selling them would be another story.

Why would anyone work him? He shot himself in the foot and stabbed the fan base in the stomach and betrayed the fan base and their trust

Pretty sure I remember taking an art class that explained not to draw hair that way. I could give the eyes some credit only because it isn't colored, but this is Ken Penders we're talking about, so he'll make it worse than I could imagine.

I remember Ken saying he was doing similar thing with M25YL in 2019. I guess he just has the rights to do this now or is just really ballsy.

It is scary how much Ken Penders art style reminds me of Andrew Dobson's own shortcomings. They both share the excessive and unnecessary use of arbitrary lines in places that aren't relevant for the sake of adding "detail" only to achieve characters that are uncanny to look at.

On some respects Ken's art is even worse because somehow he manages to create these abhorrent chimeric combinations of cartoony and realistic features because he has no clue of how to create pleasant or harmonious facial features.

It is specially baffling considering he worked on a comic that was aimed to appeal to the Sonic crowd and he never learned how to visually recreate the "Sega" art style and it is obvious he never cared to study it because his style continues to be awfully inadequate to render that type of characters. The irony of it that there are a ton fan artist out there that have managed to create really visually appealing Sonic styled characters with a combinations of cartoon and realistic body proportions. Ken is incapable of doing so because like the cow he is criticism is an allergenic to him so he he sticks to his ugly art style.

Add on top of this that he doesn't seem to understand shading, color theory or composition. Then is the issue of his questionable storytelling ability. How on God's Green Earth did he ever manage to get a job in the comic book industry?

It really is amazing what job you can get when you know the right guy.
 
Ken Penders has done some non-Sonic work, like for Marvel, DC, and Star Trek. His art for those are decent if not bland and generic comic style. There's just something about the Sonic character stylization that a lot of comic artists just can't pull off, and it's not just Penders. Ron Lim is another artist who couldn't draw Sonic to save his life.

Archie done goofed and for some reason couldn't present the contract that would have proven Penders wrong. He basically lucked into a victory thank to the incompetence of his foe.

the worst part isnt the drawings or his opinions

the worst thing is his artstyle for faces

if he could just learn how to not draw a creepy face the rest of the boyd would be fine
