Jonah Goldberg, a longtime conservative political journalist and cable news pundit, is joining CNN, the network confirmed on Monday.

Goldberg has been hired by CNN to serve as a political commentator and will be based in Washington, D.C. Goldberg is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of conservative online political commentary website The Dispatch and has authored three New York Times best-selling books.

Goldberg and fellow conservative scribe Stephen Hayes late last year announced they were leaving Fox News, where they had both been contributors for years, saying they had grown increasingly uncomfortable with the tone and content of much of Fox News's opinion content and arguing the publication of prime-time host Tucker Carlson's documentary series examining the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol was a breaking point.

"Indeed, the news side of Fox routinely does what it is supposed to do: It reports the truth," the pair wrote in a blog post about their decision. "But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible."

Fox News said at the time of Goldberg's and Hayes's departure that the network did not plan to renew their contracts as contributors.

NBC announced late last month that it had hired Hayes to be a contributor and political analyst, and he is slated to be a key contributor to the network's special political and election coverage, including on streaming platforms.

CNN did not provide additional details about Goldberg's role.

The network dominated media headlines last week following the news of CNN President Jeff Zucker's resignation, which came along with revelations of a romantic relationship with another senior executive that he did not disclose to the company.

Goldberg's first day at CNN will be March 1.

No one cares, you closeted homo.

Does CNN think they can poach Fox viewers with a member of Conservatism Inc.?

I read Goldberg's book Liberal Fascism almost 15 years ago, back when I had typical neocon beliefs. Even then, I found his arguments unconvincing, so the man can't even preach to the choir correctly. His insistence that liberals are secretly fascists because Cole Porter referenced Mussolini in You're the Tops was especially silly.

That's not what he said. The point of bringing up the song was to demonstrate how Mussolini was viewed by the world pre-WWII.

Almost posted this here myself when I learned of it but was too heartbroken. I was a big Jonah fan for years (have all 3 of his books). This is kind of like watching Kenobi put down his lightsaber and join with Darth Vader.

You never had to like Trump, my man! You just didn't have to join the enemy!

Some quality tweets on the matter.

Forget the black pill, I'm taking the cyanide pill.

I am guessing he made this deal before leaving Fox and if so I hope watching the various scandals CNNs gone through recently have left him feeling like the rat that left a sinking ship for the island that turns out to be currently having a volcanic eruption.
