Even if you're basically just another e-thot, doing cosplay still gives you an edge. You can pander to the kind of lonely loser incel who fantasizes about relationships with their favorite Anime or video game waifus, as pathetic as that may seem.
They'll probably be completely unhinged and won't stop bitching about men. This will largely happen because they spend a lot of their time online and not doing stuff outside which makes them become a recluse. You won't believe how many of these women are basically shut-ins who never leave their house besides to go grocery shopping occasionally. I mean I don't have any exact numbers but if you browse their twitter they'll tell on themselves. This wouldn't usually be a problem but that plus an excessive amount of internet usage doesn't usually do good things to your mental health. On top of that they will be doing really degenerate shit because they're no longer that hot anymore.
It's depressing but true. I've been dabbling in cosplay myself as a hobby for the making aspect. But I know that I won't get much notice compared to a low effort thot. I'm okay with that though. I have a lot of fun just making my cosplays. Also cons were a fucking nightmare when I used to go. Like high school bitchiness magnified to 11. Nigress just embodies so much of the shit I find offputting about the hobby. And I get annoyed at all the much more talented women who kiss her arse despite her mediocrity.
I can totally understand that, but personally I'm not really all that salty about her anymore. She saw a chance to make easy money and took it. Yes, she's not (as much of) a nerd as she says she is, but it's all part of her persona. She's relatively drama free and generally looks well put together. Even though she might not make her own costumes, you can tell she works hard to keep herself fit and clean, which is more than can be said about some other cosplayers. She could have jumped on the porn bandwagon, but she chose not to and still makes the same kind of content that made her famous in the first place. That's admirable.

I didn't really mean to defend her because I don't care. But in my opinion, turning dressing up as Anime people into a moral issue is fucking hilarious. Cosplayers who feel morally superior for NOT showing skin and simultaneously bawwww all the time for not getting enough attention are way more annoying.
I remember the days when cosplay was extremely niche during the 2000s and was made by actual fans with passion. Now, thanks to people like Jessica Nigri and many others, cosplay is now mainstream and is flooded with thots.
Convention up here, real small one that used to bring in around 800-1000. She must have been 18 at the time. One of the photographers from cosplay.com were there (I think that's the name of the site that goes to convention to take photos of cosplayers), seemed like she would follow them around to conventions hoping to get noticed.
