The Bennett Bridge is expected to remain closed until the afternoon as local police await the arrival of the explosive disposal unit, which is based in the Lower Mainland.
In a message sent to local newsrooms and posted to social media early Monday morning, a man linked to the ownership of a van that is parked across the bridge outlined a long-running dispute with the RCMP.
The lengthy and rambling post makes numerous unverifiable and outlandish accusations against the police and a number of individuals. It is in that message that the man claims explosives were placed in the van.
RCMP said earlier today that a person was safely taken into custody, but not before a fire was started inside the vehicle.
“The bridge is closed in both directions right now while we have the necessary resources, including the lower mainland Explosive Disposal Unit, to ensure the vehicle can be removed safely,” says Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer, in an earlier release.

A police officer is directing traffic and is telling drivers the road is closed until the afternoon.

Vehicles are backed up along the hill approaching the Bennett Bridge from West Kelowna this morning, as the route remains closed.
Kelowna RCMP shut the bridge in both directions around 3:45 a.m. and continue to wait for the explosive disposal unit from the Lower Mainland to arrive on the scene of an incident that involved a person in distress.
A van is parked across both northbound lanes of Highway 97 at the bottom of Bridge Hill. Police took a man safely into custody, but not until after he lit a small fire inside the van.
Before the vehicle can be removed from the scene, it will have to be checked over by the bomb squad.
Drive BC has posted alternate routes for people who must travel between West Kelowna and Kelowna, including Westside Road through Vernon and then back down Highway 97. Expect heavy traffic and delays if you are taking that route.

UPDATE 6:27 a.m.
Witnesses tell Castanet, that the vehicle involved in the police incident on the Bennett Bridge was parked across both lanes of the highway.
One driver said they were among the first to come across the white van parked horizontally across the bridge as they were heading into Kelowna from West Kelowna.
They saw police show up and break a window on the van. That's when smoke started coming from inside the vehicle.
“We were told to exit our vehicles and walk further away because they came across explosives in the van,” said the witness.
Not long after, they heard officers yelling something about “mental health” and “we are here to help you”.
Another person at the scene said all the windows on the van were blocked out and the vehicle was still running.
Stranded motorists were told the bridge would be closed for quite a while and to take Westside Road if they needed to get around.
“Once everything was deemed clear, we got to the vehicle and reversed back up the bridge and returned to Westbank,” noted the witness.

The span was shut early this morning as officers dealt with a person in crisis.
The incident began around 3:45 a.m. when the individual parked their vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the bridge. They then are believed to have started a small fire in the vehicle before being safely taken into custody.
“The bridge is closed in both directions right now while we have the necessary resources, including the lower mainland Explosive Disposal Unit, to ensure the vehicle can be removed safely,” says Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer.
He says once the vehicle is deemed safe, it will be removed and the highway will be reopened.
“Expect the bridge to be closed for several hours, please make alternate driving arrangements in the meantime,” said Cpl. Gauthier.

Just so everyone is fully aware of the fact that the Attorney General of Canada Arif Virani’s office has had a complete copy of all the evidence delivered by Canada Post to 284 Wellington St. On January 17, 2025 at 10:57 am.
First, I want to apologize to everyone who suffers because of my actions here today but you can ultimately thank the RCMP, Hell’s Angel, Kelowna Cabs and willing participants for putting me in this predicament.
The William R. Bennett bridge is closed in both directions until this matter is resolved and my life restored with restitution or my life will cease to exist.
I’m accusing the RCMP especially Sgt Bryce Petersen, the Hell’s Angels, Kelowna Cabs and willing participants for conspiracy, collaboration, corruption and crookedness while intentionally causing me irreversible financial harm.
In the last 4.5 years the RCMP are responsible for causing me to lose 3.5 million dollars in lost revenue, income and personal assets.
I guess being a Canadian Citizen doesn’t really matter when your rights are being violated by the police in a country where you are supposed to have the ability to feel safe, I am a Canadian Citizen and have been living in Canada since 1967 and didn’t deserve what was done to me.
