A cult and abusive imaginary pimp?). I don’t doubt she hasn’t had the best life, but fucking hell- none of her other family members are this insane.

Oh no, I don't think you're being harsh--- I completely agree. She irks the fuck out of me in a way I can't explain. Part of why I like watching her is because I find her medically/psychologically fascinating (real-time abnormal psychology is a true mindfuck in so many ways). I think she knows what she's doing to an extent, but there's something "missing" in her brain. Of course she has a personality disorder, but it's just hard to imagine what really fuels that absolute, unrelenting drive to do shit in the way that she does. Lots of the people in this section are obviously addicted/obsessed with attention (and/or spite, not growing up, etc) but you can get loads of attention without going to the extreme she does. You can easily fake being sick and get sympathy without literally shoving razors into your snatch.

Psychosis is very complicated and can manifest in a huge variety of ways. Her being potentially psychotic wouldn't negate an extreme personality disorder, either.
But... Perhaps psychotic isn't exactly the right term, it's just the... logical thing my mind would go to. For instance some psychotic people are aware that most people don't wander around mumbling incoherently about radio transmitters aliens put in their teeth, but they also "know" those transmitters are there goddamit. Yknow what I mean?
She most certainly is delusional. It's not that she necessarily thinks the stories she makes up are "real", she can't even keep up with them consistently. I think her delusion is that she thinks all of this is explainable, understandable, makes sense to people around her--- and of course some people fall for it because they can't imagine why the fuck someone would lie about such horrible things. Or that someone would continue to harm themselves in such a hardcore way (but not trying to kill themselves, or not "relieving stress" through self-harm, which is much more common). She's got a huge disconnect from reality, even if most of it is in fact just based on an astronomical drive for attention.

I'm not trying to "diagnose" her, as I think that's better left to a real doctor, but I do think it's unfortunate that someone's brain could be this way, and that the main "value" of her existence (and its documentation) could provide a lot of insight into Munchausen's, malingering, self-mutilation, abnormal psych and of course wound pathology.

I hope this isn't coming across as "oh poor Kelly, she's mentally ill and traumatized". For me it's more like "this is horrible enough that it shouldn't exist, but it does, so it should be studied".

No medical updates yet AFAIK. Just waiting for a social work consult and "for certain things to fall into place". I suspect she is preparing for an escalation in wound care treatment (maybe more surgical debridement, or another vac dressing? maybe even an admission?). I don't think she's quite reached amputation stage, considering she's still weight-bearing. Once some toes start falling off and/or she becomes bedridden, that's when things will really start happening, but for now she seems status quo.
 
Munchausen might be rare, but from what I've read, Kelly really does seem to be a pretty garden-variety munchie. I think people are only shocked by her because they're used to seeing people malingering on Instagram or whatever.

This is one cow that I almost wish I never stumbled upon. I started from page one and never ever thought it was going to turn out like it is current day. I can't believe anyone would do this to themselves willingly and it isn't even because of a drug addiction. Just for fucking attention?? I hope she never has children because whatever is going on inside her head needs to end with her and not be passed on to another soul.

Oh, don't worry. If by some bizarre twist of fate she managed to get some dude to knock her up, she 100% would cause a miscarriage for attention.

I know that everyone already believe that she made this to herself but I just read this threat so I want to give my 2 cents.

A little bit of PL but I have some people on my family with a lot of anxiety and they pick their skin a lot and their legs and arms looks like those photos of Kelly (the less gruesome ones)


I'm trully surprised that someone can turn their own bodies to... this. I mean she was a dancer, I want to believe that legs are one of the most precious parts for a dancer, Me myself can't even imagine living with a broken finger, let alone a rotten hand or arm. I would like to see somekind of study of the behaviour of this kind of people

Exactly. Munchie is just a name for these people. In some ways, they do "munch" aka make themselves sick BY malingering and taking too much medication. But Kelly is a pure munch case (currently at least). We don't have many of those because they are less internet-based and more disturbing.

If you want to look into it more, it's a mental illness called Excoriation Disorder or dermatillomania (skin picking). It commonly occurs alongside OCD as does trichotillomania (hair pulling). The supplement NAC can actually be very effective for both in large doses.

This was brought up in the thread before. Kelly's leg picking only started after she shopped for other diagnoses and none of them stuck. Before she picked at her skin she used to cut herself.

Yes, I’m more inclined to believe this is just a feature of her munchausens. The picking is just a means to the attention medical issues bring.
 
that’s true that she actually is pretty typical , at least within published case studies. Shit in wounds, weird objects, endless stories...I suppose seeing it play out in self-posted photos in sort-of-real-time is much more visceral than an unillustrated article.
The way she goes about taking photos & video is the worst about it to me, really. Without context I could glance over it as something from a textbook or one of those Krokodil pictures. Def the exhibitionism that gives this whole show a very odd, unsettling tone.
