Peterson grew up in the Rural Canadian North, an area that has some of the highest rates of drunk driving incidents in the entire first world, and wrote about his experiences growing up there extensively in 12 Rules for Life.
His description of the aimless youth drinking their life away, who when traveling would only recreate their miserable small town drinking aesthetics again in their tiny motel rooms rather than go out and interact with the city, was absolutely spot on.
Peterson had a deep and intimate understanding of addiction, and also spoke about his own struggles with alcohol in his youth, I believe specifically with liquor and cigarettes. He also did extensive studies on the effects of alcohol on those with a genetic predisposition towards alcoholism and their opioid-like responses to it.
He didn't need to fry his brain with Benzos to get in-depth insight into addiction.
His daughter is not attractive, though because of her health issues I don't fault her for it.
For a private person, yes. For a public figure, no.he seems pretty stable considering he had brain damage.
edit: ninjad.
From my experience talking to a lot of the people on the Left around 2016-2017 it was mainly that they wouldn't even watch his videos to see what he thought or said, or they'd see a small clip taken out of context, or they'd read an article written by someone with an agenda to call him alt-right.One thing that always boggles my mind about people who hate this guy is the irrational amount of dislike on any side. He's popular, though people who try to deconstruct the boring things he says seem like they're trying really hard to be intelligent, while the other side of the spectrum are just spergs. Either way i just feel like it's really not worth any kind of effort.
There's something about this guy that just drives people to be complete contrarians. Is it solely because he's become popular, despite preaching a generally healthy lifestyle? I don't get it.

In almost every case it was people who were too lazy to actually look for themselves to see how benign the things he was saying really were. Even if I provided them a link, they wouldn't watch it. Or i'd ask "where did he say that?", and they'd say "he didn't say it, I can just tell that's what he really means".
It was those conversation specifically where I really felt like the Left couldn't be saved anymore. I had these cretins tell me this kermit the frog talking mother fucker hated gay people, I watched his entire lecture series front and back multiple times and never once saw anything of the sort, told them so (and was sure to point out to them that I was a unique snowflake gay man), and they flat out told me I was wrong, without ever watching it.
I've never bothered with the Left ever since.
In short, and to use a phrase they seem to love these days; they didn't want to "do the work". They just want people to tell them what to believe. They have no desire to discover anything for themselves.
Because he's an idiot who doesn't have half the expertise to talk about some of the things he does. One thing that always boggles my mind about people who hate this guy is the irrational amount of dislike on any side. This is what I’m saying though; he’s obviously not an expert at all; he’s only just expressed an interest in philosophy and learning.Because he's an idiot who doesn't have half the expertise to talk about some of the things he does.
Like, what was that shit about witches living in swamps?
Because people made him that way. This is what I’m saying though; he’s obviously not an expert at all; he’s only just expressed an interest in philosophy and learning.
There’s waaay too much of an over-abundant level of hate for who the guy actually is and it’s kind of cringe. It’d make more sense to shit all over the people who expect him to be some kind of a genius or the ones that need to argue that he’s not. He’s just a strange Internet personality among other things. I’m not sure why people think he’s that big of a deal in all honesty.
Joe rogan has a new deal with a streaming service that already made him publicly apologize for saying people (antifa?) started wildfires in California. It was so embarrassingly forced too. “LISTEN GUYS. I SHOULDNT HAVE SAID THAT. I AM SORRY!!”.Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I found it telling that when Matthew McConaughey was on Joe Rogan the other day he mentioned Peterson and how good it was Peterson was recovering and Joe was silent. Not the first time that's happened since the Benzo reveal, where a guest mentions JP and Rogan says nothing, I don't listen religiously so I can't be 100% sure Rogan hasn't talked about him but I'm starting to think Peterson has been unpersoned by Joe...
Yeah. Hysterical tranny degenerates made himthat wayBecause people made him that way.

He was like that before his "free speech" opposition to c16Yeah. Hysterical tranny degenerates made himthat way
I'm not explaining his appeal, I'm explaining the reverse.I don’t know why people think we have to go into detail about why he appeals to the audience he reaches.
He’s essentially a self-help author.
He is a very deep man. Some say you can find him on the sea floorI don’t know why people think we have to go into detail about why he appeals to the audience he reaches.

