It's a GUNDAAAAAAAAM. Your general Gundam natter thread!

Ramba Ral was alive! Good for him.

Pretty rushed finale. And you don't quite get an answer to everything.

At the end the whole show was just memberberries.

The real name was never revealed, nothing actually fucking happened and the amount of magic bullshit eclipses Unicorn.

0/10.
It's weird what they revealed about GQuuuuuuX and what they didn't. Maybe its real name will show up in something.

With the reveal that the Omega Psycommu was scavenged from what's presumably the Nu Gundam, does that mean the suspiciously Sazabi-shaped thing on GFreD's head really was taken from the Sazabi?

Somehow the finale was alright, even good in some parts.

It surprised me even.
Challia being against Char in the end was surprising but in the overall context of Gundam it would make sense. But overall I believe Shuji was right IF this series was after the normal UC but I guess it is BEFORE, her ending in the normal series is her definitive ending, protecting char from Amuro.

Nyaan ended up being diaappinted in the final episode and after all this episodes, the one character that I cared was surprisingly enough Xavier. He was the only true newtype of the story and was fucked over by everyone.

And another surprise is that Machu actually has a living father lol.

The biggest surprise was his return, from 1989 cover from Animage I guess.

Do you think the ending was a sequel hook for the return of Shuji? What happened to both GQX and GFreD? Lots of things in the air for a sequel.

Did I watch the wrong subs or something, cause I didn't see any Nu Gundam or that picture.
Edit: Oh, the part where it implied Amuro is in the Gquuuuuux, that's not quite the same as seeing Nu Gundam itself, but whatever. I still didn't see that picture though.

When Lalah created the alternate timelines where other mobile suits in red for char to survive, the last one is the Sazabi.

This series makes me love G-Reco even more because it condones newtypes as a failure, meanwhile other series treats it as literal gods

Yes turned out very nice.

Would it be set before or after Turn A? Before or after G-Reco? Heck, maybe it would be another AU outright, since all Tomino's shows are all tied to UC in some way.
I was under the impression it was an original work and not Gundam related?

Oh heck yeah. They sequel baited like crazy. We gotta get another movie because that sold like candy.

Not as bad as I feared, they finished the arc and did a good job leaving answers for another.

Everyone who bought Unicorn merch is directly to blame for this outcome. I repeat my belief that Gundam as a franchise is just way more miss than hit.
I really did buy a good chunk of Unicorn plamo when it was new, now that I think about it.

Yeah. There's just enough dangling plot threads that they could do something else.

Soo, let's see if I got this right:

Amuro became a Gundam somehow, Shuji is a kid from the other side that kills the girl to protect her heart and may or may not be Kaworu's actually straight twin (what's his relationship with Lala?), the two girl protagonists committed multiple murders and warcrimes in a row all because the thought of Shuji made them wet (all for nothing, kek), and Char gets away after killing the Zanabi family AGAIN, likely ruining the government and setting up another conflict where Earth takes advantage of Zeon's weakness.

Oh, and the protagonist actually has a father, so she had a non-dysfunctional family that she ran away from because teenagers.
Also, ripping off EoE non-stop (fortunately, Shuji didn't end up becoming a giant naked dude, at least).
It needs another season. Or better yet, give Tomino his meds.

Oh, it was at the back of those red mobile suits, I guess I glossed over it and thought it was a Zeong. Thanks for pointing that out.
So, is Gquuuuuux the beginning of a multiverse MSV/MSX sub-franchise where Char pilots EVERY mobile suit ever made? Is he going to get his own G-Self or Turn A?

Not really, char piloting other mobile suits existed for decades with Gihren's Greed and plastic model in magazines

I know they've been a thing in the books, I'm wondering if Gqux is the excuse to animate them all, saying that for every mobile suit there must be one universe Char piloted it.

Sorry to doublepost, but I as much as I would love to see a Sayla-led Zeon ( and I cheered at seeing Ramba Ral, you can't ask for better retainers than Ramba Ral and Challia Bull), it would have had more of an emotional impact if she appeared in more than one scene before the finale. There's no indication mainline Sayla or this Sayla had political aspirations, or wanted to return to lead Zeon.

Not really because they never animated it anyway. It was just a reference to other mobile suits without rhyme and reason. Even then it doesn't make sense that moat of it are 0079 then we got Sazabi there skipping zeta era ones.

They really never gave a shit about the world consistency in this series, they literally offer the whole Zeon to Artesia and we never saw her or see what she thinks about space colonies or shit like that. It is just fan service.

And this is a bad thing, because her true actions after the war were much more humane and true to her nature: she becomes a doctor. A profession that helps people. Even in alternate retellings like Zeta Define, she is working as a doctor instead of wanting to be a political figure. Which makes Challia even worse because is his flashback he was seen as someone who was ready to die in the same way that Char was after 0079: completely directionless.

Everything that they did felt artificial and devoid of passion. That is why I like Xavier so much, he was someone who wanted to achieve something unlike Challia.

Holy shit, I saw an illustration by Sejoon Kim and he worked on GQX.... And he basically alone made the anime Gundam Twilight Axis.

And this made me realize one thing.... It was never a matter of episodes, he was better in that episode and still had zeonwank, char, lalah and everything than GQX within 23 minutes.

Jesus fuck this show.

I love Twilight Axis and a single man understood it better than the entire khara fucks. Jesus Christ how bad it gets the more you think about it.
