from what little I know about IDW (not much please correct me if I am ignorant) is basically that sonic can never have any real development. like he can't be in love, or be sad etc and I assume that is for every SEGA character.
The "Sonic can't cry" mandate stems from the Archie days where Sega flipped out over a cover of Sonic crying over a wedding invitation.

That said, my opinion of Ken is that he is a major sperg who can't keep his mouth shut. I sympathize with him to an extent because he spent over a decade of his life (co-)developing the lore of the Archie-verse, only for Archie to show him the door in favor of a newer model, Ian Flynn. Granted, that is tempered by the knowledge that was was notoriously difficult to work with according to some like fellow Sonic writer, Karl Bollers. (Though that didn't stop Bollers from signing a legal affidavit supporting Ken's claims.) The sad reality of the comic book industry is that it was never kind to its creators. DC and Marvel screwed many creators like Siegel, Shuster, Finger (with help from Bob Kane), and Kirby to name a few. One has to remember that the Siegel estate fought against DC, which resulted in them being unable to use the Superboy name for two years before they settled.

Perhaps the one thing that prevents me from being completely sympathizing with Ken is that he has an overly high opinion of himself and his contributions to the Sonic franchise as a whole. The only people who remember his work grew up reading the Archie comic in the 90s and early 00s--most newer fans don't even know it exists. Copyright issues will likely prevent those issues from being reprints because Sega doesn't want to pay royalties for half-forgotten side characters they don't even care about. Sonic has moved on since then and his contributions are becoming more of a footnote than an integral part of the lore, but that won't stop him from yelling at clouds when Paramount releases a new Sonic movie.

WTF……

It may be in bad taste, but it's just him going 'lol my OC is badass' about it. Compared to the 'lol my OC cucked Sonic' shit, this is pretty minor to be worth caring.

How much political ranting does he actually do anyway?

Yeah, that's dumb enough. Now if he goes on a whole paragraph about his not-echidnas 360° no scoping Trump's head from double the distance and getting away by teleporting, it'll be more stupid amusing.

Thoughts on reboot Archie
I've been reading Archie Sonic start to finish and I just got done with the Spark of Life Arc. It's pretty decent over all but I much prefer the pre-reboot Ian Flynn era. It really sucked that some major shit just goes unresolved because of the lolsuite, and it's weird that I care because this is Sonic and it's supposed to all be cringe anyways. At a certain point I realized I was unironically enjoying reading it, which was hard to come to terms with. I see that another Megaman crossover is coming, which I didn't care for the last one that much. You know if the second time around is any better?

I've been aware of the Archie\SatAM characters for a long time. First time I seen any of them was on Youtube when I was 12. It was interesting to see the take they had for Sonic early on compared to what was then modern Sonic. And then a bit after that I learned about the comics through one of the Sonic compilation games I had for the original Xbox. Not necessarily because it used the SatAM characters, but because of those butt-fuck insane covers. I could gleam that there was some kind of story, but I could not tell what that story would even be. Either way I was fascinated by that alone. Now I know a lot of the early cover art had little or nothing to do with what was actually happening in most issues, lmao.

From what I recall I wasn't all that interested in the new characters, but Flynn was doing a good job with the regular cast, and even the old SatAM characters. Part of the appeal is that this is the only place you can find the expanded cast anymore.

My first exposure to SATAM/Archie was mainly through younger me being an autist that constantly skimmed through wikis, but I also got exposed to them via Sonic Shorts.
Even now this still makes me chuckle.

That actually has some full issues of the comic you can read in it. I don't remember if you had to unlock them or not. The covers were just there I remember that, it had like every issue up to then on there. but there's like 5 random issues you can actually read in it.

which zooming in and pan and scanning on his bedroom tv to read them was something funny I remember walking in on my friend in high school doing once because I had basically lived there so I kept my memory card and a bunch of games there.

we ended up laughing all night when I started explaining to him some esoteric lore I remembered from the series as a whole.

the mega collection also had the most retarded and arbitrary way to unlock shit in it. It was like "open sonic 2 70 times and unlock another game" it sucked. It took forever for it to load and leave the game and auto save and go back to the menu. we spent no shit like a whole week not actually playing a fucking thing just doing all of that to unlock the whole collection. his little bro was in the other room playing Arkham asylum or something and we are playing a menu and a title screen.

it also treated sonic 3 & knuckles as a separate game from either so you had to open them both 50 times or something just to play that game as its intended. Which is all we wanted to do. bullshit.

I think I unlocked everything with a cheat code or by downloading save from the internet using a memory card cable. I literally didn't even know how to unlock anything. Work smarter, not harder.

Look at the facts: Archie rebooted to remove his contributions and ceased reprints, implying they had to respect his rights.
Devil's advocate here, but I don't think it quite means that. Imagine you're archie. You've just utterly bungled an easy lawsuit through a combination of your own ineptitude for record keeping, as well as your retarded lawyers. You've settled, likely because the company loaning you pretty much your only still somewhat worthwhile ip is breathing down your neck to make this retardation go away. We don't quite know the settlement apart from what Ken Penders himself claims is in it, and he also claims to own the very concept of knuckles having a dad or basic things that were in the video games long before any of his comics, so he can't always be trusted as the most accurate source of information, whether or not he's lying or just retarded enough to huff his own farts.

Do you:
A): Continue using dubiously popular side characters in your spinoff comic based on a defunct cartoon show alternate canon of a 90s video game mascot that is currently in the absolute gutter, risking more retardation from a fat retard for essentially zero possible benefit?

B): Let him have his retarded little toys and salt the fields by removing them from all possible avenues of canon and marketing?
