Not a doctor, but it appears to be pretty bad edema. After surgery, say, to graft skin, there’s almost always some swelling due to inflammation and the tissues reacting to being disturbed, but it subsides after a short time. Since Kelly’s been continuing to pick at and irritate and damage her legs, she’s caused inflammation, and fluid has built up as a result. Basically, anytime there’s inflammation, the immune system calls certain cells and proteins down to the site, and along with that comes fluid (lymphatic fluid). Someone more knowledgeable than me on these matters would be able to tell you the specific process by which this occurs. I don’t know/can’t tell re: infection, but since her wounds and scabs are looking like they could become necrotic again, and they gave her antibiotics, that’s probably at play here too.

Isn't swelling also a sign of blood clots? Sub-question... how does she NOT have a blood clot?

Also - did anyone notice her #youcantjustgotomayo? Yes you can. Doctor fills out the referral form. Doctor submits said form. Mayo clinic calls and schedules. Patient goes to clinic. Pretty standard. I guess I don't know if it is harder for a Canadian to get in. But I know many people who got a referral and were seen within a month. If it is the absolute worst case ever seen ever and doctors are totally at a loss for treatment, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, etc would take her immediately. So if she is not getting referred, that tells me doctors are saying "hey she's mental."

You can literally just go.

On Canada's dime though? Unlikely.
I mean she shouldn't be on Canada's dime. If she is so concerned about "curing" this, why wouldn't she drum up the funds to figure it out and pay. I get medical care is expensive here in the states. But FITFO. But she clearly doesn't want help. Or to be "cured". If she did, I don't think she'd be playing never have I ever on her stupid instagram story.

I honestly don't know why I continue to follow her. But I suppose it's like driving by a car wreck or seeing a house on fire. Can't seem to look away.

Edema can be seen with blood clots, for sure, but it can be a symptom of a variety of conditions. In Kelly’s case, it’s clearly secondary to trauma and/or infection. I feel the medical care she has received has been of excellent quality, and for both her donor and recipient graft sites to have been doing so well, and then taken such a drastic turn once she was left to her own devices is pretty good evidence that she’s caused it herself. I don’t think it was intentional, though, because the lymphatic system isn’t something you can easily access. It’s just a perfect (for her) side effect of the havoc she’s wreaking on herself.

Anyone have any more insight on how she fucked with her fingers ? Is the curling iron still canon here ?

Also, I kind of agree that picking is below Kelly at this point. Not that she isn’t doing that but moreso that she is almost certainly doing more.

Let's see (puttin' on my crazy hat)--could be heat, but I don't think it looked all that much like a burn. I'd say friction from rubbing it or pulling that finger repeatedly over a cord or something.

edit: just wanna add the fact that I haven't looked at that pic in a while....so I may be imagining it inaccurately. Also, even with my crazy hat on I can't begin to figure her level of batshit insanity.
Edit again: I was looking at the pic of finger on page 26, not the earlier and indeed very curling iron shaped wounds. The pic on 26 is a profile of her finger with a bullous blister.

I just went back to her post and I am not sure if it was burn or what. But 1 is black and the other is redish. But both had yellow puss. Certainly looks like necrotic tissue.

Advice: do not google "necrotic tissue burn". I was hungry. I am not any more.

I can say with 99.99% confidence that it was due to gripping a curling iron. The later pictures were black, but the initial blisters were in the exact shape of it. Then she just picked them or rubbed shit in them til they went black.

I almost gotta admire Kelly's dedication to the cause. The pain of all these things must be immense. Like, body-wracking kinds of pain. I imagine it's the kind of pain that not even opiates can fully cover. It really astounds me that someone would willingly subject themselves to that kind of pain. If that doesn't show just how strong mental illness can be, I don't know what does.

We always talk about how she’s constantly demanding pain meds and I’m sure it’s because she is, in fact, constantly in pain (not that she can admit that openly.) It’s weirdly grotesque yet fascinating that she’s SO intent on continuing to pick, and that she was so wrapped up in this process of claiming she has Behcets only on her front legs that she hasn’t picked a new tactic yet or a new appendage to start picking.

The damage to her shins was so bad though, I reckon the nerves are fucked and she can't feel pain anymore. But if I'm wrong and her nerves are fine despite all the damage I think it's important to remember that she was a cutter before she ever started picking, I think being able to control pain probably makes it more bearable.

been a while since I joined and I am beyond fascinated that Kelly indeed did ruin her legs again...Don’t know why I thought she wouldn’t. Anyway, someone said that they went back to that post of her hands so it inspired me to scroll to the beginning of her Behcets.... it started as swelling in both hands and feet and later turned into bruises on both. I do wonder how she got her hands and feet to swell like that in the first place and how it graduated from bruises to tissue necrosis. There is zero doubt in my mind that she is doing it to herself, at this point. Can it even be said she is psychotic, how much is she in charge of herself, at this point? She’s about as extreme as a munchie gets. That’s the only way she can function, it is literally the way she survives and copes with life which is quite sad. However the woman is old enough and should take responsibility for her own actions and recognize toxic behavior and faulty patterns she developed as a result of whatever. She seems unfit to do any of that so I will forever find it baffling that more can’t be done to have her locked up but that’s been discussed countless times on here. It’s gonna take something very extreme to get her into any psych treatment and I don’t even wanna know what is more extreme that what she’s doing now...good sis Kelly lasted some two months with her legs “intact” 😒

I haven't gone back and looked at the beginning of her horror show. But to be fair on swelling, I feel like it's fairly easy to swell up....I am pretty good shape personally, and when I run, or go on real long hikes, the way I hold my arms always makes my hands swell. Airplane rides have made my ankles swell pretty bad. Do I think she went on a plane ride to get the best pic ever? No absolutely not. But I do assume there's some munchie tactics to make your body bloat up. I mean shit, she may have consumed a tub of salt.

I dunno. I think swelling like this contradicts Kelly's ideal Munchie presentation as a delicate, fragile princess. If she were just bloating in general, from eating salt or something, her wrists would be fucked as well, but they look pretty normal. Kelly certainly hasn't been doing her compressions or whatever else her doctors prescribed to prevent this level of edema, but I don't think swelling and bloating are the intended consequences of her meddling.

And even if swelling itself isn't too uncommon as you say, the level of swelling I see here is grotesque. Maybe I've been in this thread too long, because the sight of her current ankles and feet disgusts me more than the scabs higher on her calves.

I really feel for her doctor and nurses. Those grafts looked fantastic. Even though this was the obvious outcome of the surgery, it's horrible to see such hard work thrown away.

This has crossed my mind several times as well. If you search for photos of Behçet’s disease, none of the injuries are even close to Kelly’s in severity. You’d think that if doctors truly diagnosed her with this and truly believed it to be accurate, she must have received a higher level of care by now.

I don’t know much about how these things work, but it just seems very unlikely that a patient who’s experiencing one of the worst - if not the single most severe - case of a particular condition is just kind of casually going about her treatment and not receiving more intensive care.

This reason by itself is why I think that her doctors are at least partially aware if not totally aware that her “Behcets” is self-inflicted. If they thought otherwise, I really do think they would encourage her to seek more intensive treatments and/or more information on prevention. That, and there’s no way that they haven’t figured it out at this point. That’s why I wondered earlier if there was any way for her doctors to report it, either to her psychologist or to a facility.
