Republican Sen. John McCain, an internationally renowned Vietnam War hero who served for 30 years in the Senate representing Arizona, died Saturday due to complications stemming from brain cancer.

His office said in a statement that his wife Cindy McCain and their family were alongside him when he died.

"At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for sixty years," his office said.

McCain, 81, was a part of many of the past three decades' most significant political moments. He was the 2008 Republican presidential nominee in a contest he lost to President Barack Obama. He also sought the presidency in 2000, mounting a primary campaign against President George W. Bush.

A graduate of the Naval Academy, the Arizona Republican followed both his father and grandfather, who were four-star admirals, into the US Navy, where he carried out airstrike missions.

also for those of you who dont know what he did in 'nam that made him so damn infamous well here you go.

McCain was a badass Vietnam vet who didn't play by the rules. The last of the true American heroes. Semper fi, you served your country better than Trump even.

I'm curious about the things Kathy Griffin said about McCain when he ran against her Obamessiah in 2008.

I recall a ton of Obama supporters saying shit like how slavery would come back if McCain won, or how McCain would start WWIII because he's "so obsessed" with the military (which is a valid concern to a certain extent, to be fair-- but I digress).

It's amazing how leftists are now singing his praises these days when they painted him to be the devil incarnate in the 2008 Election. Whatever is convenient for the narrative, am I right guys?

American politics in a nutshell. Hated one day, loved another. Granted, I supposed it was because he wasn't as bad as they thought, but backpedaling is common. I suppose they think that anybody is better than Trump at this point.

Man a lot of these people forget that this guy sperging out about how we needed to militarily reprimand Russia for acting in Georgia in 2008 tossed a real anchor around this guys campaign. Honestly makes all these same people flock to his side for saying basically the same things again all the funnier to me.

If he'd gracefully retired from congress after being diagnosed with this rather bad form of brain cancer, I'd certainly feel less relief at his death. As it was, him determining to carry that seat with him to the hospital and back curried little good favor. I'm sure he was thinking of his constituents when he was doing it too. I just can't bring myself to feel as upset and remorseful at his death as some of the people in this thread when he spent most of his time with diagnosed brain cancer trying to get us throw our military at someone.

I guaran-fucking-tee you this:

If any Republican (that wasn't Trump) had been the one against Hillary Clinton in 2016, they would have been called a racist, sexist, Nazi, etc. Even John McCain. No question. It would have absolutely happened.

It IS politics in a nutshell. The only consistency political ideologues have is taking whatever stance that can benefit "their team."

I was never a McCain fan but what you're taking about actually pisses me off. All these Lefties shedding crocodile tears and using his corpse to virtue signal and concern troll against Trump and other Republicans.
I just find all these McCain lovers who ten years ago were on the Obama train to be utterly disgusting. Did any of these pricks agree with McCain on anything?
The answer is no and now every shitlib in America is saluting to their beloved "War Hero" and "Good Republican". The whole situation is just appallingly dishonest and hypocritical.

I only feel sorry for his mother. A caring parent or guardian who has to see their offspring or ward die is a truly sad scene.

What a bitch. Her tweet is just pretentious and superficial. The only reason she cares about McCain was because of his Obamacare vote rather than his military service or achievements. She would've been shitting on him with the rest of the twitter and tumblr speds for being a pro-life white man.

This basically.

Must’ve smelled the sweet scent of burning uranium rounds. What comes around goes around.

1) DU's toxic effect is because it is a heavy metal. You'd have to snort a line of it.
2) It is less radioactive than natural uranium.
3) Don't let your kids play in burned out Russian junk that litters the battlefield.

You don't have to agree with someone's politics to feel sympathetic when they die of cancer. Plus minds can change after ten years.