The doors of this vehicle have been sealed shut so don’t even think that you will be able to open them up, if you try just remember the phrase I will introduce you to GOD at the same time I introduce myself.
Inside this vehicle is 60 pounds of highly volatile material that requires nothing more than a stupid human to make a simple mistake and regret their decision.
This material can be triggered by anyone who does something stupid or I can do it.
Emergency response vehicles maybe bulletproof but I highly doubt they are explosion proof.
Choice A is that today a safe distance from my vehicle is approximately 50 feet.
Choice B is that I will introduce you to GOD at the same time I introduce myself.
Emergency vehicles such as Fire Rescue and ambulances are more than welcome to use the westbound lanes to go back and forth as long as they use their sirens and lights on from one end to the other and don’t stop anywhere in between.
When the RCMP uses criminals to do their dirty work in order to keep their hands clean while never intentionally being around gives the criminals free rein to do as they wish.
This story begins back in May 27, 2019 where I had the displeasure of crossing paths with a Sgt Bryce Petersen who worked in the integrated Road Safety Unit who wrote me a fake ticket that should have had his career ended.
The male witness for the crown actually offered a gift to Sgt Bryce Petersen while on the stand which under the Criminal Code of Canada is considered to be bribery.
He not only fabricated evidence but used 2 people to commit perjury in court but somehow convinced a traffic court judge to not have the clock on his bench on in order to manipulate testimony and alter the transcripts.
The transcripts do not match the audio recordings in the possession of the Kelowna Court House.
Sgt Bryce Petersen stated in his testimony that some of the manoeuvres done in my 22’ Mercedes Benz Sprinter are physically impossible to perform no matter how good your driving skills are and also he presented no physical evidence of any kind to back up his testimony.
Prior to moving to Kelowna, I lived in Penticton where I met constable Shami, while sitting at home drinking I was contacted by her informing me that a driving complaint was just filed against me for dangerously passing on the left driving over the concrete median in my Sprinter.
I drove to the Penticton RCMP detachment and dared her to issue me a ticket which she obliged and when it came to court and I pleaded not guilty, she then declined to proceed as I had dash cam footage.
I was found not guilty and while leaving the courtroom I stated to her that I would have handled her *bleep* to her.
What’s even worse is that constable Shami issued me the ticket at 1:57 pm, I disputed the ticket at 2:07 pm, the scariest part is listed on the ticket is that the offence took place at 2:35 pm.
On April 16 in Kelowna, I was accused of Uttering threats, assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose by a Cole Bernier who is a member of the Hell’s Angels.
On April 17 in Kelowna, I was accused of Uttering threats, assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose by Christopher Dyke and Leanne Hoff to which Christopher Dyke is a member of the Hell’s Angels.
Christopher Dyke is 6’10” and 375 pounds whereas I am 5’11” and 190 pounds and 60 years old.
I was ultimately arrested and charged with these offences by the same constable Shami and my evidence was seized by constable Shami.
When appearing in court the judge asked me how I wished to plead, I stated that as soon as I was given my evidence, I would be more than happy to hand these people their *bleep*.
The crown withheld the necessary evidence until my third appearance where I stated to the judge that unless I’m given my evidence everyone can go *bleep* themselves.
2 days later I was given a stay of proceedings and only after this I was finally given all my evidence, I have flash drives to back it up.
While owning my own taxi I picked up 2 people downtown at the Liquid Zoo where the passenger who sat in the back seat was approximately 6’5” and 325 pounds and the other passenger in the front seat was T.J. Wolfe.
These 2 wanted a ride to east Kelowna and I obliged, T.J. Wolfe at approximately Orchard Mall T.J. Wolfe started throwing things out of the passenger side window then started messing with google maps which was no big deal as I carried a chef’s knife for protection, he then decided that it was a smart idea to threaten to punch me in the face while I’m driving.
This is a very stupid thing to do so I did a u turn and started back towards downtown so he decided to threaten to punch me in the face again.
After passing Cooper I then increased the speed to 110 km/h in a 60 km/h speed zone trying to attract the attention of a RCMP member unfortunately no member in sight and the rear passenger was terrified and asked me to slow down and my response was *bleep* You.
