Did you know that cultural relativism was created for and is only meant to be used in a strictly academic setting? I’m a sociology major, and I’ve been taught that cultural relativism was created as a means to keep researchers unbiased when studying other cultures. Cultures are meant to be seen as merely different, not better or worse. This is to prevent bias from seeping into the actual research being done, because it can affect the results. Cultural relativism is
not meant to be used in any other context. Too bad it’s mutated to become “All cultures are perfect and beautiful and you’re not allowed to call cultures that stone rape victims inferior to Western culture.”
Oh joy, someone pulled out the "
Everyone fucked 8-14-year-olds back then!!" argument. It's absolutely true that a lot of European kings married and fucked young girls... but we don't revere them as the perfect humans who we're meant to model our lives after.
Muhammad's marriage to Aisha is used to justify child marriage all across the globe. If the perfect man- whose actions are meant to be emulated by everyone if they want a shot of getting into Heaven- married and fucked a child, then why can't everyone else?
As this website states:

Also, AsoOmii Jay said something pretty illuminating:
Yeah, which is why
a disturbing amount of Muslims get
violently angry if Muhammad (or Islam in general) is
disrespected in any way.
I just find it fascinating that Muhammad is afforded such reverence that it borders on outright worship. Like, mockery/criticism of Muhammad is usually met with
much stronger reactions than mockery/criticism of Allah... even though Allah is the one who is meant to be worshipped and Muhammad is just a simple messenger. I think that's why a lot of non-Muslims have the notion that Muslims worship Muhammad; it certainly looks that way sometimes, even if the Muslims giving that impression strongly deny it.
