She’s probably hoping for the crutches or artificial legs so she can flail around and get more attention and pity in public. Wheelchairs just aren’t enough these days, everyone’s got em and everywhere has ramps.
The doctor finally realized what a terrible idea "debriding" was in the first place, it just encouraged her further fuck with her wounds. The only time she showed improvement was when they vacuum-sealed her wounds.
This is one of those times when a straightjacket would truly help the patient.
I think they might be scars from previous picking rather than bruises. Iirc she had scabs going all the way up her legs and around her hips around the time she was posting on this thread then it was pointed out to her that she'd be fucked if those scabs became necrotic and her bechets miraculously began to become focused on her shins.
Not a doctor, but it appears to be pretty bad edema. After surgery, say, to graft skin, there’s almost always some swelling due to inflammation and the tissues reacting to being disturbed, but it subsides after a short time. Since Kelly’s been continuing to pick at and irritate and damage her legs, she’s caused inflammation, and fluid has built up as a result. Basically, anytime there’s inflammation, the immune system calls certain cells and proteins down to the site, and along with that comes fluid (lymphatic fluid). Someone more knowledgeable than me on these matters would be able to tell you the specific process by which this occurs. I don’t know/can’t tell re: infection, but since her wounds and scabs are looking like they could become necrotic again, and they gave her antibiotics, that’s probably at play here too.
No, there is no bruising so I think it is just some form of what @summerandtempest said. The tissue was extremely damaged and in recovery and she won’t let it recover so it’s just all fucked now. But it won’t be like that forever because they will have to cut the whole leg off soon enough.
If they truly go necrotic again she will lose at least the more fucked up one. And I think we can count on that since she won’t stop. The tissue in her leg was broken down to the bone last time and now the tissue is even weaker. The body can only heal so much and she’s readily putting herself at extreme risk of sepsis. It’s only a matter of time for Kelly, and since we see her continuing to escalate her behavior it is inevitable at this point that she will lose her legs and/or her life.

I mean, it'd be hard to argue that Kelly even wants her legs at this point. Has she complained of lymph edema before? I cannot remember. The fact that the grafts were so well healed (under vacuum bandages and watchful nurses) before this sudden decline makes my think she's upped her game after her narcotics started getting reduced. We know she self-exanguinated via needles to fuck with her blood levels. I do not put it past her to be injecting foreign substances (like saliva or milk etc) subcutaneously to trigger infections and reactions. I actually think that "picking" wounds is beneath her skill level. The combination of her fucking with herself and the heavy meds she's been on guarantee bad outcomes for her. Bowel obstructions, amputations, clots, or who knows are in her future.
I'm no expert in gross leg demons but I've read this whole thread and if I'm not mistaken, it's canon that she picks her legs. It started as these little holes and she just keeps going on em. I would buy that she also fucks with them in other ways but I'm pretty sure it's mostly the leg picking. That's why she has all those bruises on her thighs too, I do believe.
Oh I didn't realize she admitted to picking specifically. (I've read the thread, but she flits around to so many weird things...) I thought we all just assumed picking with fingers because it is the simplest way to accomplish things like her wounds. I was just considering that she may be perpetuating other forms of self-injury. You could disrupt the blood supply and healing of grafts like those through other tactics and we know she's comfortable with using needles and such tactics are documented in other munchie case studies. The edema is interesting though. I wonder if that was just a fun side effect for her or if she specifically crafted or at least nurtured it as a symptom.
