I don't know why I'm stunned, seeing that swelling, but I am. Kelly is beyond mentally ill.

Imagine needing attention and comfort from strangers so badly that you do this to a leg that has already nearly rotted off, saved only by excruciatingly painful skin grafts and muscle relocation. This pain for her is easier than the pain of not receiving attention and being doted on.

This is absolutely shocking. We all knew she would do this, that she would fuck with her legs after the grafts. We called it. So why does it feel so unbelievable that she did this to herself again?

She claims it's swollen in spite of her wearing compression and keeping her legs elevated. I would bet she's not doing either.

If a wound care nurse is coming every other day, wouldn't they see this and report it to someone, like a doctor overseeing her care? I don't get how she receives medical attention every other day, yet this is happening.

So why does it feel so unbelievable that she did this to herself again?
Because it is unbelievable to a normally functioning human brain that someone would deliberately hurt themselves so badly. Back on March 3rd, two days after surgery, she said...

When I got to this point in the thread, I was like "okay, now she knows she went too far, she learned her lesson and won't do something like this again." If this happened to you or me, we'd be following doctor's orders not just to avoid losing a leg, but to avoid experiencing that level of pain ever again. Nobody forgets that kind of pain by only three months post-surgery. So the fact that she's actively fighting against her body healing and causing herself further harm--I mean, she might as well be a completely different life form, because what human would do that?

At this point, she deserves to lose those legs.

I mean, why the skin grafts? Why not mutilate a new part of her body that hasn't been "cured" yet?

How long are we thinking those legs are gonna remain attached to Kelly?

Edit to not double-post, but would it be in poor taste to ask for a leg poll a la "how long before Lola dies?" in the Hartley thread

Kelly is crying in her live story about how she's in the worst pain of her life, but she totally has a super high pain tolerance guys.

She was on high doses of Dilaudid and Morphine for what, a year? Opiate addicts develop notoriously low pain tolerance after they've built up drug tolerance - they cannot handle even the slightest amount of pain.

Kelly lambasts people who do this for attention and drug seekers, because it keeps her from getting help and medication she needs.

Ah, yes. The old, "my pain is worse than anything anyone has ever dealt with ever." Junkies puss me off. They harm the care of people who actually need medicine, and are in wrecking pain and have to silently deal with it. But otherwise, they fail to sit and listen their addiction(s) are causing a number of their problems. Teeth, intestinal, even bleeding issues have been linked to hard prescription medication abuse and these fucking idiots still do it.

Kelly's doctors should really be injecting her with her medication rather than giving her pills whenever possible. No way she's going to take anything prescribed to her.

Can any medically-knowledgeable Kiwis explain why the swelling would be hard? I know it’s not good, that’s for sure, but I’m curious of the exact implications.

This is full-on lymphedema. I can imagine the prolonged state of her legs has damaged her lymphatic system, and I wouldn’t doubt she has a lingering infection, both of which have led to this excessive build-up of lymph fluid in her lower leg. Probably why it’s so tough now.

If I were Kelly, I'd just infect myself with HIV. Way less effort. I'm sure there are some bisexual dudes on those bug chasing forums.

That's going to be a good look, Kel. Just think of the reaction you'll get when posting in the #dancer tag!

Last time I saw something like that, it dramatically split and flayed the flesh off the bone, kek.

I am inclined to believe Kelly does not have any particular thought in her mind when she picks at herself though. Excessive picking at oneself is like, animal-tier signs of mental illness.

Interesting that this Behcet’s disease continues to only affect her legs in this one spot, huh?

Right? And Kelly's Behcet’s is super special because not only does she not have the most common symptoms, like canker sores, swelling in any joints or inflammed eyes but she also defies the usual demographic for severe Behcet’s, which is middle eastern men.
On top of that she seems to have the worst case of it EVER since a quick search for "Behcet’s disease" and "skin grafts" brings up next to no results, with even a woman who lost an eye to her Behcet’s ulcers having the necrotic tissue in her legs clear up after three rounds of plasma exchanges.
Weird that none of her doctors suggested the most common treatments either, it's almost like they already know what's causing the issue and it isn't an autoimmune disorder.....

I would hate to be a doctor in that position. A patient comes in, gives you information that YOU KNOW is wrong, and you have to treat them like it’s no big deal. Does anyone know if there’s a system in place (or if it’s legal/acceptable in Canada) to report people overusing or abusing the medical system there ? As someone else mentioned earlier, that should be considered fraud.

I know Kelly isn’t the brightest individual, nor is she screwing with the system for anything other than attention — it’s sort of crazy that she’s gotten away with such behavior for this long, and it’s inconceivable to me that she hasn’t been locked away yet. (Except for recently, and look how well that turned out!)

In situations where it's legislated against speculating certain things, if there is a moral reason for professional communities to disagree with the rule, they always find a way. It might be describing her illness as a "mystery" rather than "unknown", for example - some type of code phrase to warn others. I assume her hospital visits are mostly limited to her local area, so word of mouth may cover it too. People who see the limits of healthcare budgets on a daily basis hate people like Kelly and I am sure go vigilante in some way.

Unfortunately here in the Canadas it's really hard to get someone placed in a mental facility, let alone keep them there.
We let Vince Li, the fucker who decapitated Tim Mclean for smiling at him politely and then ate part of his face on a greyhound bus go after a few years. Dude ate a kid's eyes and we gave him a pat on the back and a shiny new identity because he super pinky swore he'd take his meds this time.
The system does not really care about some nobody kid who wants to pick at her legs until they fall off. I'm certain the people who deal with her directly would be stoked to have her locked away or in any way out of their hair but until she voluntarily does so they unfortunately have to take her claims seriously or risk that one day she may not be crying wolf.
I'm sure many have suggested it her symptoms are at the very least psychosomatic, but you can't force someone to get therapy or take meds.

Call me crazy, but it cannot be a good idea to give immunosuppressants to someone who rubs actual shit into wounds they created. If the Drs want her dead, this will do it.

I don't disagree that it's hard to lock up people who haven't committed a crime against their will but to be fair, in this case, that dude is extremely schizophrenic, did commit a crime and spent years in a high security facility. It's not like they gave him a fucking lollipop and sent him on his way.

Huh. Would she be taking those because they think her skin grafts are being rejected?

I’m surprised with the severity of her “Behcet’s” that they wouldn’t have given her an immunosuppressant sooner, considering it’s an autoimmune condition and whatnot. In conclusion, she probably bought it herself on the internet.
