Mostly though it's the part where you said to be the change you want to see. I can agree their is a lot of pointless shitflinging and repetition from people not reading the thread, but how is a news subforum comments supposed to ever be more than people tossing their 2 cents in? What are people supposed to say to the 20th story about a tranny being sex pest that day? The type of articles being posted facilutate the subculture that forum has. If you want to change that we would need new rules on what articles are allowed, but you'd probably still run into similar problems centered around the new content if not outright kill the forum.

You may nominate yourself but special considerations to third party nominations.

Perks of being a mod:
- You can be the change you want to see in the community.
- Cool badge thing on your profile.
- Users cannot ignore you.*

Burdens of being a mod:
- Users will hate you and openly resent you regardless of what you do or do not do.
- Users will not report posts and then become upset that you do not delete posts that they think cause low quality threads.
- Articles & Happenings is literally unmoderatable and is basically the comments section on Infowars.
- You will not be compensated in any way.†
- You will burn out in 6 months and simply vanish.‡

* This was a common complaint with Zed and OwO.
† You do it for free.
‡ This has happened to every A&H mod without exception.

In general we need a light touch who is not emotionally invested in "their team" to issue threadbans to keep threads on track, board bans to keep the signal to noise ratio down, and who can FEARLESSLY communicate concerns directly to me.

Use Agree/Disagree on posts nominating people so I can get a feel for things.

I will ban everyone who posts anything and I do mean anything in the Autism Thunderdome. The only way to kill the cancer is to tear it out.

This here's a strong argument for HHH being a mod for A&H. Even the thought of him simply posting a reply to someone gets them so scared they delete their post immediately after they see him in their notifications.

That kind of fear would eliminate at least 45% of the board's shittiness and whip the rest of them into shape if they don't want a Hulkster beatdown.

I would consider doing it, but it depends on a couple things.

Questions:
  • How much would you expect/prefer me to be on per day? I will for sure be on for a bit at night, if that's fine.
  • What exactly comes with being a mod? Is it just responding to reports and dealing with any rule-breaking posts and/or posters while browsing? What other things might be involved?
  • Will I be given some sort of guidance at first or no? I really wouldn't want to do a shit job.
I personally don't give a shit about people hating me, as I mostly just lurk and I don't get too involved with other users. I'm also not too emotionally invested in politics.

In regards to the communication thing, as long as it's only communicating any issues or concerns I may have that come with being a mod, it won't bother me.

The only thing is that I don't pay any attention to Happenings.

This is feeling pretty autistic.
 
I nominate myself. I have 3 "qualifications" for this "job"

-I hate politics
-I am not in education, employment, or training
-I like to eat my Hot Pockets when they're cold and frozen

I dunno what you exactly want in a janny but I'm confident that at this point you could pick at random. Everyone in this thread is overqualified for the job anyways.

I was writing up these same questions, so I'll second them.

I'd be willing to help out, I'd like there to be less slapfighting and redundant posts overall. Despite my political leanings I don't have any issues going against the grain of the forum (see the abortion containment thread). Overall I try to remain neutral with most people in the forum, except the ones blatantly trying to start slapfights. I just want to the forum to have less shitty posts and have more engaging discussions.

Although I'm not terminally online so I don't know if I'd be active enough. I'd be more likely to under moderate than abuse power.
 
The only right choice to mod A&N is @CatParty. He can finally ascend to his true form and take over A&N with his "high quality" articles.
