Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Since we dont have the winner sticker option, I have to say this comment wins the award. The time period following WW2 in the US was an aberration in human history, as you say the "normal" we all long for was not normal at all.

The optics and fallout would be wayyy better long term for America domestically and as a superpower if we went scorched earth bombing the fuck out of everything and air dropping troops while top brass/politcos fall on their swords. Even if we took massive casualties. We need to regain our honor even if its at the cost of blood.

Not saying we should do that but it would be less embarassing somehow than this.
