They made depraved Frenchman the director of the next film.

He's Quebecois, I can't believe I have to defend the French against the insult of being confused with their hillbilly North American counterparts.

It will probably look good. Probably be the best looking Bond film, but don't expect good performances. It might be serviceable, but I am leaning to it being kind of bland, with a story that won't make any sense as soon as it gets any scrutiny. Probably better than most of the Craig films, but that isn't a high bar.

I really liked the Dune films. I never saw Sicario or his Blade Runner.
He's an A-List director at the moment. I can only see it as a check mark in the positive list. It still will come down to who they cast and whatever approach they choose for the new iteration of Bond.

I’m guessing we’ll be getting a 007 casting announcement soon then.

And while I know it’s unlikely to happen, it’d be hilarious if DV decided to do a sci-fi-flavored Bond set in the near-ish future.

Dune Messiah starts filming in the next couple of weeks. That'll be a few months of Denis being very busy.

One would hope Denis has been on Bond for a little bit and writers will be developing stuff to come back to him for when Dune enters post. Then maybe a casting announcement before the end of the year.

I'm just curious about what they do. Will it be remakes? A reimagining? Or just Bond is established and goes on a mission.

Honestly with films I feel Bond is likely dead but Video games? That I feel might be where 007 can survive as it's funny that he's been relatively treated well in the gaming department.

It's even funny that Blood Stone, has a Bond theme I'll Take It All, a favorite of mine that's better than almost all of the Craig era themes.

Amazon purchased half of the 007 franchise for $1 billion but also had to purchase MGM for $8.5 billion to get the other half. So between 007 movies, shows, merchandise, and MGM's back catalog they need to clear over $9 billion. So expect the 007 and Bond licenses to be plastered onto every possible piece of merchandise that anyone can think of in the next two or three decades. There are already a few shows and video games in preliminary stages.

There's plenty of stuff out there using the 007 and Bond licenses, but at some point over the last couple of decades, they decided the main market was men over 40/50 who are rich.

My hunch would be they got into the, "it's not appropriate to make James Bond toys," mindset. Marketed to adults and then found a lot of men with disposable money will spend hundreds of dollars on the clothes Bond wears to low key larp as Bond. The Bond Lifestyle.

Looking over on https://007store.com/ You can get an idea of the kind of stuff they're doing. A lot is almost low key Bond. You wouldn't know if you didn't know. Some is more overt.

Looking now, there's more affordable stuff than whenever I was last there, but then there's still a £115,200.00 GBP Faberge Egg.

I'll be honest, I have stuff. I have some Orlebar Brown Bond stuff. Waste of money and not bought for the ridiculous prices they are now. I have a MY Disco Valante cap. Only once has someone ever gone, "Bond" at it.

I would love a Bond watch, but they're priced at a point that is far too expensive for me. Two grand. I'd buy one. When you're getting up to 10, 15 grand. NOPE. I can do too much better stuff like holidays to interesting places in the world for that money. Which to me is more of the Bond lifestyle.

007 First Light Gameplay Trailer.
007 First Light Gameplay Deep Dive.

Man…Its taking me back to Everything or Nothing and From Russia with Love.
Music is doing all the heavy lifting in that trailer. Still feels like James Bond Jr.

We just had three back to back Denis-style films. I hate that Bond has to be 3 hours long now, gray, and have Bond constantly staring into the distance.

Looks decent. I’ll take a competent action game over whatever the fuck movie or shows Amazon wants to cook up to shit all over the brand.

A true Bondfag would appreciate the soundtracks. One of the best parts of the older Bond movies was the soundtracks that set the mood from John Barry.

I’ve been following reactions to this game and 90% of the people who don’t like what they see (excluding the obvious frame rate drops) are all clearly Non-Bond fans.
XQC or whatever his name is, other idiots…Comments galore comparing it to Uncharted and “Hitman with Hair.”
Yeah…IoI is making it, the Hitman devs are making it. There’s gonna be some Hitman DNA in there and apparently Uncharted is the only third person cover based action game series ever made.

Then you look at someone like Calvin Dyson, a REAL Bond fan and arguably the largest Bond specific YouTuber, and he thinks it looks fantastic (minus the frame rate issues of course).
All the people who are clearly real Bond fans are at least somewhat positive at how this game looks. The people dismissing it as Hitman mixed with Uncharted clearly aren’t Bond fans and don’t realize all the influences Bond has had on things like Hitman and Uncharted.
Just look at who reacted positively or negatively to the scar to see who is worth caring what they think about this game.

To me, it looks.... okay. I dont know if im convinced yet, it seems like it'll be too linear compared to even Hitman 3. Like Hitman 3 I thought was... okay, but it simplified level design in order to get a more pick up and play, cinematic experience. My worst worry is dedicated stealth sections, dedicated action sections and for the stealth sections to be doable only view the opportunities. Like the fact there's three ways to get a camera worries me, that the approaches wont be multiple separate scenarios and instead multiple little puzzles to get to the next step of the same scenario

Not to be rude, but have you ever played a James Bond video game before?
They’re quite linear.

I'm cautiously curious about the game, the framerate being bad needs to be fixed and the DEI shit is cringe but outside of that it actually looks promising
also everyone bitching about the game I highly doubt has played 007 everything or nothing, which is what this game has strong DNA from mixed in with some hitman elements

ive dabbled in them, but never finished any, but i'd say the FPS Bonds tend to be somewhat non-linear and my point is a bit more about how a hypothetical perfect Bond game should be rather than what it is right now: to me Bond is a character who fluidly goes from action to stealth depending on the situation. Like he can be sneaking around, get caught and fight a guy, then kill him and dispose of the body and go back to sneaking. I feel like that sort of persona when translated into gameplay would involve any situation having stealth AND action options and the ability to switch between them depending on how you are caught off guard or no

i'd say the FPS Bonds tend to be somewhat non-linear
OK, so Bond games are an important part of my youth along with the films.
The FPS Bonds such as Goldeneye, Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, etc…
Those games are all quite linear in their approach as well as the Third Person games like Everything or Nothing or From Russia with Love.

You also have to remember, this is young Bond here.
He’s not 007 yet.
And I’d rather this game be a more focused, linear game than try to emulate Hitman and fail.