I have had the displeasure of having another criminal offence being freely committed against me by T.J. Wolfe and he was never charged for the second offence which was a cyber crime and also never charged for that crime either.
When we got downtown where the police were in front of the Liquid Zoo and the road was packed with cars where these guys got out and took off proving that these guys are nothing but coward *bleep*.
On July 2nd I was issued a speeding ticket on Pandosy street and in court when I produced the proper evidence according to the ticket issued to me and the officer was not on video issuing me a speeding ticket he then accused me of photoshopping the evidence and the judge dismissed the evidence.
The traffic court judge then uses my dismissed evidence against me to give the constable a guilty conviction.
I guess the judge forgot to think that maybe the constable could have made a mistake on the ticket.
On July 27 I was on my way to work sitting at a red light and when the light went green this homeless person threw his bicycle at my vehicle.
I then backed my vehicle out of the intersection and got out to find out why and as I walked towards the rear of my vehicle I was sucker punched and kicked in the face.
This person was not only treated medically at the scene but released without any charges, I had to drive myself to the hospital to have a piece of my nose removed and required 6 stitches to close the wound.
After this Christopher Dyke continued to try to intimidate me and threaten to beat the *bleep* out of me with a golf club on 4 different occasions without any charges ever laid against him.
On multiple occasions while driving for different places of employment people would commit various offences causing me serious financial issues and when I would do the right thing and call the police the only thing that ever happens is a lot of crickets and tumbleweeds.
While driving for Pop-a-ride on regular basis 4 days a week people would tailgate me with their hi beams on creating a very dangerous situation for myself and my passengers, calling 911 gets the response of a lot of crickets and tumbleweeds.
On November 10 I had a passenger who I picked up at Vancouver International Airport bringing him to Kelowna International Airport where his parents were waiting for him, as I was passing the intersection Westside Road this BMW license plate TT2 46S was driving slowly in the passing lane and impeding traffic ahead of me so I approached him and flicked my hi beams at him indicating that I wanted to pass him and he brake checked me.
After brake checking me I turned on my hi beams and left them on, he then sped up and moved over so I passed him.
After passing him he started to tailgate me with his hi beams on creating a dangerous situation so I continued to speed up to get away and by the end of the William R. Bennett bridge the speed was 110 km/h
He then cut in front of me and came to a stop take a picture of my license plate and wanted to fight with me frightening my passenger.
This continued until Leckie Road where I had to stop and he stopped beside me where his female passenger started yelling at me that I was going to jail for endangering my passenger.
The driver then stated that the female passenger was a dispatcher for the Kelowna RCMP.
I finally got the passenger to the airport to meet his parents and apologized to him as this was his welcome experience to Kelowna from New Zealand, this is how RCMP allows Hell’s Angels members to treat people in my vehicle which makes the RCMP no better than these *bleep* Hell’s Angels that are permitted by the RCMP to perpetrate crimes against me and my passengers causing unsafe situations to me and my passengers.
He managed to follow me to my house where he got out of his vehicle and attempt to retrieve a weapon to assault me with so I dog sprayed him in his face 3 times, he then got back into his vehicle and turned around and stopped behind my vehicle where he was in full view including his license plate and got out, picked up a hard full of rocks throwing rocks at my vehicle causing 3,500.00 damage.
The only way that the RCMP would charge this person is if they could charge me with assault with a weapon, I even begged the RCMP to do so and to present day not one RCMP member anywhere is willing to charge me with assault with a weapon.
I’m almost certain that this driver is also a Hell’s Angels and the reason for this is that this time he was driving someone else’s car so he couldn’t be directly identified and everyone who I’ve stated is a Hell’s Angel is because of the way that they are threatening and intimidating in their behaviour and the willingness to inflict extreme bodily injury with the use of force and violence using weapons without a care in the world.
Then there is ICBC where I have had 3 people hit my vehicle while doing 100+ km/h on the highway and take off, after giving ICBC all the information and even asking passengers in my vehicle to give statements (Brent Soleway) not one passenger ever took the time to do the right thing which goes to show how far the RCMP went to conspire, collaborate and allow citizens and criminals who were perpetrating crimes against me and behaviour that isn’t tolerated on the roads and highways in order to cause me irreversible financial harm and destroy my life.
