Filthy Frank strikes me as one of those things that'll continuously be rediscovered by lovers of the absurd and the internet. I really can't say the same for Joji's music.
That's pretty how it is with every e celeb who takes that route, especially ironic channels. They try to branch out with more "serious" stuff only for their audience to leave them and for their plans to fall flat on their face. Look at TheBestGamers when they tried to make more "serious" reviews (The Loudhouse), they got fewer views, they weren't as good, and there was tension between some of their members with their new direction. Or ParkourDude91/Jace after the reveal when he decided to "move on" and has barely done fuck all since online.

Still considering what I've seen happen with some YouTube channels and others on the internet it's better to end it here than to devolve into unfunny content.

I can SORTA feel for Jace, in that it's difficult to top playing Poe's Law so hard most of us were tricked for months.

But yeah, people've gotta learn that "star power" isn't what it used to be. Especially on the internet, people aren't just gonna accept massive genre shifts because they like the guy involved.

Maybe he has other things to do in his life and being some Internet faggot isn't on his list of priorities any more.

While his fans might be sad, as @CIA Nigger said its preferable that he quit while he's ahead instead of slowly fizzling out into mediocrity over time.

I'm sure the Simpsons has taught us all a lesson in continuing a creative project past its prime. Hell, even South Park is starting to show signs of fatigue with the last few seasons.

I don't give a shit about the fact he's stopped making videos, it's the fact that it makes zero fucking sense that he's "quitting comedy" as a whole. God help us if he ends up like George Takei.

Also, the throat damage is bullshit considering he's still doing the "serious singing" thing which is infinitely more strenuous than doing grumpy voices for funny videos on the internet. Maybe he ate glass or something, who knows.

No joke, if a friend told me Filthy Frank ate glass in one of his videos for shitposting reasons I'd have to consider whether I believed them or not.

This is a good reason to prefer independent content creators over soulless corporations running television stations. They can end their projects when they want, without having a CEO yell to their face "no, now go make 20 more seasons" because they're under contract.
It's sad FF was cut down in it's prime, it didn't feel even close to being stale yet. But it definitely would have gotten over time. How much time, nobody can say. I just hope Joji's other ventures are successful, despite the probably of that being low in regards to other online content creators trying and failing to move on from what made them popular, as mentioned before in this thread. But if Joji's serious about his medical state making it too difficult for him to continue with FF, then, unlike those other guys who just wanted more money or to be "taken seriously", Joji is more liable for sympathy for genuinely being unable to do what he used to.

Talk about post holiday blues news. I really like Joji's stuff and it's sad to see him move away from comedy, it's where he shines. Here's hoping that his serious stuff goes well too.

Don't really know much about him. He's the pink guy? For a long time I thought he was a DJ because that's such a DJ sounding name.

Sucks that it's over. Sucks even harder that's I know his rap career is gonna go nowhere and fade out. Like somebody else said, when youtubers make sudden shifts in content it normally falls flat

Personally everything after E.T.2 was going downhill in quality. That said I do hope he keeps the pink guy raps up or at least incorporate some elements of it, its probably the closest to the sort of shock jockey "90's eminem" rap we've got especially now that the actual eminem is fucking terrible (Though I'd be lying if "You got buns, I got Aspergers" wasn't an amazing bar)
