I'm not gonna try to be an expert on his thought process, but it's clear he was interested in staying young and beautiful forever. He was concerned with it not destroying his physical appearance but still being something that would be relatively painless. A gun in the mouth works for painless but it would ruin his look - especially from the back.

I wonder if he could go back and do it again, he'd glue the bandana to his head so he wouldn't lose his iconic look.

Also, only 730 videos left to go from his YouTube channel.

His suicide videos are now no longer on Google drive and the decomposition videos haven't been updated since the 26th. Oddly the decomposing folder was modified Aug 5 for some reason.

His YouTube keeps posting pictures and posts and comments are saying you can't schedule pictures and posts like you can do with videos. Someone may be running his account but I'm not a content creator so I have no idea.

The whiplash of sadness at his suicide and giggling at his silly image macros and strange creations is a visceral experience. I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I hope the thread can move on to celebrate his best creations.

Rest in peace Joe Winko. I wish I could have known you sooner and told you that you were an interesting and funny man.

The posts section in YouTube studio has a "scheduled" tab, I haven't scheduled a community post before but it looks like you can

I am absolutely convinced the sonichu medallions are literally cursed. I've never believed in super natural phenomena before, but the pattern of destruction is too evident to ignore.

Whoever comes into possession of one these eldritch artifacts immediately goes nuts or begins decomposing.

It's evil. It's the only explanation.

He should’ve asked the Catholic priest about the medallion. The Catholic church is one of the only places that takes stuff like this seriously.
 
Hi! Thread tourist here. Never knew this one existed, so I decided to read it in my lunch break. Obviously I am here from the feature but I decided to go in from page 1.

What a rollercoaster. I am very sad for this loss. Joe seemed like a troubled, albeit very funny and quirky gentleman. The OP said he feared death, but it didn’t really seem like it toward the end. He seemed to embrace it… maybe to become a character God’s never ending game of The Sims (1,2, 3 or 4…), but who knows?

That video was indeed painful to watch, and even with the annotations, I couldn’t help but watch it. What an incredibly bad ass way to go. Still sad that it had to come to this.

RIP Joe Winko. I didn’t know you until today, but I wish I had. If I played any of the games you’ve made mods for, I certainly would’ve added you. Just a really sad situation, but it seemed like the proper ending for him.

He had shit rough in his life long before the medallion and he stayed consistently himself to the end. The "medallion curse" meme does not even apply here. This isn't a situation where he made a sudden turn, he was the same eccentric guy he always has been even when taking his life and I think that says something about the quality of guy he was.

EDIT:I just found out youtube apperently unsubbed me from his channel at some unknown time. I resubbed even if it's post-mortem.

EDITX2: Noticed the MATI streams looking at the thread right now. Should check joe's channel,. there;'s an explanation behind why he did it on there.

He originally planned to weaponzie the medallions against his ex lovers. He used the medallions instead to speed up his death but it backfired.

i can't even imagine what had been going on in his mind for him to go through with this. was there really no way for him to get medical help? he seemed like he regretted it as it happened.

I think the medallion did curse him. He thought wearing the necklace would make himself die faster,but it works on final destination rules and only slowed down his death and made it more agonizing IMO.

Before this thread is locked might I suggest amending the OP to alter the section that the only thing he fears is death? Because he evidently and unfortunately got over that fear and I think if nothing else the tense of the words should be changed, just wanted to put in my two cents before the thread gets locked.

It's hard to imagine even the most suicidal of men not regretting a death like that. I'm not a doctor but I've seen what a less concentrated solution does to meat and I can't imagine how horrible it would be to experience that from the inside out. That's discounting the typical regret that happens with a slow suicide. I'm not yet sure why he chose that method out of others but if I were to speculate it would be a combination of availability and success rate of suicide, ingest too much(which is to say still a relatively small amount) and no amount of medical intervention is likely to save you by the time help arrives for those who do experience regret. Even death by gunshot has a note worthy failure rate and when it does fail the results are visually horrifying while poisoning survivors only have testimony to discourage it as a method,
