Man, I've admittedly been a fairly big Peterson simp. Even after he got hooked on benzos and almost died in a Russian hospital. I always preferred his discussions on archetypes, meaning, and the metaphysical over his political ramblings which always felt stale even back in 2016.

Him going on Shapiro's payroll was questionable enough, but now this softball interview with Netanyahu and his rabid lashing out at people rightfully being critical of it really put things into perspective and tainted the good will I still had for him. I'll just appreciate him steering me towards figures like Jung, Solzhenitsyn, and Dostoevsky and move on.

I disagree with people around this sphere in the sense that Peterson wasn't always without merit.

I read 12 Rules for Life and I must say I don't remember anything about it but one particular instance where he let a smiley in the text and I thought "Wow, they are going to eat this guy alive".

This is something that typically translates as "Please, don't hurt me" and is something women who don't really wanna go the whole Girlboss route do in the environment, which makes them targets to bullying, which in turn creates a certain female office stereotype, but I digress.

The thing is that Peterson jumped to fame as an early voice against the then early trans offensive, and then enjoyed the attention as a rising conservative voice.

Unfortunately, the Alt Right was rising too and he got conflated with them, as he should know he would, and that scared the fuck of good old conservative Jordan who is all for traditional values but wants nothing to do with them wacky nazis and is a proud supporter of Israel.

This fucked him up good and he bent backwards to keep the conservative talking points while distancing himself from the Trumperreich.

Second, the limelight burns, and it has been noted early on this thread that his whole career is based on nothing. Very abstract core principles that exist on the minds of intellectuals and poorly translate in the real world: Post-modernism, psychoanalysis, post structuralism and other philosophical masturbations.

He doesn't have anything practical to bring to the table politically, in terms of philosophy or in terms of therapy, and when he does try he finds himself selling very basic statements as if he was Socrates reborn, statements like "Clean your room, bucko" and other basic stoic bitch landmarks

When he realised this he tried to go against all these things but he can't because these things inform, and has informed for so many years, his worldview, body of work and manner of thinking.


Third, probably, was the realisation that his personal life is hilariously dysfunctional. And on this regards I think there is a story with Mikhaila and Mrs Peterson we have not been told.

There is absolutely nothing cowardly about wanting to be anonymous online especially in 2022's social climate. Something as simple as an off color racial joke or pointing out giving HRT to a 15 year old is damaging can be enough for people to call your employer or get you expelled from university. No shit people don't want to use their real identity. What a complete moron.

One thing Peterson seems to have conveniently forgotten is that when he first spoke out against Bill C-16, he was a tenured professor.

It is very difficult to fire tenured faculty, and even in Cancuckistan, the University of Toronto would have had an extremely hard time making their case for termination. And Peterson himself knew that. So when he spoke out, he did it knowing damned well that he was not in imminent danger of losing his job over it. The University might have been able to force him onto administrative leave for a while, "pending investigation," but he still would have been paid and receiving all the benefits of tenured faculty.

The political climate has only got worse since then, and there's a heavy price to be paid by any common citizen without a solid platform of support who dares to speak out. Peterson bloody well knows this, so to denounce anonymous posters as "cowards," when they could very well face consequences he himself was immune from, shows just how far off the rails his thinking is.

He had the luxury of being able to speak against Bill C-16 without losing his livelihood. Yes, there were other costs; I'm sure he lost a lot of friendships, and of course he's been the target for unrelenting hate from the left for years, now. He also gave up that tenured position so he could go off and save the world, and I think he regrets it. But it's deeply clueless—if not hypocritical—for him to accuse people who are effectively on his side of cowardice because they choose not to speak out under their own names.

Peterson loves to go on about Solzhenitsyn, but seems to have forgotten that Solzhenitsyn's novella about life in a gulag, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, was originally published under a pseudonym, lest the Soviet government ship Solzhenitsyn off to a gulag for writing it.

I avoid trolling, but god damn, I just want to tell him to pour himself a nice glass of cider and chill the fuck out. His screeching and name-calling is just so undignified.
 
Peterson was never capable of dealing with the heat even before he broke his brain. As I’ve said before here, he’s not equipped to deal with the fame and notoriety, few of us do, but the difference is he runs right in the middle of it all and tries to fight the demon trolls one at a time. Seems ridiculous when there are thousands of trolls and he’s just one guy but there’s several screws loose so he’s just going to be determined to make an even bigger ass of himself. Him working for Ben Shapiro was a very bad idea from the get go and I’m sure they are contemplating telling Jordan to take some time off to collect his thoughts. He’s an active hindrance to the brand right now.

I hate Elmo too. Am I wrong? He's the most prominent example of how children's entertainment is a lot dumber than it used to be, because it's possible to compare pre- and post-Elmo Sesame Street. Other examples of conspicuously stultifying children's television, such as the Teletubbies, can only be compared directly to themselves.
