Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.

He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.

Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".

Sir Roger, who died in Switzerland, will have a private funeral in Monaco in accordance with his wishes.

My favourite/most hated part of his bond films were in the Man with the Golden Gun, where he has a kung fu fight alongside his Chinese friend and his Chinese's friends nieces, who happen to be schoolgirls trained in kung fu. It was so awesome but so terrible at the same time.

When it comes to "the man with the golden gun", the absolute best and worst thing is the car jump.
One of the greatest stunts of all time and the ruined it with a stupid sound effect.

It was actually a computer model, so I assume it was meant to be a filler from the lack of sound expected to be heard from a car launching and dropping on two ramps. Why a slide whistle? It was the fucking 1970s!

He was an underrated Bond.

He was definitely better than Connery, and it's a shame people used to give him shit just because his films "were too silly" compared to the rest of the series.

That's the stuff that made his films so memorable, the same film that gave us Scaramanga also gave us Nick Nack. His films may have strayed into the campy side too much, but I still like them more than several of Connery's or Brosnan's entries.
