That's the important distinction to be drawn here, because this story was spiked during the election cycle, where any potential blowback that could have been leveled at the Clintons was being suppressed as hard as possible from every angle. She could topple ass-over-elbows into a van and the media would do nothing but sing praises of her, but if Trump had so much as a single hair out of place we'd be getting 24/7 coverage about how slovenly he is and how it's indicative of his clearly deteriourating health.
The major media outlets refused to go anywhere near negative stories about the Clintons during that cycle. Just look at how "closely" they bothered to investigate the tarmac meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch, or how little they've bothered to draw a line between Epstein and Bill Clinton based on the number of times he'd personally visited that island, compared to how much effort they put into roping him next to Donald Trump because Trump paid him a single, back-handed complement.
