'Empire' star Jussie Smollett attacked in possible hate crime

“Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on Tuesday in what Chicago police are calling a possible hate crime.

Smollett was attacked by two people "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said.

According to police, one of Smollett's alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck. Both fled the scene.

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital and "is in good condition," police told CNN.

Later Tuesday, CNN's Don Lemon spoke to Smollett and a mutual friend who was at the hospital with the actor. Smollett confirmed the incident took place.

He was shaken and angry that an attack like this could happen. Smollett told CNN he fought back at the attackers.

"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," the police statement said.

Smollett has starred on Fox's "Empire" since 2015. He plays Jamal, a successful singer in the musical Lyon family. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay.

"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked last night," a representative of 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN. "We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice. The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate -- and especially against one of our own."

A representative for GLAAD told CNN the organization has reached out Smollett to offer assistance and support.

"Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is beloved by the community and allies around the world," a GLAAD spokesperson said in a statement.

To be fair both his acting and music are terrible, no one but vapid people watching Empire even knew who he was. Has anyone else checked out his music? When that news outlet called him a goat-warbler a few years ago they weren't lying, he cannot sing. It's no surprise that he was dropped by his record label and forced to start his own independent label for his last album, and no surprise that Empire has tried to nix his ass twice now. If one good thing came from this its that so many people have seen how vital local news outlets are. The great work by Rafer Weigel, Rob Elgas, Charlie De Mar, and CWB Chicago have made every major news outlet look like hacks, and have further exposed to 10s to 100s of thousands of people that those major news outlets are bonafide propaganda machines that primarily serve one specific group of special interests. At least at the local level there are some real, honest journalists still left.

Yeah and the hilarious thing was it took a reality star like Donald Trump to reveal the major news outlets utter bias. Trump essentially hastened the demise of cable news because viewers are wising up to their bullshit.

Third, he put WAY too much pressure on the Chicago PD and the city itself to the point where they had to find out who is responsible. Cops have the resources to solve basically any crime, but like medicine, they use triage. Unfortunately, with one of the highest murder rates in the country, he took detectives working important cases for weeks on some bullshit. He would have gotten the same amount of publicity, but he wanted to amp it up massively.

The problem was he hyped it up SO much that the police couldn't just ignore it. That and Chicago cops have a terrible rep with the black community. There was 0 possibility that, politically, the Chicago police department could ignore this case. So they had to go digging. 12 fucking detectives were put on it. Out of hundreds of hours of video footage there were only two people seen walking away. This should have been the first giveaway there's something fucked about this.

Also, nobody really thought about it with any sort of logic. It was -20 that day. First, why were two MAGA hat rednecks, roaming the streets with a rope ready and bleach in a vacant neighborhood, known mostly for the homeless in -20 weather? Were they just looking for somebody randomly on the coldest day instead of getting drunk in a bar or at home somewhere? Second, knowing Chicago is huge with gun crime, these guys didn't bring a weapon when they were going to rope a random person? Third, how did they even know he was gay or even who he was? Empire isn't that popular. Did they just watch it one night and Google this random C-List actor? Why in the ever-living fuck would they care? The case made no fucking logical sense.

So you've got 12 detectives working on this case, massive amounts of resources. The Chicago PD is going to be fucking pissed. The only thing that will hold them back if Rahm Emmanuel tells the cops not to ass fuck this dumb bastard. Which will probably be the case. Don't want to ruin 2020 by making any sorts of waves. Don't expect justice or anything like that. The left will just memory hole this, like they do with everything else.

The honest fact is, at this point in time, we've heard of far more racist hoaxes than actual racist attacks. And it keeps. fucking. happening. Everyone knows this. But progtards like to ignore reality. They should be baying for this cunt's blood, because this will destroy any narrative for 'listen and believe' which is wearing people's patience thinner by the day. Likely: Fucktard doesn't get charged, does 'community service' which he doesn't do and gets away with it.

Most Realistic: Fucktard gets away with it with a light finger-waging from the Chicago PD because the Chicago machine wants to win brownie points and not break the news media.

The real damage is going to be to the narrative of the left and 'oppression'. Its not oppression when you have a whole PD looking for criminals, you can't find white people to stage an attack and you had to pay for it. So the biggest damage will come from narratives being doubted instantly. Its too outrageous to memory hole and people won't forget this anytime soon.

So even if he gets off, which he will, it hurts them massively on the oppression and hate crime narrative. So its doing damage to them no matter what, even if the guy serves no time. So, the most realistic outcome is nothing happens to him or he has to pay a fine/community service. It's idiotic. It was just the opposite. In the beginning even a large number of conservatives joined in on the lynch mob. It's just that when the truth very quickly came out, it was a certain fanatical group that should have it hung around their necks for the rest of their lives who refused to abandon the narrative and kept coming up with increasingly insane lies as to why the lynching victims were really guilty even if everything in the initial story was bullshit.

And because the media invariably focuses on high profile spectacular looking cases, that are always vastly more likely to be fake in the first place, you have fake story after fake story. Actual hate crimes that fill the stats aren't glamorous and they don't involve fucking celebrities. Some bunch of poor kids get someone from a nearby neighborhood who crossed the wrong line and beat the shit out of him while calling him a nigger or a gook or whatever and it doesn't even make the news. And it's often PoC on PoC. Not roving bands of white Klansmen or MAGA-hatted Catholic schoolboys.

The classic white on black would be something like Italians beating the shit out of some black guy walking through Bensonhurst and even that shit is outdated.

A lot of hate crimes aren't even prosecuted as such because it's a waste of time, you have to prove a lot more shit, and you don't even get a longer sentence. Hate crimes laws are generally nearly useless and only make for headlines. If someone violently assaults someone prosecute them for that and lock them up a long time, and who cares what their races are.
