Haven't watched it fully yet, but the more I hear Peterson the more I wonder how he actually got there, what people see in him.

Some talked about cults on this page, I don't think Peterson is cult leader material at all, compared to what you usually see. He's not a very good speaker despite years of teaching so it's fair to say that he doesn't have it in him, that doesn't mean that what he's saying is wrong but he lacks the confidence and the kind of arrogance you need to be a good orator, and there's a bunch of technical stuff that he could quite easily improve (for the love of God Jordan stop pausing in the middle of sentences before going in a completely different direction) which would really add to his charisma and make him look less like a high school kid giving his first presentation. I mean Zizek looks like a homeless dude who just got fresh clothes from the Red Cross, his first language isn't English and he has a terrible speech impediment and yet he manages to be more charismatic than Peterson because he's actually good at this, notwithstanding the actual content of what he's saying.

But I don't know maybe it's this kind of vulnerability that some his audience more or less consciously likes

I wasn't familiar with Peterson before this debate, my lasting impression is that it's foolishly hubristic to come into a debate like this without reading even a little of your opponent's work. hell, if he was surprised at Zizek denouncing identity politics, I'm not sure he even read the guy's Wikipedia page.

He got beaten by a Sub Italian who just read some of the writtings of some C-tier geman guy.
 
Was it really that bad? I'm not going to listen to it until I have a 2 and a half hour chuck of time to do so. I feel like Peterson tends to over-think things when it comes to things like this, which makes him sound wishy-washy. Also, he doesn't get aggressive enough, which is good sometimes, but other times, like when Michael Eric Dyson called him a mean mad white man, it makes him look unconfident. But it's understandable that he didn't snap back because it would've been spun as Peterson being an altright racist, and Dyson just speaking truth to power.
 
There's no way I'm listening to all of that, if a Kiwi who has wants to sum it up neatly I'd appreciate it. I don't expect it to be much more than two academic dinosaurs convinced of their own intellectual superiority shouting in circles for two hours and managing not to make a single salient point between them.

It is really good. Not a win/lose. Rather , an understanding of different points of view.
 
Honestly the fact that even much of the right is either making fun of him for fucking up the debate, expressing interest in Zizek's works, or crying about Daddy's flub has really earned him a spot in the cow pantheon even more so than the cider thing. That's just pure arrogance and hubris right there.

So far we can all agree that JBP purpose is to "rescue the KEK Boys" who grew up without a father figure and prevent them from taking the Honk Pill by attacking the SJW+QWERTY+MEDIA Dragon so as to became their Hero against Clown World insanity, but since the things he is fighting against are obviously insane (feminism and 26 genders) he never needed a lot of intellectual firepower like in this debate because he usually slay idiots or walking stereotypes.

So it was really dumb for him to debate someone whitout checking his work, but JBP has done this before by talking about the Bible admitting he never finished reading it for example.

His presentation to Trilateral Comision (EDIT: I mistook it for CFR) about the rise of populism was very bad also, because it is standard "let me repeat what I always say even though it has nothing with the question you ask me"

He was asked about why Democracy are in danger and he answered with "wash your balls"
