To understand how Penders ruined Archie Sonic i have to show you what the comic was in it's first era, the Micheal Gallagher era. It was a time when thing where things wer sillier and more light-hearted in comparison
So first is the Sonic Miniseries, any pages missing was an ad

I forgot that Sally was originally blonde in this. I think I like the red/brunette look better.

To me, I didn't really find much of the comics to be a bore, but there were hit and misses here and there depending on who was writing the story. Scott Shaw was one of the artists I didn't mind too much, but there were later artists that really took a shine. Pat Spaz, Sam Maxwell... (I literally loved Maxwell's art...)

I really miss these comics now.

They really couldn't decide on a hair color for Sally for a while there. She definitely looked better with the red hair design they ended up sticking with.

It was a little of both shows at the start, though I suppose it steered to the SatAM Sonic and beyond anyway.

I think if i recall, they made some story up that Sally got involved into some chemicals that made her hair and fur change color...then it went back. I think they just didn't know what to go with.

I was going through my old comics and I realized many of the specials, Ken Penders was the writer of. I was pretty sad because a lot of them I actually liked lol... but then I realized how some of them seemed pretty edgy, when it came to story. Like the Knuckles comics for example...most of it was about Knuckles learning his heritage and being an emo teenager over it. It was way different for me to see that as I always looked at Knuckles like the cocky, protective type.
