As of writing, this happened about two+ hours ago. According to the article below, we do know that a bomb went off earlier today in Kabul, a city in Afghanistan.

The bomb was inside of a truck that went off at around 8:25 AM at the German Embassy.

Said embassy is heavily damaged, and Germany proceeded to postpone a flight full of deportees. The Taliban has claimed that it dindu nuffin. The person who pulled this off is currently unknown, as well as how they managed to sneak an explosive into a heavily fortified area (The area where the bomb went off is close to the German, French, Turkish, and British Embassies)

Sources say that :islamic: is to blame, but nobody has stepped forward yet.

Did a check on the High Score list, for the people who care. This is up in 7th place, beating out a similar bombing in 2016 (this bombing injured more people (120), but still killed approx. 80)

EDIT: Well, now there's 100 dead and 400 wounded, still nobody willing to claim responsibility.

(should start at 2:51)

I was watching a video about ISIS in Afghanistan, perhaps one of their affiliates had a hand in this? There's also quite a bit of infiltration of Islamists in the ranks of Afghan military and law enforcement agencies, so that might explain in part the bomb making it to the site.

At least their wantonly murdering and destroying property in their own country.

The bomb, concealed in a water delivery truck, detonated at 8:22 a.m. (local time) outside the offices of a major local cellphone company and a popular TV station. It hit about 400 yards from the German Embassy in one of the busiest parts of town, near big supermarkets and shops.

The Taliban denied responsibility for the attack in a statement. No group has yet claimed it.
Wall Street Journal reporter Jessica Donati, in Kabul, said the explosion happened close to western embassies, government institutions and the residences of high-ranking officials and their families. It's the most fortified part of the city, which can only be reached by passing through several checkpoints, she added.

So, it looks like this attack was aimed at
  • Companies that produce electronic products and media (a cellphone company and a TV station)
  • Foreign embassies
  • Defenseless civilians doing their shopping
This is so tragic. At least 80 people were wiped off the face of the planet for no reason.
