Went digging through an old Archie Sonic fanblog the other day and found some interesting posts.

For reference, Dawn Best's art vs. Ken Penders' art:

This is part of a storyline where Charmy the Bee overdoses on LSD, which for whatever reason requires surgery. Nothing says Sonic like drugs and purple furry blood!

Last but not least, here's the trailer for a live action movie he tried to pitch based on his Knuckles lore:

Apparently, this was how he first envisioned the concept: a story about a super-advanced technomajikal clan of Native Americans who did some vaguely-defined awesome shit. However, instead of (God forbid) writing the story himself and seeing to it that it would succeed on its own merits, he shoved it all into the Sonic comic to guarantee a captive audience. This, on top of him bragging about never playing Sonic, would explain why his writing always had fuckall to do with the actual franchise.

That storyline sounds a lot more fun than it probably is.

Well Penders did, he killed the sonic comic so he could make foot fetish art and not work on his comic. Well these things happen.

Ken may have had played a small part. But I've got a feeling the sonic comic would have ended sooner or later without his "help". Its a real shame the comic runners were unable to give a proper ending to it though.

It's Archie, they're known for leaving books on "hiatus" and then announcing they're cancelled like a year later after everyone moved on.

Knowing Archie's upper management, I wouldn't be surprised If they just straight kept fucking up behind the scenes after the whole indent with the Ken's Lolsuit.

So basically a house of cards situation, where the lolsuit happened and the company did fuckup after fuckup.

Between the cancelation of the Sonic and their mainline series and its countless failed revamps and reboots. Is it safe to say that Archie Comics is bound for the grave within the next couple of years?

They've been pretty obviously flailing and doomed for years, with shit like killing off Archie in a bizarre, 2edgy4me way that more or less contradicted the general tone of the whole previous run of the comic. Archie was one franchise that certainly flat-out didn't need to try to go Cerebus.

He did what he had to, he sued them for the oc's but not for himself but for the children. the children need his foot fetish art. also some of the replies are pretty good.

I'm surprised he's talking about his book again instead of ranting about Trump and Bernie eating babies or creepy comments about buying underwear for his daughter. :optimistic: that he actually finishes it because I could use the laugh when it inevitably gets scanned and passed around.