The 3 ICBC adjusters are Paulo Del Rosario, Richard White and Jasmeen Gill who even though I gave them sufficient evidence ICBC refused to repair my vehicle.
For every incident 911 was called and no charges were ever laid against anyone who perpetrated crimes against me and this is why I have filed 24 complaints against 22 members of the RCMP with the Complaints Commissioner for the RCMP.
The scary part of the fact that I’m accusing the RCMP of being corrupt and crooked is that out of 24 complaints filed against 22 members of the Kelowna RCMP is that not one person who perpetrated a crime against me has ever been charged with any offence and not one RCMP member has ever been found guilty of any wrongdoing in their investigation by not charging these people while perpetrating the crimes against me.
These are only 9 incidents that have taken place against me which should make you think how far these corrupt and crooked RCMP members are willing to go to destroy someone’s life.
On December 8 I had communications with Pop-a-ride where they stated that they were very pleased with the service that I provided and all the amazing reviews, then on December 11 they permanently cancelled my account because I violated the terms and conditions but Pop-a-ride doesn’t fall under the rules of the Passenger Transportation Board nor any commercial vehicle act and that anyone can start a car pooling company by registering a company name.
Because of all of these incidents of safety concerns my Pop-a-ride account was permanently cancelled on December 11 and passengers with pre-booked trips were messaging me as to why I was sending them racist messages which couldn’t be further from the truth.
One day I came out of my place and noticed a guy who kind of dressed like a plain clothes police officer was smoking on my landlords balcony, my landlords are very health conscious and don’t allow anyone to smoke on their property.
This person smirked at me and I asked him if he was related to the landlord and his response was no, the next time I spoke to my landlord he said something to me that is physically impossible for him to have known.
He said that I was an angry driver and I complained about other drivers which only one person who was an international UBCO student of East Indian descent was the only person that this type of chit chat was going on in my vehicle.
The moment my landlord said this to me confirmed my assumption that the RCMP, Kelowna Cabs, UBCO international students and the Hell’s Angels along with other willing participants conspired, collaborated and intentionally causing irreversible financial harm which destroyed my life.
I recently sent an email to reserve constable Troy Gross who is the person who investigates RCMP members who get complaints filed against them stating to him since the RCMP have managed to destroy my life and now that I’m homeless, I’m also hypoglycaemic and hyperactive and have never used insulin but consume a great amount of sugar but if anyone gives me the wrong amount of insulin it could kill me, 2 days later 2 RCMP officers along with a nurse apprehended me under the mental health act and locked me up in the mental ward of Kelowna General Hospital because apparently I stated in the email that I wanted to kill myself.
I encourage the RCMP to produce this email proving me a liar as these people just don’t know when to quit coming up with the dumbest *bleep* in order to cause me irreversible financial harm while destroying my life.

I was found not guilty and while leaving the courtroom I stated to her that I would have handled her *bleep* to her.
What’s even worse is that constable Shami issued me the ticket at 1:57 pm, I disputed the ticket at 2:07 pm, the scariest part is listed on the ticket is that the offence took place at 2:35 pm.
On April 16 in Kelowna, I was accused of Uttering threats, assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose by a Cole Bernier who is a member of the Hell’s Angels.
On April 17 in Kelowna, I was accused of Uttering threats, assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose by Christopher Dyke and Leanne Hoff to which Christopher Dyke is a member of the Hell’s Angels.
Christopher Dyke is 6’10” and 375 pounds whereas I am 5’11” and 190 pounds and 60 years old.
I was ultimately arrested and charged with these offences by the same constable Shami and my evidence was seized by constable Shami.
When appearing in court the judge asked me how I wished to plead, I stated that as soon as I was given my evidence, I would be more than happy to hand these people their *bleep*.
The crown withheld the necessary evidence until my third appearance where I stated to the judge that unless I’m given my evidence everyone can go *bleep* themselves.
