Jussie Smollett States Why He Received Jail Time

Actor and singer Jussie Smollett portrayed Jamal Lyon in the hit show Empire. However, he later became known as the actor who staged a fake hate crime against himself in Chicago. After the news broke out, he was fired from Empire, and seemingly shunned from the entertainment industry.

Just over three years after the incident, a judge sentenced Smollett to 150 days in jail, 30 months of probation, and ordered to pay restitution of more than $120,000. He was also fined $25,000. Now, TMZ is reporting that sources close to the celebrity said that Smollet expected to get jail time, and that, "he felt he would be treated more harshly than other defendants convicted of a non-violent crime... all because of the color of his skin.

The source continued to say that Smollet believes there is more evidence of systemic racism in the judicial system, and that he knew this would be the outcome based on how the judge treated him during his trial. As of this publication, the judge has not commented on this matter.

Smollett Claimed His Innocence In Court After Receiving His Sentence

Although the actor accepted his sentence, he continued to deny any part in the incident. "Your honor, I respect you and I respect the jury, but I did not do this," he said. He also responded to reports from media outlets that he was suicidal, to which he told the judge, "and I am not suicidal. And if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself. And you must all know that." He then again stated his innocence and raised a fist in the air.

Smollet has just begun his sentence, and is currently in protective custody. His relatives have continued to run his Instagram account, and have posted two images supporting the star. The first image shows a quote from Smollet regarding his mental state, with the caption, "OUR BROTHER IS INNOCENT AND WE WILL KEEP FIGHTING. #FreeJussie." The second image is of the hashtag #FREEJUSSIE, captioning, "Jussie is innocent. And…you don't have to believe in his innocence to believe he should be free. #FreeJussie."

However, The Judge Approved Smollett's Requests Regarding His Jail Sentence

Many celebrities who serve jail time request protective custody due to the possibility of increased danger. Smollett and his legal team were no different. Following recommendations from his legal team and the court, the judge granted this request.

He is currently in his own cell that is monitored by security cameras. There is also an officer wearing a body-worn camera when stationed at the cell entrance for direct observation. It was confirmed by sources that he is not in solitary confinement, and that he can use a telephone and interact with staff. However, it is unknown if he was placed on suicide watch.

As of this publication, Smollet's family is running his Instagram account, and are planning to continue posting in support of the actor. One of their recent posts is to thank a Chicago activist for her support towards Smollet. The post mainly targets the Chicago Police Department for how the case was treated. In the end, the caption stated, "let's say I'm blinded by loyalty and I'm wrong— the Chicago Police Department is right and Jussie absolutely did what they say he did. IM STILL GONE STICK BESIDE HIM."

>currently in protective custody

Lame. Have the guard give him a couple of shoelaces, I wanna watch this histrionic narcissist attempt to tie a noose again.

Random joggers are too stupid to understand what they did wrong, and that's why they act too uppity and claim they dindunuffin.

Smollett might be a moron, but he's not stupid. It's all entitlement and ego. He's just mad that society didn't let him run his little charade.

Bussy seems to believe that he can re create the perfect storm of timing and circumstances that led to Kaepernick becoming a wealthy and famous race grifter despite being a talentless hack.

He's going to be very disappointed.

Well that plan backfired on him. I have no doubt he thought it wouldn't be granted so he could cry some more.

Yep, the actual end goal of all woke race grifting. There should be zero consequences for bad behavior by blacks something something systemic injustice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, the charges he was convicted on carried a maximum of WAY more than he got, right? Like, if he was given the harshest possible sentence on each, and ordered to do each concurrently, wouldn't he be gone for like a couple years?

I mean, if this country REALLY was racist and REALLY was out to get the black man, why did the court slap his wrist and give him less than they legally could?

Oh, silly me, he expected to pay a fine and pinkie-swear to never do it again.... right?

Or throw out the unfalsifiable claim that a white person who did the same thing in the same circumstances would have gotten nothing? Right?

Does anyone else think it's really really funny that it doesn't matter if it's a black celebrity worth millions of dollars or Tyrone the penniless crackhead, whenever they're caught committing a crime they all say the exact same thing?
Idindunuffin it's de wit pipple dey crakas wascist and shieeeet!

I can't believe his black family are supporting him, they should be screaming at him for making claims of actual racism less credible.

What are the realistic odds this poofter gets shanked in prison? Please give me some hope.
None if they keep him in protective custody. Which is such a fucking disappointment, I didn't think Cook County jail even did protective custody, I wanna watch this asshat tangle with career gangbangers.

He has the ego and delusional vanity of a rich jew, the I.Q. of a sub-saharan nigger, and the Biden touch. This motherfucker will undoubtedly violate probation conditions IN PC and serve his 30 months in prison.

The only reason he got away with it it's because he's rich and famous. Him being black was probably irrelevant to his case except for the part in which the judge thought it was worse that a black man would do this because it hurts other blacks.

I think he was facing up to three years for each conviction (5 total) so a max of 15 years if served consecutively. However I don’t think anyone thought that was likely.

Gotta love Juicy calling the judge racist after the judge painstakingly pointed out all of his aggravating factors and demeanor. He should have kept his mouth shut after his political contacts got him that first sweetheart deal.

And this is why, when it comes to the juvies, they SHOULD be putting the delinquents in facilities FAR FAR AWAY from their "people," 99 percent of the time their people are the ones helping them do the crimes. We're in a battle here in WI to bring the yoots back to their 'support systems' in Milwaukee, potentially uprooting an adult transitional facility, because of RAMPANT RACISM and abyoose! at the Lincoln Hills facility. No. Keep them away from their abusers turned enablers (won't even call them parents at this point).

This perpetual victimhood shit is getting really old, man.
