When I talked to bogleech a lot on aim he would tell me about this behaviour and it was pretty sad. Basically when he focused on deviantart a lot of people really held him on a pedestal. Quite a few of them were creepy obsessive because of bogleech’s unique personality.

He’s always kind of had liberal views like hating religion (fyi I’m christian) and republicans, so when he got into fights with these obsessive followers who thought he was something else, they continued to latch onto him negatively. I think more than half of the people here are like that.

I miss bogleech because I considered him a very close friend. It’s sad to see how angry he’s becoming.

At the time there weren’t a huge amount of artists, toy collectors, biology fanatics and all of that other quirky stuff rolled into one guy. He was really interested in sharing with new people, educating them, showing off weird things he has found or making them laugh. There was just something fresh about a guy born on Halloween that loved to collect vintage he-man monsters and plastic deep sea fish

He used to be a janitor and he even made that fun and interesting when he talked about it. Sometimes I hope he lightens up still. I don’t think he’s completely resilient to change yet. I wouldn’t mind if he kept his views but just decided to keep them separate or to himself. But I think a lot of his close friends now are openly communist.

It is not so much his political views that people have an issue with, myself included, it is just that he is now so abrasive and obnoxious about fuming over anybody that disagrees with him and he automatically resorts to bizarre personal attacks and gets set off at things that are so minor and strange that it is almost impossible to figure out what the issue is beforehand.

I miss being his friend as well, but at the same time, this is tempered by how quickly he threw so many people who were his friends under the bus the moment he went "woke". His hypocritical rants do not help, either. He always was a "leftist", and that was never the problem...it is just that he eventually became a screeching tumblrina-stereotype and that is 98% of what he seems to be now. He genuinely seemed happier years ago before all of this. I find it hard to believe that he was really as miserable as he claimed to be back in those days.

So, I guess the main reason why I follow this thread is kind of like a mixture of nostalgia for back then as well as a sort of morbid fascination as to how he became what he is today.

If I may ask @Medabee, what makes you so hopeful that he can come back from this?

As much as I hope anyone can learn to get along with people they might not agree with, for him it might take years of growth. You have to first acknowledge how unrealistic you are being about huge parts of the population first and I think that’s what is so frustrating to see from the outside. I’m not optimistic but I’m still hopeful.
 
On bawg side, I didn't find noticeable big chimpout outside the usual eyebrow rising post. Also he discovered the spamton smut on twitter..

He grew up in Florida and lived there until the late-2000's. He did not move to Portland until after he married Reverche in the early-2010's. I am not entirely sure why he moved, but I suspect it was because he wanted to live in a place that is basically a real-life version of Tumblr. That way he could be among his fellow wokesters.

Besides the frankly schizo level of misanthropy towards all humans, I love the stupid mention of "bigger, meaner Japanese hornets but they're herbivores..." like he only briefly realized how retarded his imaginary murder animals are. Newsflash: if all of these existed, enough to wipe out humankind, they 100% would result in killing off the rest of the planets animals and critically damaging the fragile ecosystem worse than even humans would thanks to his obsession that they all be propagating and resistent.

Dude also seems to run on the idea that the entire world is the west and there are not entire nations that would go scorched Earth on some of these creatures - even just out of pure spite.

Edit: That entire post on Fundies is just pure r/Atheism. Saying a "vast proportion of the wealthy" are religious right fundies in 2022 is bordering on projection for whatever it is he believes in. It's ironic, for being so against religion here he has ended up the most obsessed with his own beliefs about swaths of people he barely knows off his own anecdotes.

Those are systemically culled(see bog, it not because they can regenerate they can't be killed in creative way) why because technically they are sea pest reproducing like rabbit and destroying coral riff
