I think it is so brutal to show how despicable the boss is. He wasn't just willing to kill his own flesh and blood, he was willing to kill this naive child that was part of himself and protected himself for so long. He doesn't even care to give him a goodbye.
Diavolo literally did nothing wrong, aside from not using protection.

Diavolo is a reetarded MGTOW who should’ve just poisoned her food one day or something back in Sardinia instead of being stupid enough to entrust her delivery to one of his most compassionate gang members
To be fair, he had to make 100% sure she was dead and the best way to do that was to kill her himself

He literally could’ve just had doppio pose a a kid in her school, they already proved that Doppio can pose as a child

He also had to do it quick, otherwise she'd sense his presence and his hostile intent. Stand users, especially bound by blood, are tied by fate (a major theme in JoJo). So he couldn't just risk deception. That intent to kill would have been in his soul so he'd be caught out by Trish instantly. Just like in Stardust Crusaders with Jotaro, Joesph and Dio, sensing each other both physically and their emotional state.

That's why the boss had to be there. He couldn't risk her having cold feet and getting away. King Crimson's range is pretty small, so she could have easily escaped him. He couldn't predict or really care about Buccarati's reaction. Even so, he backs the fuck off once the crew comes at him. And he doesn't show himself for a long ass time. He only does when they're inches close to figuring him out and he has no choice and is super fucking pissed about it.

I forget how he even found her, I don't think the boss knew of her existence until it was way too late. He used Giorno and co. because they were the closest to her and he had just been made capo. And the boss was NOT going to come out of hiding at all. He even hated coming out as Doppio, he only did it to kill Abbachio. He resorted to basically decimating the entire city of Rome by using two sociopaths who were so disgusting it lead to a seven page MUDA, instead of coming out and doing it himself.

He ONLY comes out when the stakes are at their highest. He doesn't risk shit. That's why he didn't kill Trish earlier. He didn't know, and wouldn't risk it until she had no possible chance of escape, which is why he hides on top of the elevator. Even if he couldn't predict Buccarati's betrayal, as I said before, it didn't matter. King Crimson is just too powerful for him alone to take on. But he books it when he's outnumbered.

I don’t like Diavolo as a “character” but I like him as an “entity”. Who he is as a person is far less interesting to me (aside from Doppio) than his history and his impact on the world

Well, that's basically how I feel he's intended to be interpreted, as this force of nature. Doppio, poor Doppio, represents who he used to be or could have been, but he just became this monstrous thing instead who pretends to care. But he basically looks at Doppio like a shed snake skin. He's so far from that now he's basically irrelevant. Which is why their minds split. And why Doppio just doesn't understand. You don't get the feeling he even knows what 'winning' is or even what the conflict is about. So in a sense he's innocent in all of this.

In a lot of ways, Diavolo is like of Shuiesha didn’t butt in when it came to Dio’s depiction in part 3.

He should have just left her the fuck alone. Did anyone in the entire organization (besides him obviously) even know she existed before the events of VA?

Tbf, Risotto probably did or was at least close to finding out. I’m guessing his whole “kill Trish” plot was to prevent Risotto from using her psychic link with him against him. If he had just killed her and Bruno in Venezia, he never would’ve needed to even bring Doppio out to kill Risotto and Abbacchio.

Tbh, if La Squadra just stayed together and teamed up against our “traitors” and Diavolo’s guards, they probably could’ve killed him with ease. Just imagine if they pulled Diavolo into MITM’s realm with either grateful dead or white album inside, Diavolo would be standless and dying

If he just waited for Bruno to leave and then kill her, there would be no problem.
Diavolo probably saw Bruno putting the ladybug brooch on him using epitaph so that's probably why he wanted to kill Bruno too for being a traitor based on how he showed no surprise that Bruno was in the basement.

Gotta say I'm happy how much better the quality is staying this time around. The last episode in particular had a REAL fucking goofy Diavolo face but besides some discrepancies here and there, it'e been much better than DiU's awful falloff.

Bought the first Blu-Ray (since the first two parts are probably my favorite) and goddamn I love the art and music in PB and BT. I'm also gaining a much greater appreciation for Jonathan as time goes on. Poor guy.

Come to think of it, was there a particular reason they split up in the first place to deal with the main gang? Sometimes it makes sense (Little Feet dude trying to take out Narancia while he’s on his own) but every other fight is like 1v5. Pretty much every fight would have been better served by having two or more of them teaming up.

The reason they couldn’t team up against Diavolo is because they couldn’t figure out who he was. I don’t remeber if Risotto knew about Doppio’s identity, or if he just thought Doppio was a high-level agent.

Still think the plot to kill Trish was to prevent Risotto from using her telepathy against him

Jonathan is definitely the most tragic out of all the Jojo's. Stone Ocean Spoilers
Joylene is mitigated by basically re-setting the universe so Jotaro and her have a good life, instead of Jotaro being like George and protecting Joylene from this DIO insanity and Stand Assassins. She basically erases DIO's equal from existence itself by letting Emperio get away. Reflecting, if David could pull off the whole Universe reset with Irene = Joylene like Araki intended, it will unironically probably be the best end to this Jojo universe. Everyone is peaceful, DIO's legacy is erased from reality, Jotaro gets to have a family spared from the Joestar curse, the Joestars live in peace.

If he just waited for Bruno to leave and then kill her, there would be no problem.

Trish would have realized he was going to kill her and then panicked and escaped. King Crimson's Range is like in front of your face, so he had to do it right there. Plus the lengths the boss goes to conceal himself is fucking crazy. Trish's telepathy would have sensed that shit instantly and she'd have gone. He had to risk doing it in front of Bruno.

What he didn't count on was Giorno and the others willing to go to bat.

Ah my friend, he DID kill Bruno in Venezia
