I don't understand how you can take an old man to serbia for treatment, come back, proclaim the place you went had no clean water or plumbing, and seemingly not be worried that's going to look bad?
 
Did she go to a fucking illegal clinic in a gypsy slum or something? Serbia is not the third world and they definitely have running water and electricity.

I mean there are problems, sure, but I don't believe she went anywhere near the places where there is outright no plumbing or internet, since she's been with her dad who has been in (most likely high end) clinics which are only at/around big cities that have all the infrastructure you need. Same for clean tap water unless she meant drinking water which is a problem in many places, but people usually buy filters for it - not like anyone drinks it. There may be no Amazon, but you can order most shit delivered to your door (especially now with rona when every shop tries to make it possible)

And instead of taking these experiences as a reminder that knowledge is just time investment, they instead go "haha ups anyway Ive got a PhD btw", instead of "oh, well maybe I need to learn some common stuff as well in this modern age".

That's my primary gripe with resumes and job hunting in these days. "Black on white is so much more professional!", but it also only takes some drag-dropping on a template website to create a resume that'd imply you know graphics design.

I'm back with reflections about beef podcast. It took me a while, because I had to go to work, duh, and 1h podcast is for both ways.

So I know Robb Wolf from my general interest in diet, although I don't believe in Paleo, and he is the type who also started Crossfit hype. These people share religious zeal with vegans, but pretend they are better somehow.
Some interesting tidbits:
  • the book presents clear statistics about the environmental impact of animal husbandry (it's not as bad as vegans tell us)
  • the actual social impact of banning animal husbandry would be disastrous for many communities in poorer regions where nothing but grass grows anyway
  • it would also negatively impact children, as lack of animal protein intake limits the brain development
  • he discusses global warming effects with a nice anecdote that someone told him that people who question global warming usually also question Holocaust
  • I think Mikhaila did the hosting part quite well, she was asking semi-interesting questions and faded into background as a good host should
  • Robb Wolf claims that after he stopped eating some vegetables he stopped being sensitive to dairy
  • brought up important issues of soil depletion and the fact our grain farming depends on fossil fuels

What I really disliked about the podcast is that Robb did not say much about possible negative impact of eating beef on health. He also did not stress the most damaging part of modern Western diet which are highly processed vegetable oils such as soybean oil. One of the absurdities he spewed was that the most dangerous are sugar and juices, and he recommended to drink diet soda (!!!). Personally, I don't respect anyone who say that sugar is oh so dangerous. Yes, you should not eat too much sugar, but it's not as dangerous as other aspects of modern diet.

They knew each other for some time, and her podcast was to help him shill his book "The Sacred Cow".

She got plane tickets to Siberia, not Serbia, easy mistake. Her father has been rescued by Yakut reindeer herders and is recovering nicely on an all venison diet.

I just got a mental image of JP laying on a stack of reindeer pelts in the corner of Yurt droning on to the herders about making your bed and cancel culture and masculinity while they shrug because they don't speak English.
 
Peterson never left Canada. The reason why they claim him to have left, is because he was always an obvious junkie. The way he talked and the mannerisms he displayed were typical for a high functioning drug addict. As a clincal psychologist he might have had easier access to Ritaline. He hit it a bit too hard for too long and it all came crashing.
Claiming he left the country makes it seem like there was nobody that could help him in Canada, which is simply not true. It absolves him from being an obvious hypocrite and makes him seem like a victim. His daughter didn't book or do anything, just take a look at her. She's a dumb instagram whore and nothing she does is intelligent or smart. She even married a loser and regrets it which is why she copes by posting selfies on instagram (without her husband). Oh and did I mention she has a child by her loser (ex) husband whom she obviously did not love or respect?
There is no way she does anything to help her dad out of her own volition. What's going on is that he's instructing her to write and do all this shit in an attempt to save face.
She's playing along because his books and what not must be bringing in decent money and she gets a part of it or all of it sooner or later.

Peterson used to be extremely overweight, and his daughter is, too, despite being a fitness trainer (?). They are both psychologically damaged, it might run in the family. Which is why they resort to extreme diet forms ("carnivore diet"). Peterson replaced food with an actual drug addiction. His daughter is still kind of fat, she probably binge eats and vomits (bulimy). She'll probably replace this with an addiction to plastic surgery sooner or later.

I've been following him for a while, actually since he appeared on the internet. You don't just change your life from obese fat, balding loser who lives at a university in a joke field (sociology/psychology) that stutters like mad to hyper active smart eloquent winner with a sudden regrowth of hair and massive weight loss over night. Just by wishing for it, or trying really hard it's not going to happen. He had multiple addictions (food addiction, he probably also has multiple fetishes and disorders) which he replaced with drugs. Benzos aren't the important ones though, they don't make you "smart". Ritalin on the other hand, would. Also called Adderall in the US I believe. One of the effects is that you can suddenly talk like you are really smart, even if what you are saying is just common sense.
Which is exactly what Jordan Peterson is famous for.
There's also something about his voice, it often sounds like he is permanently on the verge of a neurotic breakdown. And I'm not just talking about the high pitch.
