To add to this excellent post, Peterson was the one spearhead the Intellectual Dark Web had that actually worked because he understood the threat the Left represented and revealed them to be the psychotic weirdos they actually are.
No, Eric Weinstein is the one who spearheaded IDW.

Before him, people didn't think about communism at all.

The communist manifesto is in the top ten most used books on US university campuses and has been for a decaden I think people thought of communism before Peterson.

Most other members of IDW are pretty useless when it comes to doing anything, Joe Rogan being the most prominent example of useless.

Joe Rogan is the most succesful of the IDW brand. But he also needs them least. Then Ben Shapiro, then Jordan Peterson. Bret Weinstein, Eric's brother is the one who thrived most because of IDW. Gad Saad to a lesser degree. Dave Rubin it's hard to tell.

They were muddled and unfocused. Peterson, in rehashing Joseph Campbell, actually tried to push back even further and harder. During his prime, he actually displayed leadership qualities that the other members of the IDW lacked. Note that after Peterson fell off of the map, the rest of IDW did dick all with anything.

I hadn't thought about that. It's worth thinking about. You make a good point. As a counterpoint: millions show up to watch Rogan's interviews with various intellectuals.

It's really sad to see the way he is right now, and I'll probably be pissed off if I read what Leftist Twitter is saying about him. But I'm glad that the people who treated him like he was the next Messiah shut up, and that even though he has really good ideas, he's a flawed human being like the rest of us.

Weinstein started IDW as a concept, but as a loose connection of intellectuals miffed at SJW politics in academia. The effect of IDW on anything is pretty damn low. They failed to build a solid institution of their own and are politically adrift in current year. The people listed were able to build Youtube followings, but unless they went full Trump, they have no effect on political discourse. Does anyone really think the Unity party as envisioned by Bret Weinstein is viable, for instance?

What I mean about communism is Peterson effectively described it as a threat. Before Peterson, most people subscribed to Francis Fukiyama's quote about how communism was dead and gone and most of IDW labored under that assumption. Now people ask what the Frankfurt school is and wonder why BLM founders called themselves "trained marxists." The Weinstein brothers are incapable of making that kind of accusation because they think of communism as dead as every other Boomer.

Rogan also sold out to Spotify. For that $100 million, he now has to deal with Spotify's editorial board. He's officially dismissive of it now, but as we learned over the past 4 years, HR-programmed employees are going to keep at hampering Rogan in whatever way possible and it will continue to happen as those employees gain seniority. Rogan will subtly shift away from IDW just like he did with Peterson as those employees keep queering up his content. At any rate, Rogan never considered himself a leader anyways, which is part of the reason why IDW followers are so unfocused.

Communism is dead. China's not Maoist anymore and has too many billionaires for a supposed Communist country, despite the reverence they pay to Marx and Mao. Cuba isn't a threat, and neither is North Korea, despite how much they want to be. The sort of Communists you see on Twitter and every-so-often on college campuses will never have political power.

When people say things like this, you know they've never met a Communist. Otherwise they'd understand why the fears are largely overblown.

"hate speech" for opinions about biology? for supporting 3rd party candidates? he's never mean or hateful, so its gotta be one of those.

man this is so goddamn fucked up.

the reason for Peterson or any of the others success , is a reflexive feeling of loyalty we have when this shit keeps happening.
i will always listen to anybody called IDW just because Powers That Be have decided they are the enemy.
so they must be doing something right.

after election, regardless of outcome, a new or similar group will prob emerge out of ashes of old one.

right now they are probably divided to some degree.

Return home
Return Home-6_6zwVNn88o.mp4

I have returned home to Toronto after spending much of the last eighteen months in hospitals. I am hoping that my health has improved to the point where I can start producing original content again. Thank you to all who are watching for your support over the course of this trying time. I hope that you all are coping with the COVID crisis successfully. Please do not forget to subscribe to the channel to enjoy weekly videos.

For me this video shows the power of narcissism. You can go through a real life wringer, almost die several times, become like a helpless baby dependent on the help of your children etc. but you still can't acknowledge that most of it you brought on yourself. No, it just happened to you. As other mentioned ITT he still does not accept responsibility for his addiction and his bad choices after he stopped benzos. Even though it's clear for anyone that he didn't have to make these choices. He failed his wife and his family, but I didn't hear a tinge of guilt in his words, it was sorely missing. He only expressed some gratitude, but he was oblivious to the damage he wrought.

I understand the sentiment to the tune "we have to support him because he fights SJWs or we need to prop him up back because he believes in some sane ideas". However, I strongly disagree with it, and I don't think he will ever be able to regain his credibility not only because of his obvious brain damage, where he is struggling to read from the screen, but also because he still paints the wringer as "health problems", where it was clearly caused by his personal failings.

I am particularly not interested in what he has to say about Proverbs, although it might be a sign that we will now get a born-again junkie with clear religious affiliation who no longer hesitates to admit that he believes in Gcd. (mostly because he cannot comprehend anymore his previous reservations).

What was incredibly striking to me in this video, it's how his language became very stilted. As if he was a first generation college graduate, who has to use all these formal and serious sounding words to add some gravitas to his speech.

I wish him all the best, and I hope for the miracle of the neural regeneration, but at his age it's probably not very likely.

The main reason why I don't believe he can regain his credibility is because all this pathetic drama is clear antithesis of the values he is/was promoting. That's the general problem of alt-right and right-wing: we not only stand for values, but we also have to confirm them with our lives. Every person who represents these values takes on himself burden of fulfilling them on daily basis, otherwise not only he will be attacked as a person, but also will cast the doubt if these values are realistic propositions for an average human being. We are all human, yes, but notice the left has none of these restraints.

In essence right-wing values are more demanding, and they require being above average in your integrity, personal strength and truthfulness. JBP is not even average in my eyes, because of the lies he keeps telling even to himself.

When you present yourself as a moral arbiter you are going to have to live morally. Peterson probably wasn't cut out for it.

True, he's a shell of a man now, and that's not a good thing for anyone, but that's what happens when you make choices you clearly should not have.

Yeah, the TDS part of IDW will fall as they've shown they cannot adapt to current times, which is most of them. It's telling when Pinker is on the same side as JK Rowling.

The fact that anybody would think to apply the word "intellectual" to Dave Rubin is just cringeworthy.

How the fuck can her face look like it was shooped there? How? It's obviously not a shoop, there's no sign of it and the lighting checks out, but god damn, that's some scary uncanny valley shit.
The oddly shaped headpiece and weird angle make it look like there isn't enough room for her head there.

Why would anyone dress up in a lobster costume and try to look sexy?

Every time this happens I picture some low paid soyboy or chubby dangerhair in front of a computer screeching "NOT ON MY WATCH" and mashing a ban button and smugly congratulating themselves for doing their part against evil.
