'Empire' star Jussie Smollett attacked in possible hate crime

“Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on Tuesday in what Chicago police are calling a possible hate crime.

Smollett was attacked by two people "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said.

According to police, one of Smollett's alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck. Both fled the scene.

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital and "is in good condition," police told CNN.

Later Tuesday, CNN's Don Lemon spoke to Smollett and a mutual friend who was at the hospital with the actor. Smollett confirmed the incident took place.

He was shaken and angry that an attack like this could happen. Smollett told CNN he fought back at the attackers.

"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," the police statement said.

Smollett has starred on Fox's "Empire" since 2015. He plays Jamal, a successful singer in the musical Lyon family. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay.

"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked last night," a representative of 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN. "We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice. The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate -- and especially against one of our own."

A representative for GLAAD told CNN the organization has reached out Smollett to offer assistance and support.

"Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is beloved by the community and allies around the world," a GLAAD spokesperson said in a statement.

It’s become pretty clear he orchestrated sending a threaten8ng terroristic letter contain8ng White powder (powdered Tylenol?) to his employer. It doesn’t really matter if he sent it to himself via his employer. There’s all kinds of Federal Crimes in that one. And the Postal Inspectors have no sense of humor and tend to fully prosecute.
 
One of the plots in Empire was that a CPD pulled over one of the clean-cut suit-wearing extremely business-man black characters and then brutalized him for being black and driving a Mercedes. It was pathetically stupid, hateful shit and if I were CPD I'd take it personal.
 
Whew. The grand jury has already been convened. And now it looks like there may have been an eye witness to the meetup.

On Saturday, a 30-year-old woman who lives in a high-rise that overlooks the purported crime scene told CWBChicago that she believes she saw the events that Smollett described to police as a violent hate crime.

The woman said she returned to her apartment early on Jan. 29th after helping a friend move from the Gold Coast to Lincoln Park. “It was cold and everyone bailed on him, so it took forever,” she said.

Upon returning home, the woman saw three men standing on the corner where Smollett would later report being attacked.

“All I saw was three guys talking,” she said. “They were standing right before the staircase” that leads to Upper East North Water Street.

“I don’t think there was any problem because it looked like they knew each other.”

And she said, as she looked down on the men through her open bedroom window, she did not hear any screaming or slurs. “I heard trucks (two blocks away) on Michigan Avenue, but I didn’t hear anything from them.”

If the woman is right, she estimates that the actual timeline for the crime as know to the public is off. “10, 15, maybe 20 minutes off,” she said.

So, why’d she have her window open so early on frigid Tuesday morning?

“Because I was smoking pot,” she laughed. “That’s why I haven't talked to the cops, too.”

The police have said he's refused multiple times to come in for an interview, so how is he being cooperative and respectful? Quit stalling, Jussie Smollett.

He’s not going to be sitting for another police interview. His attorneys would be insane to let that happen. All of the speaking Jussie will be doing at this point will be through press statements and legal filings. The constant police leaks have made it clear that he’s the target of the investigation, and that any interview would be an interrogation to get information prior to formal charges being filed.
 
Whelp, there he goes, the CPD may decline to prosecute for political reasons, the Grand Jury may let him off to virtue signal, but the Postmaster General truly does not give a fuck about optics.....

Everyone, including those in his community, are turning on him now. All but the woke idiots on twatter can see the light. They’re so afraid of pissing off each other for daring to believe the 10+ detectives or that the story smelled more fishy than an old French whore from the very beginning.

Again, I’m estactic this turned out the way it did and that twatter idiots have egg on their faces now.
 
Another thing about the camera is that the police might have said to Jussie that they don't have the footage, but they might have been lying.

The police could have the footage from the hoax fight, they might have footage of their walkthroughs, but the dumb faggot has fallen for the lie that the camera wasn't working and has made even more shit up about it.
