Ken's not a big enough deal for him to have a salt thread in reaction to this, is he?
If you look hard enough you might just find a pile of it

But it would take time to fester

The only thing I have to say about Ken Penders is that I find his obsession with Echidnas depressing.

Honestly? Looking at how stubbornly he's sticking to using the Sonic-style echidnas, his OCs, etc... I think he might possibly be legitimately autistic, albeit a high functioning one.

But it would take time to fester

The main point would be that Penders is confusing libido with simply abstaining from sex, which is a choice. They don't want him to understand because being angry at him is more fulfilling than taking five minutes to say "I didn't choose not to have a sex drive. I just don't have one."

Then again, most internet asexuals are also on medications that kill sex drive and are pretty prickly about seeking out medical advice on the matter, and they're more than happy to barge into LGBT spaces like they own the place and yell at the gays for being too flamboyant about the fact that they fuck.

Or 12yos that are still afraid of sex, 99% chance of encountering this when wandering into a fandom that is too young, lots of "lesbians" as well that are just normal girls that are still afraid of boys.

Penders' comic will never come out, because he knows that if he does release it, SEGA will sue him into oblivion. The first page got leaked online and one of the images on it is a panel directly lifted from an Archie title.

He also immediately started trying to get on IDW's case about reprints they were doing of some old D&D comics he worked on. Bear in mind that the comics in question were actually made for DC and IDW just has the reprint rights (Since D&D is a Wizards of the Coast product, and thus a part of Hasbro, who basically bankroll IDW). He only did this when they grabbed the Sonic license, of course.

One bit of info that's not often referenced is that his weird echidna nonsense was actually originally his plan for Sonic. SEGA understandably rejected this idea, but still let him do it with Knuckles.

He also really wanted to kill off Sally Acorn at the end of the Endgame arc, and even argued that she was a superfluous character now that the heroes had rescued her father, the king. SEGA also said no to this idea.

Penders has major daddy issues, though, and projected these onto the comic at every given opportunity. Knuckles, Sally, and Antoine were all given overly unpleasant fathers whose actions ranged from neglectful to outright abusive, all while their kids acted as though there was nothing morally reprehensible about what they were doing. Penders himself also doesn't seem to realise just how terrible the three of them are. He ended up projecting his own father onto Knuckles' dad so hard that he felt the need to interrupt his already dull and unfocused future story so he could have his- I mean, Knuckles' father die of cancer.

The most amazing thing about Ken, however, is that his writing and the impact he left on the series was so bad that it made all of the other writers look good. Fact of the matter is that Archie's Sonic comics never had good writers. Even Ian Flynn's work falls apart under review, it just gets whitewashed by his adherence to the games and he happened to come in right after Penders and avoid immediately shitting the bed.

Personally his art for the comics was tame only because I'm sure they whipped him into being specific and had to fit the comic. It's at best decent but the shit he's doing now is very VERY creepy and uncanny but that provides if this vanity comic even gets finished.

It's said an artist is at their best when under limitations, however when a shit artist wins a lawsuit and makes their own fan-fiction with no limitations you get Ken Penders and the Lara Su Chronicles

He feels that he can do whatever he feels like now which in a vaccum he can but doesn't. He won the lawsuit, got the rights to his characters, and is now doing fuck all with them.

He's probably well aware how derivative of the Sonic cast his characters are, and thinks SEGA will sue him if he does anything with them.

To be fair, he didn't help himself in that respect. His bio for one of his characters directly refers to "Princess Acorn", which is technically not what SEGA or whoever owns Sally has her copyrighted as, but is pretty obvious what that means.

I think he may have even alluded to a "blue hedgehog" in that same bio but it's been a while since I read it and I don't feel like bleaching my eyeballs again, soooo...

Even when working in his limitations, he was still showcasing a complete disregard of anatomy and blatant Echidna pandering.

Now that he isn't bound by Archie anymore, it's just gotten worse... a lot worse.

There's a lot to unpack here.

So the mouth area is what I assume Ken Penders would draw on a "realistic" person's mouth and lips smashed onto a goofy sonic Echinda. These are already two different styles that look like shit, and then you factor the anime eyes in to really drive home just how awful this abomination is. Then I factor in sonic characters having that weird uni-eye thing going on (minus knuckles) and I can't decide if giving her the weird uni-eye would be better or not since both are appalling in their own right. The weird glasses she has on would be better suited to the uni-eye otherwise it would feel like being in a fishbowl since they cover her entire face and rounds to the curves of her face. She would be much better off with normal glasses, and preferably darker sunglasses to help block out the last remaining rays of the day but most importantly to hide her fugly face. The green glasses also don't
contrast the rest of her well, at all, see below.

The hair mixing in with the Echidna tendrils is awful, as the tendrils are supposed to be akin to hair and can be styled, but giving her red hair makes it look like long pieces of flesh are descending from atop her head, especially since her pink is a skin tone. The orange hair, pink skin, tan mouth and red ass lipstick just looks terrible, the red contrasts with the green sunglasses but it doesn't stick out in the slightest and the other colors being similar to red just dampen the effect.

and the photograph in the background, is did he steal it or take it himself, either way it contrasts with the awful knuckles ripoff horribly. and the awful tree shadow. Clearly he's regressing as an artist.

It's honestly worse than Dobson's plagiarism.

The semi realistic approach to Sonic characters doesn't work. The way he draws the characters have way too human characteristics opposed to ho some fan artist draw Sonic characters who stick with the idea of them still being Sonic characters but might accentuate limbs a little for more elaborate poses (This doesn't count the cheesecake side of fan art just in general). Someone like Evan Stanley as an example she uses expressions and physical mannerisms to work around the more odd design of Sonic characters (Keep in most these characters are supposed to be like 3 or 4 feet naturally with Vector at 5 feet and Big the Cat at 6 feet). What Penders did is the typical "furry" art style but didn't bother that much at trying to work with advantages and disadvantages. Realistic proportions that lead to an uncanny picture but still wanting to do that semi Sonic The Hedgehog style banana nose like mouth and some sort of goggles thing on her face. What exactly are these characters supposed to be like aliens or something?