2 days later I was given a stay of proceedings and only after this I was finally given all my evidence, I have flash drives to back it up.
While owning my own taxi I picked up 2 people downtown at the Liquid Zoo where the passenger who sat in the back seat was approximately 6’5” and 325 pounds and the other passenger in the front seat was T.J. Wolfe.
These 2 wanted a ride to east Kelowna and I obliged, T.J. Wolfe at approximately Orchard Mall T.J. Wolfe started throwing things out of the passenger side window then started messing with google maps which was no big deal as I carried a chef’s knife for protection, he then decided that it was a smart idea to threaten to punch me in the face while I’m driving.
This is a very stupid thing to do so I did a u turn and started back towards downtown so he decided to threaten to punch me in the face again.
After passing Cooper I then increased the speed to 110 km/h in a 60 km/h speed zone trying to attract the attention of a RCMP member unfortunately no member in sight and the rear passenger was terrified and asked me to slow down and my response was *bleep* You.
I have had the displeasure of having another criminal offence being freely committed against me by T.J. Wolfe and he was never charged for the second offence which was a cyber crime and also never charged for that crime either.
When we got downtown where the police were in front of the Liquid Zoo and the road was packed with cars where these guys got out and took off proving that these guys are nothing but coward *bleep*.
On July 2nd I was issued a speeding ticket on Pandosy street and in court when I produced the proper evidence according to the ticket issued to me and the officer was not on video issuing me a speeding ticket he then accused me of photoshopping the evidence and the judge dismissed the evidence.
The traffic court judge then uses my dismissed evidence against me to give the constable a guilty conviction.
I guess the judge forgot to think that maybe the constable could have made a mistake on the ticket.
On July 27 I was on my way to work sitting at a red light and when the light went green this homeless person threw his bicycle at my vehicle.
I then backed my vehicle out of the intersection and got out to find out why and as I walked towards the rear of my vehicle I was sucker punched and kicked in the face.
This person was not only treated medically at the scene but released without any charges, I had to drive myself to the hospital to have a piece of my nose removed and required 6 stitches to close the wound.
After this Christopher Dyke continued to try to intimidate me and threaten to beat the *bleep* out of me with a golf club on 4 different occasions without any charges ever laid against him.
On multiple occasions while driving for different places of employment people would commit various offences causing me serious financial issues and when I would do the right thing and call the police the only thing that ever happens is a lot of crickets and tumbleweeds.
While driving for Pop-a-ride on regular basis 4 days a week people would tailgate me with their hi beams on creating a very dangerous situation for myself and my passengers, calling 911 gets the response of a lot of crickets and tumbleweeds.
On November 10 I had a passenger who I picked up at Vancouver International Airport bringing him to Kelowna International Airport where his parents were waiting for him, as I was passing the intersection Westside Road this BMW license plate TT2 46S was driving slowly in the passing lane and impeding traffic ahead of me so I approached him and flicked my hi beams at him indicating that I wanted to pass him and he brake checked me.
After brake checking me I turned on my hi beams and left them on, he then sped up and moved over so I passed him.
After passing him he started to tailgate me with his hi beams on creating a dangerous situation so I continued to speed up to get away and by the end of the William R. Bennett bridge the speed was 110 km/h
He then cut in front of me and came to a stop take a picture of my license plate and wanted to fight with me frightening my passenger.
This continued until Leckie Road where I had to stop and he stopped beside me where his female passenger started yelling at me that I was going to jail for endangering my passenger.
The driver then stated that the female passenger was a dispatcher for the Kelowna RCMP.
I finally got the passenger to the airport to meet his parents and apologized to him as this was his welcome experience to Kelowna from New Zealand, this is how RCMP allows Hell’s Angels members to treat people in my vehicle which makes the RCMP no better than these *bleep* Hell’s Angels that are permitted by the RCMP to perpetrate crimes against me and my passengers causing unsafe situations to me and my passengers.
He managed to follow me to my house where he got out of his vehicle and attempt to retrieve a weapon to assault me with so I dog sprayed him in his face 3 times, he then got back into his vehicle and turned around and stopped behind my vehicle where he was in full view including his license plate and got out, picked up a hard full of rocks throwing rocks at my vehicle causing 3,500.00 damage.
