I've met many Muslims IRL and most of them were pretty all right. I've met many non-Muslims and most of them were pretty all right.

However "I've never seen it so it doesn't affect me" is kind of dumb (though I don't really care if Muslims in Muslim countries want to have shitty Sharia Law as long as they don't try to export it to places that don't want it)

EDIT: Don't try to export it, and the other key issue, leave minority groups in their countries alone.

So basically my being okay with it is purely theoretical

The adult Muslims I've met irl have been pretty split. They're either friendly people who've integrated fairly well and keep their religion to themselves unless prompted- or dickholes who barely speak English (if they've even tried to be fluent in it), spend their time almost exclusively around other Muslims, and are generally bitter people. They're almost never in the grey area in-between.

It seems to me like the deciding factor is how well they've tried to integrate.

Trolls are exposing gays and atheists in Muslim countries.

I'm sure Twitter's Trust and Safety council will get right on that. It's sad that the writer must even mention the "social media harassment" that fainting snowflakes have had to endure in the same article. "Consequences [...] far more serious than most" is a massive understatement, when the consequences largely consisted of being triggered and offended, as opposed to being executed by your backwards feudal kingdom.

How are the people exposing them trolls? If they were, say, non-muslims doing it to amuse themselves, or christians who really hate atheists, I'd understand the troll label. The whole of the article only mentions self-righteous religious muslims condemning the godless and patting themselves on the back for exposing them. Narry a troll to be found.

"In 2012, a Kuwaiti man was jailed for 10 years for insulting Muhammad and Saudi and Bahrainian officials on Twitter. Another man was sentenced to five years for “a Twitter comment about Sunni/Shia theology” a year later, according to Human Rights Watch.Kuwait passed an amendment allowing for the death penalty for “Muslims who curse the God or the Quran” in 2012."

Unless the government of Kuwait and a large portion of it's population are themselves "trolls". Of course interesting as well that the title only mentions PRO-LGBT WOMEN, because all the atheists that have been butchered worldwide just aren't worthy of empathy. Need that "women and/or children" angle to really sell it. Would've been easier just to title the article

Muslims Are Reporting Apostates and Atheists to Their Governments, Where Punishment Can Mean Death

I've met good Muslims, and bad Muslims. But they are good and bad people of any race/ethnicity/sexuality whatever. You can't generalize entire group of people based on the opinions of a few vocal assholes.

Well, they are totally a peaceful and tolerant religion, unless:

- You depict their prophet in any way, shape or form
- You are a woman
- You are a homosexual
- You are Jewish
- You are a differing sect of Muslim
- You are from the West
- You get raped
- You listen to music
- You eat pork
- You criticize their double standards

Religion of peace, indeed.
-This does apply unfortunately.
-Woman aren't oppressed, especially here in Kuwait where they have plenty of rights. Women have the option to wear Hijab or not, it's their decision to wear it.
-This does apply to some countries but not all.
- There are people such as myself who don't oppose Jews. Also depends on the country.
-This does apply unfortunately.
- Myself and the rest of my country love the West.
- Rape is absolutely not allowed, and is illegal here.
- Pretty much everyone here listens to music.
- Although it's not allowed in Islam, many people don't care if others eat it. Those that do are just xenophobic and ignorant.
- Everyone has flaws, not just Muslims. It's a fact of life.

Kuwait seems to be the outlier, unfortunately. Although I don't know how much of this is natural and how much of it was due to the United States and NATO saving the country from Saddam during the Gulf War. I don't believe all Muslims are terrible people, I believe it's more based on environment than genetics or religion or any of that. Unfortunately, there are a lot of places in the Middle East and others where a lot of these are in play. Especially with extremist groups like ISIS.

Lol claiming Islam doesn't oppress women.

Women got the right to vote in Kuwait 10 years ago. Kuwait has no laws prohibiting domestic violence, sexual harassment, or marital rape.

Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis, unlike Kuwaiti men, cannot pass on their citizenship to their children or spouses. Kuwaiti law also prevents a woman marrying a partner of her choice without her father’s permission.

Again Kuwait is ahead of most Muslim countries but yeah sorry still not anywhere close to the west

Yes Kuwaiti women cannot pass their nationality to their children. However, rape is frowned upon and not acceptable at all.
The only reason women are given the option to wear niqab/hijab is to promote modesty and prevent sexual harassment. Even then, women here have the freedom to wear what they want. It's not Saudi Arabia.

If women were really oppressed here, they would have left the country a long time ago and renounced their faith. I have met people who wore hijab and know what I'm talking about.
I just think it might be a neat idea to not have a bunch of goddamn rapists running around to the point women need to hide under bedsheet ghost costumes.

We don't have rapists. It's a safety precaution.
It's also optional to wear it. Only in Saudi Arabia do they enforce it on citizens and tourists.

Women only got the right to vote 10 years ago in Kuwait. They can't marry someone without the father agreeing. They can't pass the citizenship to their children on their own. They have no legal protection against sexual harassment, domestic violence or rape by their spouses

Fucking lol at "if they didnt like it, they would leave". Leave to go where?

Lol their are tons of stories of migrant workers being gang raped in your country, even by cops. Abuse of migrant workers (slaves in many cases) is a huge problem

I however don't abuse whatever migrant workers I see. Also, they willingly come here to work, we don't buy them. Additionally, doesn't rape happen in the US as well? Crime rates are actually higher there then here.
NOTE I am not bashing the US and have stated before that I love it, I am just stating facts.
Here's proof: http://www.numbeo.com/crime/rankings_by_country.jsp
If you don't have rapists than what is it a precaution against, sunburns?
It is simply to encourage modesty in dress. I have stated before that not everyone wears this garment.
