I going on a limb here, but not only will this book not do as well (sequels never do), but it's going to crash and burn.

It's going to get bad reviews, as reviewers will see a repetition of the first book's material and a marked decline in the quality and organization of the book, due either Peterson's mind getting fucked by his Benzo adventure, being ghostwritten by his almost certainly incompetent daughter and other hangers-on, or both. The whole affair has probably damaged his reputation as well. It might be too early for this, but I think people are going tired of "crusader" politics of the late Obama and Trump Administrations, from the SJWs, alt-rightist to the IDW, and really would just like live life merry (and grill!) in a post-Trump, post-pandemic world.

Look at the video comments. He has a god damned cult. I wouldn't expect objective reviews.

Edit: Holy fuck, look at the cover "The most influencial public intellectual of the Western world right now" By the fucking NYT. This is grotesque. @Null sorry to ping you, but our mumbling brain damaged cow here is publishing a grift/lolbook after almost dying from benzo/ketamine addicton. Perhaps it's front page material.

There were originally just 11 rules, but his publisher made him add another one because "12 rules for life" sounds catchier.

(Reminds me of crap like the "48 Laws of Power", which was probably originally 47 Laws, but 48 sounded catchier - and later got updated to 50 Laws just because 50 Cent contributed to it).

12 rules for wife
rules for life: the lost episodes
rules for life gone wild

I will probably read that book. He's not the second coming of Christ like his internet cultists hold him up to be but some of the psychobabble he's written helped me get through bad shit one time. It's remedial Carl Jung with some Harden the Fuck Up thrown in.

He's pretty weird though and his hardcore fans are intolerable. It would be a mercy if he snapped the neck of just one random attendee at each lecture.

By "reviews", I meant reviews in newspapers and magazines by professional or semi-professional book reviewers, not randos on the Interwebs.

The "the most influential public intellectual of the Western world right now" line is from David Brooks in a column from 2018, and he's paraphrasing and agreeing with Tyler Cowen here. It's standard book publish fare here to me. Is it true? I don't know, I think it could be true, especially if you divorce the term "public intellectual" from any sort of value judgement, (e.g. I could say that Baby Shark is the most influential children's song in the Western world right now, but that doesn't mean I think it's good or not).

As for the Peterson cult, I had a feeling it was the downswing especially after Professor Peterson's Serbo-Russian trips, but looking at his YouTube's sub counts and views it seems like it's trucking along as normal, so I could very well be wrong. Still think it's going to be absolutely awful compared it's predecessor.

Canada is less relevant to the rest of the world than China, India or Russia is; Britain and the Commonwealth countries haven't been anything that matters on the global scale since the now-faded days of the British empire and its racist imperialism which it misses so much.

If anything, the entire Commonwealth should just be forcibly annexed off by the UN to China and India as reparations for its history of racist colonialism, slavery, etc.

(For that matter, siding with them during WWII may have been a mistake to begin with in retropect - we should have just let Hitler have them, since it would have been just retribution when the colonized becomes the colonized, and could have been used as a bargaining chip to prevent further costly war.)
Shut your whore mouth, slut, OH!Canada!! is ranked 10th largest economy over russia, how dare you say such things about our mother Canadisia. If you so much as dare come into our majestic forests I will knife your fucking eye out with my blade and scrape the back of your skull with my teeth. We are a gentle and kind people with a booming economy, and when the globe warms up you bitches will be begging to come up here. When you do be ready because the fucking knife is coming for your eye socket you piece of fucking shit.

I have listened to the audiobook version of his first book. I could not go past the first chapter. Instead of simplifying ideas, he over-complicates them. His rules are absolutely useless. Peterson's situation reminds me of the scene from No Country for Old Men. Chigurh before killing Carson asks him:
"If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule"?

And he actually sells lobster merchandise.
I've bought and gotten through a lot of 12 rules for life and a little of Maps of Meaning, I believe Peterson is okay, but some people really seem to either hate him a ridiculous amount or think he's the "I don't need another intellectual" level of good. If I saw some chick wearing the lobster leggings he sells I'd say it's at least a yellow flag.

Several Penguin Random House Canada employees confronted management about the company’s decision to publish a new book by controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson at an emotional town hall Monday, and dozens more have filed anonymous complaints, according to four workers who spoke to VICE World News.

Another employee said “people were crying in the meeting about how Jordan Peterson has affected their lives.” They said one co-worker discussed how Peterson had radicalized their father and another talked about how publishing the book will negatively affect their non-binary friend.

Some people might say this is 4d PR-chess by the publisher to get some publicity for their book, but honestly the simpler truth is that employees whining to VICE are doing because they can do nothing else, even though their whining is what made Peterson who he is today.

Some interesting tidbits of info here, though: the title didn't appear on internal database of future titles before its announcement, probably because of shit like this. The employees are pushing for some of the money made off 12 Rules Electric Bugaloo to be donated to LGBTQ organizations. It would be neat if people could support two diametrically opposed set of political grifters at time with a single purchase, IMHO.

I think the been counters are going to be ecstatic they can profit off both sides of the culture war with a single product.

Black rifle coffee should come out with a full throated support of St Kyle and then in the same press release say $x from every sale will go to chopping dicks off troons

jordan peterson is trending because he is apparently writing another "12 rule for life" which I think warrants a trip down memory lane. THREAD WITH CLIPS revealing him to be a grifter of the highest order, beginning with that time he got destroyed within the span of a few seconds
I don't know much about zei_squirrel, but that twitter thread has some useful clips that could be added to the OP.
