Bad news. My JCS archive has been taken down due to a copyright claim. I didn't even know that could happen on Mega. Though it does mean that someone on the JCS team is aware of this thread, which I think is very funny.

I'm choosing not to dispute it as that opens the door for legal action. Not only can I not afford that, I'm not interested in doxing myself.

Not to worry, though, as I still have the full archive backed up locally. I've run through the whole thing by hand and no videos that were in it have been lost. Based on what I've been able to gleam from their terms of service, Mega's copyright system isn't like YouTube's content ID; they don't actually view the files and have no idea what they are. They do, however, register the byte sequence of the data and automatically remove everything that matches - which means we're likely SOL for keeping the videos easily watchable in the Mega file system.

I still care about these videos remaining publicly available, so if anyone has a better idea for file hosting, let me know. The total size of the archive is currently 21GB.

Rumble or Odysee are good places to start, altho you will have to manually upload every single video there. There are alternatives to file hosting, like Pixeldrain of Gofile, but I think you will have to pay for those if you want the files to stay up forever.

crazy how this went from a trend to dead so quickly. i remember subbing to JCS and one of his paywalled videos was an interrogation but it was about the crime of giving aids to a gay dude. it really made me realize how fucked this whole thing was

There's only so many of these, and I suppose that's a good thing. I prefer Police Activity I suppose, for more situational awareness and tactics. Integrations should always just be 'talk to my lawyer' even if you're brought in as a 'witness'. People are probably still too dumb to notice they're put in a 5x5 deadened room with a few cams and will talk. I mean, mostly cops get all the info at the scene and never get that far, but if it does.. Even if they say you're 'only a witness' they'll end up locking you up as an accessory.

Cops think of you as an IT person thinks of a ticket. Close that shit, no matter what, right or wrong.

Wow JCS has fallen off. There's nothing really special about the case vs classics like Russell Williams. Wow a narcissistic murderer! Shocking!

At this point JCS is just trading on a name, lazily clipping together police interviews while offering narration that's more about berating the interviewee rather than offering any insight. It's no better than the sloppa channels though at least they have a consistent upload schedule.

I think Matt Orchard's videos are proof that there's still life left in the concept but it's not good enough anymore to narrate over interview footage and call it a day. He still manages to find interesting ways to cover cases that have been done to death and JCS certainly has the resources to do the same but chooses not to.

The snark has come and gone in the past, but it feels particularly cringe now. Maybe it appeals to redditors?

That would be way more preferable than reaction clips. At least there's some soul in bottom text memes.

All true. I enjoy True Crime Loser but it weirds me out that he collaborates with JCS at times.