The only way that the RCMP would charge this person is if they could charge me with assault with a weapon, I even begged the RCMP to do so and to present day not one RCMP member anywhere is willing to charge me with assault with a weapon.
I’m almost certain that this driver is also a Hell’s Angels and the reason for this is that this time he was driving someone else’s car so he couldn’t be directly identified and everyone who I’ve stated is a Hell’s Angel is because of the way that they are threatening and intimidating in their behaviour and the willingness to inflict extreme bodily injury with the use of force and violence using weapons without a care in the world.
Then there is ICBC where I have had 3 people hit my vehicle while doing 100+ km/h on the highway and take off, after giving ICBC all the information and even asking passengers in my vehicle to give statements (Brent Soleway) not one passenger ever took the time to do the right thing which goes to show how far the RCMP went to conspire, collaborate and allow citizens and criminals who were perpetrating crimes against me and behaviour that isn’t tolerated on the roads and highways in order to cause me irreversible financial harm and destroy my life.
The 3 ICBC adjusters are Paulo Del Rosario, Richard White and Jasmeen Gill who even though I gave them sufficient evidence ICBC refused to repair my vehicle.
For every incident 911 was called and no charges were ever laid against anyone who perpetrated crimes against me and this is why I have filed 24 complaints against 22 members of the RCMP with the Complaints Commissioner for the RCMP.
The scary part of the fact that I’m accusing the RCMP of being corrupt and crooked is that out of 24 complaints filed against 22 members of the Kelowna RCMP is that not one person who perpetrated a crime against me has ever been charged with any offence and not one RCMP member has ever been found guilty of any wrongdoing in their investigation by not charging these people while perpetrating the crimes against me.
These are only 9 incidents that have taken place against me which should make you think how far these corrupt and crooked RCMP members are willing to go to destroy someone’s life.
On December 8 I had communications with Pop-a-ride where they stated that they were very pleased with the service that I provided and all the amazing reviews, then on December 11 they permanently cancelled my account because I violated the terms and conditions but Pop-a-ride doesn’t fall under the rules of the Passenger Transportation Board nor any commercial vehicle act and that anyone can start a car pooling company by registering a company name.
Because of all of these incidents of safety concerns my Pop-a-ride account was permanently cancelled on December 11 and passengers with pre-booked trips were messaging me as to why I was sending them racist messages which couldn’t be further from the truth.
One day I came out of my place and noticed a guy who kind of dressed like a plain clothes police officer was smoking on my landlords balcony, my landlords are very health conscious and don’t allow anyone to smoke on their property.
This person smirked at me and I asked him if he was related to the landlord and his response was no, the next time I spoke to my landlord he said something to me that is physically impossible for him to have known.
He said that I was an angry driver and I complained about other drivers which only one person who was an international UBCO student of East Indian descent was the only person that this type of chit chat was going on in my vehicle.
The moment my landlord said this to me confirmed my assumption that the RCMP, Kelowna Cabs, UBCO international students and the Hell’s Angels along with other willing participants conspired, collaborated and intentionally causing irreversible financial harm which destroyed my life.
I recently sent an email to reserve constable Troy Gross who is the person who investigates RCMP members who get complaints filed against them stating to him since the RCMP have managed to destroy my life and now that I’m homeless, I’m also hypoglycaemic and hyperactive and have never used insulin but consume a great amount of sugar but if anyone gives me the wrong amount of insulin it could kill me, 2 days later 2 RCMP officers along with a nurse apprehended me under the mental health act and locked me up in the mental ward of Kelowna General Hospital because apparently I stated in the email that I wanted to kill myself.
I encourage the RCMP to produce this email proving me a liar as these people just don’t know when to quit coming up with the dumbest *bleep* in order to cause me irreversible financial harm while destroying my life.
I’m accusing the RCMP especially Sgt Bryce Petersen, the Hell’s Angels, Kelowna Cabs and willing participants for conspiracy, collaboration, corruption and crookedness while intentionally causing me irreversible financial harm.