Joe Rogan was the guy that abandoned Alex Jones when Youtube deplatformed him. He's not exactly a loyal person.Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I found it telling that when Matthew McConaughey was on Joe Rogan the other day he mentioned Peterson and how good it was Peterson was recovering and Joe was silent. To add to this excellent post, Peterson was the one spearhead the Intellectual Dark Web had that actually worked because he understood the threat the Left represented and revealed them to be the psychotic weirdos they actually are. Before him, people didn't think about communism at all. Now Call of Duty is awkwardly sticking Yuri Bezmenov into their game.*I don't find that hard to see at all.
First he's one of the few that works in university and has made his internet fame in the counterculture of 2016. He was able to deal with journalists, student protesters and come out on top. Mostly he drew upon a mix of his knowledge of psychology and other acafemic literature but he also used linguistic tricks. He was able to remain standing in a place where plenty of other academics, journalists and politicians had fallen.
People may remember the cathy newman interview. What people might not know how many people cathy newman had succesfully felled before him, including milo yiannopoulos who despite all his obvious glaring flaws, is quite at home and normally thriving in the talk show circuit.
So you've got this guy who's opposing all these left wing ideas, on mainstream tv and unlike nobel prize winners and other assorted people, their weapons seem to have little effect on him. Of course the left is going to be seething.
But that is far from all. Peterson has a kind of mystic attitude to him. He says that the reason ancient people used spirals is because they knew the shape of DNA. He uses Yung's language of the soul to reach people. He says he couldn't sleep for 40 days because he drank cider. That the only way to cure alcoholism is through religion. And so on and so on.
Then he takes this message and aims it at growing number of dissafected (men). They've finally got someone telling them they matter. They also see journalists and others treating him unfairly. So they become fiercely defensive of him.
The same kind of critique had been levelled at peterson decades before. There was something in his approach that caused students to be fiercely for or against him.
Right now, any tyoe of criticism of peterson at for example youtube, results in a large amount of backlash in the comments. I presume it is similar at twitter. Reddit, not so much.
The quality of criticism is irrelevant. The origin of the criticisn is irrelevant. Just criticism gets this huge response.
I think it's because he taps into spiritual part and because he'll always makes his disagreement known in a way you can't ignore.
So you've got someone who is divisive, says some obviously outrageous things, knows how to play linguistic games better than most journalists, who speaks for a segment that is not supposed to have a voice, that has a respected job that they were unable to oust him from.
Yeah, no wonder the guy got some haters.
The unexamined part of that is his detractors on the right (for censoring speech, for defending jewish ethnocentrism and attacking european ethnocentrism) and his detractors that are less politically aligned (the people following him longer and seeing through his linguistic games and mysticism).
It isn't just the shrieking harpies on the left that go on TV and say that biological gender doesn't exist, it's also his own rabidly defensive fans that is causing detractors to seethe, as well as Peterson's own games. Where he'll refuse to answer certain questions, but rather than just refusing plays linguistic games to avoid answering them
More like he revealed himself to be a weirdo with all that lobster shit. He didn't prepare against Zizek and lost.Joe Rogan was the guy that abandoned Alex Jones when Youtube deplatformed him. He's not exactly a loyal person.

Most other members of IDW are pretty useless when it comes to doing anything, Joe Rogan being the most prominent example of useless. Most IDW people are only interested in going back to 2005, which is when most of our current cultural problems started to become serious. They were muddled and unfocused. Peterson, in rehashing Joseph Campbell, actually tried to push back even further and harder. During his prime, he actually displayed leadership qualities that the other members of the IDW lacked. Note that after Peterson fell off of the map, the rest of IDW did dick all with anything.
To put it in more crass terms, Peterson was the five-inch dick of IDW. Not that remarkable by himself, but the only one who can fuck.
*I'm sure that game will be 100% woke because a corporation is making it, but my point is that the Soviets got into mainstream thought again.
Alex Jones was banned from YouTube (and other sites) in 2018. Rogan had him on the JRE podcast after that in 2019. Pretty strange way to abandon someone.Joe Rogan was the guy that abandoned Alex Jones when Youtube deplatformed him.
