'Empire' star Jussie Smollett attacked in possible hate crime

“Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on Tuesday in what Chicago police are calling a possible hate crime.

Smollett was attacked by two people "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said.

According to police, one of Smollett's alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck. Both fled the scene.

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital and "is in good condition," police told CNN.

Later Tuesday, CNN's Don Lemon spoke to Smollett and a mutual friend who was at the hospital with the actor. Smollett confirmed the incident took place.

He was shaken and angry that an attack like this could happen. Smollett told CNN he fought back at the attackers.

"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," the police statement said.

Smollett has starred on Fox's "Empire" since 2015. He plays Jamal, a successful singer in the musical Lyon family. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay.

"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked last night," a representative of 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN. "We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice. The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate -- and especially against one of our own."

A representative for GLAAD told CNN the organization has reached out Smollett to offer assistance and support.

"Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is beloved by the community and allies around the world," a GLAAD spokesperson said in a statement.

If any of them are smart they should have all lawyerd up immediatly after the *attack* as we all know any variation of this "Earlier, police said the two persons of interest are not suspects and have not been charged. Investigators are only talking with them at this time." Means come down to the station to further incriminate yourself without a lawyer to stop your dumb self.
Hopefully the gaybros turn on Jussie and he gets real life written into jail.

Which is almost definitely not something he was suffering from.

But someone else mentioned upthread that Isaiah Washington went into "rehab" after he was fired from Grey's Anatomy, and that was definitely something that had nothing to do with addiction, unless he was addicted to choking his coworkers and calling them "faggot".

He's been getting work since then, so it seems like Hollywood was willing to let that fall down the memoryhole.

The fact that he was getting written out of the show when he's probably one of the top 3 most central characters to the narrative must mean that it wasn't the script so much as they didn't want to work with him anymore. Waiting for other cast members to start slipping stories about what a fucking whack-job he is.

Trump supporters may not have committed this particular crime, but they are nazis who are doing this every night to poor homosexual "n-words" who just want to exist. This is what Trump supporters would have done if they found this guy. You cannot let Trump off the hook even if he was not involved nor were any of his supporters.

I checked and the show's ratings have been tanking. 21% over the last season alone to be exact. The show is dying. Though now Fox is saying that he isn't off. There so much spin and lying and vagueness that it'll be interesting to see how it all turns out.
 
The police are pissed someone leaked details before they had confessions. They’re walking things back to protect the investigation and so Jussie doesn’t lawyer up.

Calling it now: they're showing him support publicly and getting ready to show him the door behind the scenes. He'll be allowed to step down and call it his choice so he can be applauded for moving on to bigger projects.

Well it's not like we didn't know it was a hoax one way or another. Jussie shoud have just let his character have a white boyfriend. Maybe that's why they were dropping his ass. His little stunt will stick with him for life. He faked a hate crime because he was butthurt about the TV show he was on writing him out. Lovely.:roll:

Meh, that depends on how much of a draw he his. At most he'll plead down and get a few months probation or some shit. Calling it now that even if it's proven he planned and perpetrated the whole thing, the only cell he will see will be the holding cell before he gets bonded out. If Pedowood thinks they can use him, they will. It seems like he's too minor of a nobody for them to care, but I don't pay attention to celebrity shit I don't see on here.
